I can't recall where I read it, but someone else said that "Vessel can say what others can't put into words and express how something feels" and I think that's very accurate. He's an amazing musician, but his lyricism is beyond the normal threshold.

Funny, I got a Sleep Token tattoo finished a week ago and my tattooist put ST on whilst he was working on me. I’m going through a really hard time at the moment and every single day is a fight to get through. I don’t talk about it. But Euclid came on and I couldn’t stop the tears coming down my face. I told my tattoo guy it was the just the needle making me cry, but he fucking knew. This song kills me and if it wasn’t for this band, I probably wouldn’t be here today. I owe them a lot ❤

This may be the best song I have ever heard. The way it builds, the message of renewal, the callbacks to other songs, the lore implications, the emotion...it has everything. I am going through my own, personal euclid right now and this song resonates so much with what I'm experiencing. I sat down last year and listened to all three albums in a row, without stopping. When the trilogy finished with this song, I was weeping. What Vessel has done with this is some of the best modern performance art of our time. "The Night Does Not Belong to God....The night belongs to you.".

The music is one thing, but if you get a chance, SEE THEM LIVE. Trust, I wasnt even as much a fan as I am now, I went with my cousin because she put me on the guest list on a whim (knew the bookers), I saw them just after lockdown in front of like 500 people? Changed my brain chemistry, in 20 years of going to live shows, nothing has come close to it. Then late last year saw them in Cardiff again but a sold out arena, wild. You can just search Cardiff 2021 and then 2024 on here and its crazy.

This song was my (re) introduction to Sleep Token. I believe I heard the first 30 seconds of "The Summoning" and (foolishly) decided it wasn't for me, and then a few months later I saw a video about this song and decided to listen to it. Once the guitars hit after "Do you remember me", I was wrecked, crying, goosebumps, everything. This band is a treasure.

When you were talking about their lyrics and were saying there's something about them I thought to myself that they write lyrics because they understand what it's like to be human. To feel pain, to love, to regret, to hurt, and to forgive. Their songs seem to be able to be the person you want to talk to most, right when you need them to be.

(Run it back, give me five whole minutes) (I am thick tar on the inside burning) it's still the autumn leaves (I've got a ghost in the hallway grinning) (And a heavy head that won't stop turning) these ancient canopies (If my fate is a bad collision) (And if my mind is an open highway) we used to lay beneath (Give me the twilight two-way vision) For me this song is the hallway between the past one wants and need to let go of. For the future you know is right there if you accept it. But can be hard. For him, it is those Ancient canopies ( In regard to his old band, and the personal stories with that )

This song is so bittersweet. It's about reminiscing the past, but not just looking back at the good days. It's facing the past's ghosts or darkness, being grateful that the bad things happened, while also being thankful that you learned from it, and cherishing the good memories. It is hope after facing all that darkness, pain, and suffering. The ending part is almost like the intro of The Night Does Not Belong to God, but the melody is different. Euclid has the conclusion of the key progression. Euclid is the conclusion while The Night Does Not Belong to God is the beginning of it all. You can think of it like two different points that you can draw a straight line between them. One of fundamental assumptions in Euclidian geometry EDIT: I am just rambling sleepily here. Take care y'all and stay hydrated.

I've been dealing with pretty bad depression going through my divorce. His lines "Call me when you get the chance, I can feel the walls around me closing in" strike me with a strong sense of desperation while not wanting to inconvenience the person on the other end of the line. I sent the same message to my best friend on a really bad night and luckily he called back immediately. I just really connect with that part though and while he doesn't really vocalize the turmoil till later in the song, if you pay attn there you can truly feel it.

Euclid is the conclusion of Sleep Token's trilogy, which includes the albums Sundowning, This Place will become Tomb and Come Back to Eden, an epilogue if you will. The lyrics are references to the songs in the 3 albums, thoughts about the process and the result. Give me 5 full minutes, and that's what we get. There is a common thread, a straight line, like with the mathematician and philosopher Euclid, proofs and results like in his book Elements, through the music and lyrics in this trilogy. The 3 albums, especially Take me Back to Eden, will be remembered in music history for the magical, the surprising yet coherent, the innovative, the sensitive, the technically perfect yet involving. What can you call something that is more than perfect.

