Apologies for the sound at the 2min mark. Not sure what happened but it is short-lived. What I am talking about is where I keep my head-lamp and how it is extremely versatile in that location. In the door I keep a blue shower curtain as seat cover for the front seat and also where I keep my stove and spoon.

Thank you! That head lamp use idea, as a reading or task light is super. I’ve been storing the headlamp on the headrest and only just started using it in situ, without removing it and strapping it on my head. Your suggestion to remove the 60% seat is a good one, then my living area is bigger than my sleeping area which mirrors life in an apartment and makes more sense, I appreciate your time and ideas.

I have a Ford Fiesta hatchback and I’ve converted it into a camper as well! I did mine slightly different. It’s cool to see that I’m not the only one camping out of my lil Fiesta! 😁

Good deal. It certainly takes some thinking outside the box to make it work...but I like that it's so stealthy...most people aren't going to think someone is camping in a Fiesta when parked up for the night. Less obvious than a van.

Why are earth do you put yourself through something like this living in that little car I feel sorry for the dogs that’s just the craziest thing you do I just can’t believe you show where your laundry is where your food is just would be ashamed to show all that can’t you just rent a little apartment and live like a normal person does with your two dogs

@@gordonfinch4446 dude go work your ass off for a house and than come back crying in your debt. Don't judge other's people choices, most of the time they have another point of view that's years away from yours. Learn to respect. And btw what you're saying is insane cause food and laundry stay together even if you're backpacking, this shows how little you know
@lmaoroflcopter
@lmaoroflcopter 3 жыл бұрын
@@gordonfinch4446 way to go making the assumption that they live in their car, you can own a car and own or rent a house at the same time, they aren't mutually exclusive. I guess you've never spent a night under canvas either Gordon, too much effort for you I imagine. It's no different to pitching a tent in terms of hassle, in fact one could say its considerably less hassle given its literally moving a seat forward and rolling out a bed vs unpacking and pitching a tent and it clearly works well for her and her dogs.

Very inspiring, we all need an escape route! I toured Scotland in my Ford fusion for 10 days and I was so comfy. I want to make it more stable like you have. I might end up living in mine full time so I want a roof rack and box eventually. As I was alone in my trip I was able to pee ok in the car, and do a full body wash, but I missed showers, as everywhere was closed on my trip. Thank you for being such an inspiration to us out here. You are appreciated very much.

@@rooeykate Hi, sorry it took me so long to reply.... I have a 2' 6'' bed on the passenger side. At night I just push the front seat forward and the back rest too.. I was very comfortable indeed. I cooked outside and kept my stuff behind the drivers side in boxes and I had my mattress on top of storage too. I am 5' 6'' so height might be harder for you if you are very tall.

Nice. I've done videos on my VW Touran build which I got last year to replace the Fiesta...so much more space. By charger for phone/ tablet I assume you mean the multiple-plug charge ports I use that I plug into the cigarette lighter/12v outlet. The link is in the description of the video but this is the one I have: www.amazon.co.uk/Cigarette-Splitter-3-Socket-Separate-Voltmeter/dp/B085ZFGBBM

I've had a thirsty Fiesta in the past,now in a 6 year old ultra eco Bmax with acres more space,seats go flat but basically same chassis as a smaller hatchback Recommend a 12v plug in shower for those out of the way spots,one end suctions onto car,the other in bucket of hot water..I think mine was around £15 online (Or Indian style bucket wash inside largest IKEA storage unit works too!)

