fantastic setup - I love it. Great workflow. I've been looking at the Rocket R9 machines and found your video. Just subscribed to your channel, and looking forward for more content. I am an owner of a Lelit Bianca v3, and a Ceado E6P. Always looking to learn more, because I' m quite new the last 3-4 years in the espresso world. It's such a nice and tasty hobby

Thanks for showing how the R9 works. Flow and pressure are just 2 different ways of going about making the extraction. Admittedly controlling flow makes things easier. One thing you should have taken into account is that you shouldn’t calculate pre infusion volume with an empty group head, because you have no resistance. Always do your tests with coffee because puck resistance is what controls flow and pressure. And also puck resistance differs according to grind size, dosage and roast. So a lot of factors you are leaving out.

Hi David, I have noticed you are using just the water reservoir. Some revievers say that you need the machine plumbed in to get a whole variety of pressures, but it is clear in your video you can use any pressure profile just from the reservoir...???
@weiszCoffeeАй бұрын
@@78pianist Hi Gregory, this machine can work both on reservoir and plumbed in. It uses a magnetic gear pump that controls the pressure down to the tenth of a bar no matter the water source.

Some confusing stuff here. Glad you got a good result and identified the flow/pressure differences I was about to mention. I'd steer clear of anything but the standard double-shot basket for puck consistency.
@weiszCoffee Жыл бұрын
Thank you :) As for the single basket, I agree that for this particular shot style, a double basket could be easer to work with, but in general I get with the IMS single basket considerably better and consistent shots than any double basket

I have a few quetions. I really like the design of the Rocket R Nine. But a large seller here in the USA says it has a lot of problems in general. Do you have any issues with yours? I love the design and advertised features. Also the Caedo grinder... the new Ceado Barista is going to have a few plastic parts up around the adjustment wheel and neck. Does yours have any plastic parts like the adjustment gear and the knob? I don't want cheap plastic on my future grinder. Danke Schön!
@weiszCoffee2 жыл бұрын
The Rocket R NINE ONE had a series with a faulty pump. The pump worked perfectly fine but occasionally made a squeaky sound the first 2 seconds of brew. They replaced the faulty pump and now the machine is working flawlessly

The Ceado barista is a very nice grinder, but the E37Z hero is a few steps up (also in price) It has no plastic parts and a completely deferent set of burrs with a deferent structure (no screw holes for example) and material which gives it a better grinding capabilities

Great on ya' for nailing the extraction. At 1.5bar, what is the water debit, or the water grouphead flow rate?
@weiszCoffee Жыл бұрын
This machine uses pressure profiling in contrast to the slayer that uses flow profiling. Flow rate is almost impossible to master accurately with a pressure profile mechanism, so I don't measure it
@SAW_Coffee Жыл бұрын
@@weiszCoffee when I change the pump pressure on my Quick Mill, say from 9 bar to 6, I just measure the amount of water grouphead flow, for 10 seconds, divide by 10, and that's the ml/s water grouphead flow rate. I didn't want to change my brew recipes which I developed at 9 bar, so I just set my pump back to 9.

I increased the pre infusion pressure to 1.5bar to fully saturate the pack at a 25sec time span. Then I proceed to 9bars to begin extraction. Each coffee will taste better at a slightly deferent pressure profile. On a day to day routine I usually use two saved profiles that suites the most Not sure I understand the last question

Any chance that you could do a video that shows how the volumetric parameters of the R Nine One work (ie, if you set up a profile and then use that, where does that volumetric parameter come in?). and how accurate it is (ie, do a shot limited by volume and see how accurate it is base on ml to grams conversation)... thx

@@anthonyroth1288 well.. not so much actually. When running without coffee it is quite accurate, but when running with coffee it will depend on the puck resistance. The measurement can be sometimes off by up to 4 grams

David, would you recommend the R Nine One now that you have used it for some time or something else?
@weiszCoffee Жыл бұрын
I do believe the R NINE ONE is the overall best machine out there no matter the price, but it does not mean this machine does not have its flaws.. especially with it's gear pump. Seems like there is some kind of a design issue with it, as after some time it tends to squick at the begging of the shot. I already replaced the pump once and now after a bit more than a year, it is starting to squick again

As you can see in the video, the recipe depends on the profile type you use (pressure or flow). Very nice video :) Cortado is smaller than a flat white and has much stronger taste due to the light steamed milk and smaller espresso to milk ratio, so actually I agree with you. You made a Cortado
@vancitycanucks2 жыл бұрын
Not really the Same. One pressure profiles and the other flow profiles. Meaning the rocket will jump pressure up high no matter what, where the Slayer can stay around 2bar for along preinfusion.
@weiszCoffee2 жыл бұрын
I agree. This is why I had to modify the profile to achieve the Slayer flow. Basically it is the other way from what you said. The Rocket uses a magnetic rotary pump that controls the pressure. The Slayer has a needle valve that controls the flow. This means that at the pre phase, the Slayer will have very low flow with 9bars of pressure, whereas the Rocket will straggle with a so low flow, cause it will require a 0.3bars of pressure that is not sufficient to allow the water to saturate the pack
