These machines can be awesome. However I opted for a GS3 after reading of many many issues of reliability with single group slayers. Have first hand experience of machines going down and poor service to get parts, often waiting much too long and having unusable machines. Reliability and service is paramount when dropping this kind of money on something. LM wins in this category hands down

Hi Kyle, I watched this video maybe 10-20 times already since launched, LOL. I've been wanting to upgrade my GS3 MP with either Slayer or Strada EP1, but I am enjoying my manual flow profiling using a manual paddle (3-6-9-6-3 bars while brewing), I believe Slayer only have pre-brew and full brewing and can't do manual flow profiling like GS3 MP but ofcourse this means consistency and repeatability. Can you share why you'd go for Slayer over Strada EP1? I know you mentioned, Slayer vs GS3 but Strada EP1 is the same level as Slayer than GS3. I'm a fan and keep it going bud! Cheers! Congrats with your September Coffee 💪

Really love the machine, just won’t ever be able to justify buying one to the wife! Haha

Love the video - not many people have paid $US10+k for one to use and review. Thank you! Do I understand correctly that there are two flow settings - preinfusion, and brewing? So you can’t ramp manually from one to the other - it goes directly from, in your case 2 ml/sec to 9? Hmm. BTW, isn’t 9 ml/sec basically a fire hose? In my flow profiles, I generally use around 1.5 ml/sec so I can’t quite get my head around 9 ml/sec - is that basically a turbo shot - or *incredibly* fine grounds? Am I right in saying you have to lift the lid to make those needle valve adjustmemts each time you want to make a change in flow? I’m a Decent owner, so maybe I’ve been spoiled, but a) I don’t expect to have to pop the lid every time I want to make a change, and b) I actually thought the Slayer allowed the user to manually / gradually transition from pre infusion to infusion with the paddle, rather than it just acting as a glorified switch in between. But maybe I’ve misunderstood what you’re showing here. Having said all that, she’s a thing of beauty and I’d give my right arm to have one for a month.
@micksquires2 жыл бұрын
1.5ml/sec (needle valve setting) and 9ml/sec (9bar) is the flow of water with the group fully open with no resistance (ground coffee). Yes you lift the tray and and adjust the blue knob for the needle valve, it is pretty much set and forget. It is not a pressure profiling machine

It's a nice looking machine but way to expensive for what it offers. There is no heat exchanger for the coffee boiler and no isolatian at all. Furthermore the pressure transducer breaks way too fast and isn't needed. A second pid and an internal pressure gauge would be better. There is also no usage of the 24V pump. A normal roatry vane pume would do the job better (they have it for 2 and 3 group machines). For now, you're better off buying a LM GS3. If it had the following features at the same price it might be interessting. - Volume Dosing - Hot water mixing Valve - Hot water dosing - Anti burn steam wand

@5:42 Well, at this rather ”professional price point“… Do I see this correctly that you are using an additional Acaia scale? Would you have expected them to include a scale in the drip tray - despite of having a different ”work flow“ with this machine anyway? So, their flow profiling is mainly time- and pressure-based which needs to be second by user action - and thus nothing that is determined by ”weight“?

The GS3 MP paddle does not stick, at least mine does not. you can adjust this pretty easily if it is an issue. I was lucky enough to be in your position a few years ago. There are a few reasons I did not pick the Slayer. 1) The Slayer can only be plumbed. realistically the feed method you have would not be ideal for 90% of users. 2) Cost and availability of spares. This is something that most people don’t consider. 3) Power consumption. LM is 110, Slayer is 220. That pretty much speaks for itself. Having a machine go from cold to hot 365 times a year adds a lot of wear. 4) The LM GS3 MP has no limitation when pulling a shot. The Slayer does! However, in a commercial environment, I would pick either a Slayer or Synesso. Leaning more toward a Synesso if money was not an issue.
@KyleRowsell2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the comment friend! A few things you’ve noted are out of date: 1. Slayer now has a rotary vane so no external pump is needed. You can have a water tank below with a hose and it’ll draw water. 2. Slayer is 110. This model here is 110. But I hear you. The gs3 is also beautiful. And I’d love one!
@finder22672 жыл бұрын
@@KyleRowsell Yes, the GS3 has a rotary vane as well. My point is that the solution you are using to get around plumbing is not something most people will consider. It is a liability as a gallon water spilled on wood flooring can do some major damage. Addionally you can get bacteria growth in plastic containers. why not RO and plumb a line in? I think if you lived with any machine for 6 months you will get used it.

I would have loved to see you brew a coffee with the slayer in this review.

I'd argue you're really better off cross shopping against proper 1 group commercial machines like Synesso MVP Hydra and 1 Group LM Stradas for your use case. Coming from a comercial 2 group as caleb falk mentions 240v 10A (2400W) operation is not it.

@@KyleRowsell glad that you like the machine, its awesome! I love that your production value went up dramatically for the past few months... Keep up the great work! I think your next Machine review should be the Sanremo YOU. It looks insane.
