Hey, my name is David Cowell and I produced and wrote this with the guys. Thought I’d introduce myself since you asked who produced it. Glad you dig the layers and textures 🤘🏻 Also to those who’ve commented, the nod to early era Linkin Park was 100% intentional and done with respect to their legacy. Check out their other tunes 🤘🏻🔥

Sleep Theory reminds me of late 90's/early 2000's rock. Mostly cleans with a touch of harsh vocals. I loved this style a lot back then. Main clean vocalist while the guitarist picks up harsh vocals. On the song length thing: This flavor of Metalcore/Melodic Nu-Metal is pretty much always in that 3-4 minute ballpark. Not sure if it's a quirk of the genre or a side effect of this sort of music getting a lot of radio playtime (also why this music is affectionately called Octane-core). As someone who grew up on bands like Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, etc. this sort of music just feels like home.

Scratching, sampling etc in metal started way back in the 80s. A band called Pop Will Eat Itself were one of the pioneers. They did a collaboration with The Prodigy called "Their Law" in which the lead singer of PWEI was the lead voice on the track. PWEI started mixing metal, punk, scratching, hip hop, rap, Industrial etc into their music since 1986. The Prodigy since 1990. Trent Reznor of the Nine Inch Nails signed PWEI to his own label stating he was a big fan & they were an influence to his music & possibly a number more? A band whose music is so underrated in the influence of others. May I suggest "There is no love between us anymore", "Wise Up Sucker" & "Can U dig it" as suggestions? Their ideology was as in their lyrics of "Very Metal Noise Pollution", Not quite, not rite Not fairly, not pretty But very metal! Sample it, loop it F**k it, eat it And spit it out! I've placed a comment on another of your KZbin posts talking about The Sisters of Mercy ft Ofra Haza - Temple of Love (1992) the extended mix is 8+ mins & still doesn't seem long! You just sail along with Andrew Eldritch's deep baritone Ofra Haza's beautifully soft tones. Sounds a very strange mix for a band formed in 1980 from the post punk scene & becoming a seminal band in the influence of the Gothic Rock scene, so much so, I've seen college kids wearing their t-shirts to this day! I'd love to hear your opinion & analyse of this track? That song & The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary. The lead singer Ian Astbury has a serious set of pipes & stage presence. All are highly uplifting! Great for driving long journeys, home after a stressful day or when you just need a serious emotional pick me up! Happy listening!

Saw their literal very first show in Memphis opening for Dayseeker. Only about 20 of us were there early enough to even see them. It’s insane how fast they’ve jumped into the fold

I've seen the guys live twice now in Madison WI. They sound exactly like the recording when playing live. Great band.
