Sleeping in a Ford Fiesta - a comfortable bed even for tall people!

I like that ideas as my current car is indeed a Fiesta Active, so thanks for showing me in particular how I can use its potential and save a bit of money that otherwise would go on hotel bills.

I drive a fiesta also. I usually sleep in my tent but will try in the car at some point.

You could also become a bit "crafty" and construct a lightweight subfloor from 3 layers of 2 inch thick Styrofoam sheet. Use the boot carpet mat as the rough template and trace the basic shape of that onto the foam sheets. Then, make clean saw cuts of each sheet with a new hacksaw blade. Repeat the process onto a half sheet 4'X4' of 1/8 thick luan underlayment plywood ( used in residential vinyl floor covering installs) as the hard surface to glue automotive grade boot compartment carpeting to. The result is you will have a much better sleeping area to accommodate your bedding or sleeping bag. As a bonus, that subfloor will be very light and easy to remove to get access to the spare tire and jack!

My Fiat Lounge is like your car. That piece you removed is the trunk cover :). I say thingy a lot too, LOL. In my Fiat the trunk 'floor' can be adjusted, raised to meet the level of the folded down back seat. But I will need to sleep on my folded down forward front seat with my feet in my back seat. I just need to find the right thing for a good support in the foot space so I can sit on that to get in and out of 'bed'. Probably a 1/2" board. And I can put things under it. I will need to leave the back driver side floor clear and the seat normal to get in and out. Maybe you can move your bed to the passenger side and move your front seat forward for more room? Then you can use driver side to store your clothes and other things. Have fun, stay safe!

What I did was take out the lower back seat.( the part you sit on ) Keep the back part of the seat. (Where your back rests) Now lower the back part of the seat and voila! lots of space in the back..... basically flat. Can revamp higher or lower with quilts or whatever. Bliss for me:):) Lots of pillows and comfy things.

Just watched a video on how to remove the lower back seat of my Kia Rio but so scared I wouldn't be able to put it back again 😅 that would be amazing though! So flat!

If you put your front seats forward, lift up the back seat you sit on and then they will fold flat

The lightbulb moment. I was thinking, buy a trailer, building a box, fit the box with a foam mattress. It may not be warm, but it'll be warmer than a tent. Or spending £1,500 - £3,500 on a roof tent. Then suddenly, "why not sleep in the car itself?" I do have a regular tent, but there's something exciting about just jumping into a premade sleeping area while on the move. Like the closest I'll get to having a ship. Plus, the local police can be funny with wild camping. Thank you.

Already been said but as if you did 0 research to find out the seats go flat haha could have been so much more space and so much more comfortable if you did 30 seconds of research 😂🤣 Edit: Wait you actually googled it and still didn't pull the back seats up to make the seats go fully flat!?!?!? Howww you slept in such a horrific spot when it could have been so much nicer!! I can only assume a substantial amount of alcohol or drugs were used to sleep in that because god damn it would take a horse tranquilizer for me to sleep in that!!

Thanks for the different perspective of micro car camping without removing the seats. I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta hatchback. I envisioned removing all 3 additional seats. I believe I will try your version first. Have a great day!

I removed the back seat completely and I am able to create a bed for my 6'3 tall frame. I love converting cars into campers !
