there is a tiny alignment mark on the suction screen, which makes the "feet" line up inside the housing. That makes those upper tabs catch better.

Man, what you said at 7:50 is absolutely true, yesterday happened to my fried in deep forest, looked in the tank and saw it was disconnected, I was fixing my pump 2 years ago and watched this video, got back to riding in 30 minutes. Great observation

Also for those concerned with the white piping supplied (And I am not sure if there is a quality issue or not) but Holley, the people that make carbs and what not offer this type of tubing sold in lengths. I purchased mine from Summit Racing. You have to buy specific lengths as the ends of the tube are made specifically for "3 Barb" fittings like the fuel pump and fuel filter utilize.

As Jeff says be very careful with tiny wires! Also when replacing the fuel filter go directly to the parts house and purchase about 2 feet of 1/4" gas line and a package of hose clamps. The semi clear line that's supplied in the quantum kit is garbage!

Those OEM clamps are called Oetiker clamps.

Would there be any value in running in the future pump to clear the initial seating of the carbon brushes before installation and to test the pump?

Hello Jeff, there is a tyni little spring plus a Kind of Knob in the Fuel Line just before the Pump .... could you tell me what it is and what Sense it had? can I remove this ? The Fuel Line which is included in the FuelPump set did not have it ? My bike Husky FE250 2015

Jeff, I think you should re-do your video, so you’re not fumbling through it. Use a hot air gun to soften the hose end so you don’t have to slice it with a knife to get it off. Also the screen on the pump has to be “aligned” and it will slip right on and click on effortlessly. How do I know? because I did it without a video, and learned the hard way.... and didn’t have to cut anything.

We don’t sell that pump anymore. No re-do.

You call out a California Cycleworks Fuel Pump in this video but on your website you are selling Quantum Pumps. Are these the same pumps since the video was made or have you chosen the Quantum Pump going forward? What's the quality of the Quantum as there are complaints on them in some forums.

Got a long one here ..My FC 450 2017 when it runs out of fuel it just stops. no different to hitting the kill switch. in mid air over a jump twice over the bars . very lucky didn't break to much. dislocated shoulder.. my injected rmz didn't do that . I assume it had still a small amount of fuel left in it so it would miss fire. if I cut the small pipe higher say the lot 10mm at the bottom of the pump the plastic frame that holds the guaze filter has this pipe im assuming it will have fuel still and not just stop. no different to raising the whole pump 10mm . what a bad design it is . needs a low level fuel light from factory.

I have exc tpi 250 2019 i have 20 hours on it. i noticed inside fuel tank fuel is spraying and i can see somthing like air bubbles so im guessing there is some crack on hose or on pump joint with filter. otherwise bike runs fine at mid-high rev and full tank but when is on fuel reserve it start bogging (i think then it starts to suck air through this crack). Also in 6 gear at low rpm bike also have running issues.

Hello: Sounds like the fuel filter has failed. They sometimes crack at the seam. slavensracing.com/shop/fuel-injection-maintenance-kit-by-ee/

2009 - 2014 Husaberg fuel pump is close to the same small difference. The hose material and clamps are important do your homework.

what is the life expectancy of a typical KTM fuel pump?
@criticalthinking37092 жыл бұрын
Mine only made it 40 hours, but it’s a 2016 I bought used.

Is there a test I can do to see if my fuel pump is out? I had a pretty good crash and can’t get my bike started anymore, electrical is fine... 17’ fx 450

Yes. Buy another dry break fitting from your dealer. This is the two part aluminum fuel line fitting with the small O ring that you separate to take the tank off. Hook up a length of fuel line to the injector side half of the fitting. Connect to the existing fuel tank side of the original dry break fitting on the bike. Use a container to catch any pumped gas. Now when you turn on the key (EXC/FE) or hit the starter the fuel pump in the fuel tank will be energized and should pump a fairly strong stream of fuel into your catch container if it is functioning properly. You can also put a fuel pressure gauge on the line. Normal pressure is 50/60 psi. The pump will only operate for a few seconds then stop. Recycle the key or start button again and it should cycle again for a few seconds. If you get no fuel, listen to see if you can hear the pump running. Check the fuel pump fuse and electrical connections. I actually carry my test fuel line and fitting in my rider’s pack for trailside diagnostics. It takes me less than 30 seconds to do so. My buddy has burned out his pump 3 times because he lets ethanol gas sit in the tank for several months. This congeals into a goo that clogs the in- tank filter causing the pump to burn out. Best to use ethanol free gas and change the in- tank filter every 3000 miles/ annually to prevent these problems.

Is there a reason you did not go with an OEM pump?

The stocker is $365 and questionable quality.

The OEM-Pump is expensive and is "made in china" and fails when its getting hot. It tends to break... to sum it up the OEM-part is overpriced crap.
@jameswells34086 жыл бұрын
Jeff, did you leave a seal off pickup end of the pump?
@slaverace16 жыл бұрын
No

I've never had a fuel pump fail on any metric vehicle and I've owned some old junk with 200k+ miles. Made in china fuel system, thanks KTM. Perhaps it's not KTM's fault. I guess it's possible that there is no high quality fuel pump for this application, but I doubt it. Don't get me wrong, I love my xc-f but I could be just as happy with a primitive carb with the option of a Lectron if desired.

Does anyone know what the little brazed on capacitor looking thing with the blue wire attached to it is?!? Just bought an oem replacement that is missing that piece. Thanks.

I omit that star washer. Pointless and impossible to get off without destroying it.
