I totally understand what Tom is saying, as a Born Again Christian I can truly respect Toms Opinion. Before I was renewed, I was a Slayer fan and still to this day, because with listening to Slayer I would have never achieved a mind that I have now of understanding both sides of the argument. Its great because I know the TRUTH now, and showing people the truth is something that cannot be done in a conversation but a decade of learning people and life. God Bless you Tom. Good luck with that. I was told specifically by my minister and church that Slayer and all heavy metal is the devil's music and as a true Christian we cannot listen to it. I am sure that most evangelicals would also agree with me. I was told that if Jesus wouldn't do it we cannot do it either.

So here are my thoughts on the whole Slayer / Christian thing, not that anyone was asking for them...but here they are anyway. I think that the kind of music Slayer and bands create is dangerous for "some" people. Its thrash metal for Christ's sake! Its supposed to be a little dark and not so safe! There are people in this world who even as they grow are highly influenced by the thoughts and opinions they consume. To the point that depictions in media, whether it be film or music or whatever, can alter their perception of who they are and what they believe. However, that is not the case for everybody. I really enjoy an album like God Hates Us All. I think it's Slayer's best, or at least definitely my favorite. I feel no shame in that. I don't have to fully agree with the sentiments (though some of them I do) to appreciate the body of work as a whole. It's quality thrash and the lyrics, whether you agree with them or not, are abrasive and ear catching in the best of ways. To anyone who has an issue with Slayer's music, all I can say is this. Shield yourself from it if you feel you need to. However, I am still a fan of free speech. No one wants to live in a world where they wear a muzzle, even if they think they do...

After all these years of progression. SLAYER is by far the most brutal, anti everything, don't give a fuck band that has existed. And they started in the 80s. These new metal bands would not be around if it weren't for them and they need to step their fuckn game up to become like them. I’ve always enjoyed Slayer’s music since a young kid. I always tried to overlook the imagery and all that because I vibed with the music. I believe the Bible is the word of God and I believe Jesus is the only way by blood sacrifice to the Father. It was the religious people and his own disciple that gave him over to be crucified. Even if you don’t believe what I believe, the historical evidence is overwhelming that he is the son of God but I’m not going to force anyone to believe what I believe.