LYRICS: Just run it back, give me five whole minutes I am thick tar on the inside burning I've got a ghost in the hallway grinning And a heavy head that won't stop turning If my fate is a bad collision And if my mind is an open highway Give me the twilight two-way vision Give me one last ride on a sunset sky lane Call me when you get the chance I can feel the walls around me closing in Just running forward, a life like wires As I see the past on an empty ceiling I play along with the life signs anyway But hope to God you don't know this feeling Yet in reverse, you are all my symmetry A parallel I would lay my life on So if your wings won't find you Heaven I will bring it down like an ancient bygone Call me when you have the time I just need to leave this part of me behind Do you remember me When the rain gathers? And do you still believe That nothing else matters? For me It's still the autumn leaves These ancient canopies That we used to lay beneath No, by now The night belongs to you This bough has broken through I must be someone new No, for me (Run it back, give me five whole minutes) (I am thick tar on the inside burning) it's still the autumn leaves (I've got a ghost in the hallway grinning) (And a heavy head that won't stop turning) these ancient canopies (If my fate is a bad collision) (And if my mind is an open highway) we used to lay beneath (Give me the twilight two-way vision) now, by now (Just running forward, alive like wires) (As I see the past on an empty ceiling) the night belongs to you (I play along with the life signs anyway) (But hope to God you don't know this feeling) this bough has broken through (Yet in reverse, you are all my symmetry) (A parallel I would lay my life on) I must be someone new (So if your wings won't find you Heaven) (I will bring it down like an ancient bygone) The whites of your eyes Turn black in the low light In turning divine And we tangle endlessly Like lovers entwined I know for the last time You will not be mine So give me the night, the night, the night

I'm so bummed you listened to this song without the whole story. Euclid is a song you have to work up to, you can't jump into it too early or else it gets spoiled. There's a dozen things that are referenced and directly shouted out from years before the song was released that paint an incredible, once in a lifetime type, story pay off moment. If that makes sense. When I listened to this song at midnight (ish) when the album released, I literally cried myself to sleep. Bawling. I don't cry very much, but this ruined me on a level I haven't had replicated since.

Euclid... "the base BC will coincide with the base EF and will be equal to it" - A copy of the same. The Greek Mathematician - the Godfather of Elements - Euclid. The meaning of the titel of the last song..when putting all of the lore and lyrics into this equasion, will leave you with wonders and speculation of thoughts about the entity, the worship. The copy of himself, in a self sacrifising state, to write 3 masterpieces, who incorporated elements, mystery and possibly a hurt poet, struggling with loosing someone, who was his entire world. Or..did he just capture us, digital demons, with heart-breaking, genius compositions. Creating what mankind for centuries has been worshipping. A god, but with relatable, heart breaking emotions. He made us come together, to worship around a struggling deity. Did - The night belong to God - or did it belong to us? Because he created it for us. Regardless..the endless deep-diving and speculating has come to an end. I wonder how long, how many years, he spent creating this..copy of the same. I cannot stop to think that hopefully, someday, you will come forward, and receive the recognition of many. The night will always belong to you. That was the place, where you Ascended. And you were always divine, even without the whites turning black. It was more than just a Sleep Token. It was an Awakening. It was a Miracle by Daylight. Thank you. It was journey. @Sleep-Token

There is so much to break down with this song to break down. There are countless references to other songs the walls are closing in as an inverse of lyrics from another song. I'd recommend listening to the tmbte album and the night does not belong to God. Re listen to Euclid it changes your view on the song. The trilogy of albums is the stages and sorrow and love in a toxic relationship and this is a sort of goodbye to that relationship.

Vessel has been writing these kinds of lyrics since way before Sleep Token with his previous projects. I won't name them but if you know you know. The man just oozes talent.

Its kindof hard to fully interpret the lyrics to this song in isolation, because just about every line is a callback to another of Vessels (not just sleep tokens) songs.

My brother in law was in a corporate box to see ST live in Manchester at the end of last year. He met Vessel’s (Leo Faulkner) dad and talked to him for a few minutes. Leo’s dad said he has always been a really shy kid, but always expressed himself through music. The mask grants him some form of anonymity and gives him a reason not to talk and lets people make up their own interpretations about the meaning of his songs.
