@@David-bo5uc He also wrote some of their "bad" songs...... Diabolus in Musica, jeff wrote 10, Kerry just 1. Not saying it's a bad album,(don't think Slayer has any bad albums) but it's definitely their weakest moment. Jeff wrote (the song) World Painted Blood, that sounds very amateurish in my ears, very weak riffs. Psychopathy Red on the same album, one of Jeff's best work (I think.) Playing with Dolls, with it's "AC/DC" type of intro I don't like at all... (all Hanneman.)

Jeff also wrote Slayer's fastest and most aggressive songs, I never thought of him as the "moody" guitar player because of his well known Punk influences.

The "corner" reference was actually from a Metal Maniacs interview done with Jason Newstead back in the late 90s. He said words to the effect of Slayer being Gods, but that they painted themselves into a corner early on. And I think he means that they stopped playing in the Show No Mercy style with melody and mid tempos to explore darker music like what Possessed were doing (Dark Angel did the same thing).

+AlucardsQuest "I like my corner" loosely translates to..."I'm a lazy bastard who refuses to grow as a musician, so I came up with some hackneyed phrase in a vain attempt to justify my musical ignorance and ineptitude." I hope Kerry invested his earnings wisely, because when Slayer grinds to a halt, he's screwed royally.

1:20 What I find strange it was When The Stillness Comes intro what Kerry Completely fucked up live and what Kerry said here he tried to mimic Jeffs playing style, its like Jeff spoke from beyond the grave and said... "NO! you can't do me" Creepy : x

He's 'friends' with Iommi, Halford and Tipton? so he hangs out with them once a week, speaks to them and listens to all their problems, picks up a cheescake for them when he gets himself one? i think these celebrities lose sight of what a 'real' friend is. It's not someone you say hello to when you bump into them once a year when you meet them at a festival or an awards night.

If you are getting the Slayer discography, you are fine without Relentless, Christ Illusion and even World Painted Blood.

Thats why Metalica hasnt put out a good record in over TWENTY years. Because they didnt stay in their corner. they tried to be something other than what they are.
