Why would you not want secret technique in your hand first turn everytime. That's the equivalent of having any skill you want in your hand first turn no matter what. It just seems like the best play, am I wrong?

TheScoutnation There may still be alot of situations in which having secret technique on the first turn is not what you want. But then again i 'm not an expert so i could be wrong

thats right, but since your starting relic is replaced with 3 curse-related relics, although the curses hinder you, they also buff you a ton, so by having master innate you can help to kinda negate the fact that curses are mostly dead draws and get to your better cards easier on the first turn or take the first turn to get some of them in your discard pile so they wont get in the way in future turns; also correct me if I'm wrong but NL took bottled lightning before upgrading secret tech so in most cases the outcome would be the same, be secret tech not upgraded

I have two reasons. 1: you want to draw it later because your first turn is already strong enough. 2: you have gambling chip and tough bandages so you want to discard your hand for block. I’m pretty sure I didn’t have it bottled but can’t remember why.

Transmutation seems so bad that you add x colourless cards to your hand but unless they're 0 cost you can't play them til they shuffle round again or you have deep breath to derp them out. (used derp because I wanted to call it derp breath) If it gave you even one energy back it'd be so much more useful, otherwise it seems a complete waste of energy as a last resort dump for any excess.

Most colorless cards cost 0. So if you have a dead hand and some energy leftover it's a good play but generally not that great

Transmutation + Concentrate is a cool combo. Transmutation for 4 energy and then Concentrate to gain energy and use all the colorless cards. Also, Adrenaline.

NL when bottled lightning came out you should have shosen secret technique instead of master of strategy. It would have allowed you to get master of strategy since you can select any skill or another one if you chanced upon master of strategy naturally.

Since you got Bottled Lightning so early in the run, I feel you should've used it on Secret Technique, since Secret Technique has essentially the same effect except you get to choose the card each combat, meaning it can only get better as you fill up the deck and it becomes a lot more flexible in terms of different enemies you might fight

cecilandblues No, you're correct. It would be a good upgrade target if the upgrade added an additional attack. Flat +5 damage isn't particularly necessary.

NL, why would you Bottled Lightning Master of Strategy when you could have chosen Secret Technique, the toolbox card that lets you pick MoS or any other at the time useful skill? Also, I honestly think Transmutation is a terrible card and I quite dislike it. I ended up transforming it on this run and getting Apotheosis from it.

EGG DONT TAKE PREPARED ITS A DEAD CARD here is the explanation: While it is true it can refine your hand when you use, it provides no aditional card draw since you draw 2 and then discard 2 cards, it just fills space in your hand when you draw it.

Hard_to_Pronounce Preparation is a free cycling card, meant to remove dead cards from you hand, such as X cost cards at low energy, curses, or general card you know you will not play, and replace them with drawn cards that might have some value or be actually playable.

Gives versatility to your hand AND enables discard synergies. For example, late game in NL's deck, one Prepared makes Eviserate 2 energy cheaper, discards strikes/defends to draw better cards ands gives him 6 block because of his relic. Quite good for 0 energy, right?
