That last one I could remember as far back when I might've been starting nursery school (I would later thought that the cartoon was made some years before I was born). I could remember how that theme song starts as well as what I thought I heard "Go-Go." After NEVER hearing about it all these years, when watching this video, there's that familiar song! it was like "Hey, I remember this! It's been YEARS since I've seen it. I didn't know what it was about (I was only a little kid, ya know)." NOW, I know that it was "DoDo, the Kid from Outer Space." I also now know that they speak in rhymes. How it bought back a memory from waaaay back when!

Another great mix. Firstly a classic (well, at least for me) scene from Assignment Outer Space. The remarks about the relativity of speed (perception) and space tin can coop up anxiety are 2 of the many gems in the script, although it is followed by one of the low points. Did they really have to put that Christmas bit in? Or did somebody foresee it would be a handy tie in for this channel so many decades in the future? The whole "universe" of this movie condensed into 2 extremes. Well chosen. The third bit about the difficulties of space navigation should be mandatory material for many but particularly for sci fi script writers. Luckily we nowadays have The Expanse to watch, which gets it right most of the time.🙂

Amazing advice for a bomb so powerful no amount of preparation would have helped other than a solid deep bomb shelter or a family meeting point and super fast escape route as far away as possible providing they would even know it was coming

Space navigation and slide rules....still very much in use for the first missions (does ANYBODY remember a slide rule?) As for the civil defense film it just reminds me how much I enjoy Fallout.

7:58 I wonder if this is still true today? Or if it's laughably simple for even basic navigational computers to figure out?

The science hasn't changed. Nowadays one might expect an AI operated setup which does it all the scanning, measuring and computing for you but light is still the most appropriate tool. Now you however know why people keep getting lost in space in sci fi movies all the time. They simply never learned these basics. "Oh, capt'n, the processor board just fried." Ever seen Dany Boyles Sunshine? 🙂

Uh huh. 'Meat[' means the other parts of a carcass which are composed of muscle tissue; snouts, hearts, stomachs and anuses.

What makes me cringe is hearing “Man” this and “Man” that instead of humankind. Amazing how inferior that sounds now

the words man and human have been interchangeable since the beginning of language. It's only recently everyone forgot this

As a woman, im not personally offended. I agree that for me, the word mankind is automatically inclusive of females as well. I guess it’s just relative.

What makes me cringe is people thinking saying man is cringe. It’s only this snowflake generation that would get offended.
