Great to see it all coming along, really would love to hear more on how you fitted the window and some expenses. Just a quick one, usually I see windows installed after the liner has gone in on a liner pond, how will you fix the liner to the window frame to get the seal. Is it an overlapping frame like how you might fit a skimmer ? A lot more content than my old waffle :D keep it up and good to see another fellow young koi keeper on here !
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I'll do a whole video on the window once I've got it in. I'm just sealing the liner to the back of the glass with silicone. It should be fine. The glass manufacture recommend it that way, said you don't get creases in the liner wich is mostly what causes leaks. That's the plan anyway, never done it before so we will see what happens 🤞
@Simonsimps3 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 It will be fine. Just try not to put a massive thick bead of silicone, try to get the bead about 10mm thick and squash it to 5mm. I used a plastic scraper to rub along the liner to squash the silicone flat. If you want it neat do it in 2 goes and let the first bit go off first then you can trim the bit to the reveal better because the gone off silicone will be holding the liner still. Don't be tempted to squash the liner flat to the glass on the very edge, keep that 5mm of silicone behind it otherwise it will peel away over time. Good luck, I'm sure it will be fine. Cheers.

Nice one... approaching this stage myself but wanted to let mine dry out a bit first. I'm sure I got told to drill through to make holes in the bottom gasket, but may well do what you've done. I always thought the silicone went underneath the liner... seems to be how pond digger does it? but I can see this way working also. Very interested to see how window method works out too. I started out thinking of doing liner attached to rear of window but the changed my mind... still worried about those corner creases when doing it the other way.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
Might be a good idea to pre drill the holes. I did think about it but decided not too. It didn't crack or anything so think it's fine. Saved having to line them up. I put the silicone above and below the liner to be on the safe side. In all honesty it would probably seal without any sealant. The liner acts as a gasket and should be watertight on its own (not that I would risk it)
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I was worried about creases in the corner of the window too that's why I'm doing it this way. I'll let you know how I get on. Time will tell if it was a mistake or not 🤞