I have been tempted by those but with limited privacy and space I have put the idea of a shower aside for now. I used a solar shower when my truck was my roadtripping vehicle in the US and there were millions of acres of public land to find privacy. I like the Bmax though...when it's time to sell I will look at something bigger

great vlog when i used to live in my car i used to sleep in the front seat and i am 6ft tall and its comfy enough all i would say if you sleep in the front seat etc make sure you can extend your legs fully so that you dont get cramp etc but i used to live in a vauxhall astra and i used to keep everything in the boot with parcel shelf in normal position but used to acess contents from the boot from within the car via the rear split seats etc and to do this you need to keep the back seats empty to access the boot etc and i used to keep tinned food in the passenger doorwell etc and i usedto buy a drive thru breakfast which if you buy a hot coffee it removes the need to carry a cooking stove etc and you can use the bathroom facilities at a drivethru or service station or supermarket etc free showers are available at motorway service stations etc hope my experience off living in a small car helps

Just come across this video. As another comment said, it's quite difficult to find a good UK set up. Thanks for making it. I'm taking my 3 year old for a night's car camping in a couple of weeks in a ford focus estate (I need the estate as I'm 5'11") for the first time. She's been in tents loads but never a basic car set up. It'll be interesting to say the least.

Hello dear. Well! You have certainly helped in my decision to 'rearrange' my 12 year old Peugeot hatchback. I've already had to sleep in it for several months last year, alongside my very heavy pollycotton tent so am familiar with its advantages and limitations. Being 5. 1' on one side and 4.11' on the other (got a few Dodgy bits about the body), I am ok to get in and out as I've developed my own little methods for doing things because of the limitations in my joints. So far I've done ok but I want improve my living/sleeping area. Atm, I am in temp accommodation but don't ever want to go back permanently to conventional living and one day hope to have a campervan. Sadly, my lovely air tent is now too big and heavy for me to manage so I shall get a trailer tent instead. There are some very well priced ones out there to fit my car. This will also give me the privacy needed for the essential loo! As for showers there are always the camping and caravan club sites of which I am a member. And of course swimming pools! At nearly 66 and about to draw my state pension, I need to get moving again and be outdoors. I've hid away for the last 6 months so time to hit the road again (hopefully not literally.) But do need to look at converting my car. While the seat fold down good it would give me so much more room with the back ones out. So any suggestions and/or advice from you or your viewers would be most welcome. It's just me. No animals or other humans! 🙋🙏🙂

I didn't. I would sit in pubs in winter to stay warm and then crawl into bed which was toasty. Light was limited by a dark tint and fitted sun shades. Daylight at 4am was fine with an eye mask, but it was the headlights in some places that were frustrating. Mostly it didn't bother me.

I've moved into a 7-seater Touran. I have two tour/update videos on them on this channel also. I didn't have any window covers in the Fiesta other than Car Shade brands sunshades (great for having windows down and bug protection as well as privacy...look nice too as fitted inside rather than over the door). In my Touran I have the same Car Shade brand sun shades but also fitted double-layered curtains with a dark layer as a liner and pretty nature-print on the other side. I have the same for the rear although that is a cord rather than a curtain rail. In the front I use double-layered Zatatoo window curtains (black layer outside, blue for decor inside - they are not thick enough to block much light as a single layer). I also have a thick fabric shower curtain (with button holes not grommets) I can put up between the passenger compartment and the cockpit but rarely use it.

I searched the comments to see if this question had already been asked but was unable to find anything…Do you mind sharing what mattress or foam you use abs where you got it? And how difficult is it to remove the bottom seat? Do you put it back in in between trips? I have a fiesta also and I am in the process of the ting to figure out how to build it out…but I will only be a weekend warrior and will need my back seat for when I get my grandkids and such. Thank you so very much for your help!! Your setup is exactly what I want!

I got the foam for my mattress from GB Foam Direct as good prices and they could cut it to the size and shape I wanted. Free delivery too. The bottom seat is a bit of a pain to remove but definitely not as bad as some cars and because I built a wooden platform to support the mattress I never put it back in until I sold it. You could definitely build a platform over the seats without removing the seat base cushions but would definitely leave a little less head height. Either approach is doable but I think if you need your back seats then building a boot jump to go over the seats is your best bet

Brilliant! A truly awesome set up - hard work - but awesome. I fell in love with you the second you popped that bottle of Hop House 13 from your boot to the floor at 8:10 😂 A new SUB from me June 2021. I can only see two minor things that would make your life MUCH more bearable... A cheap, (or expensive if you wish) pop up gazebo that would cover the rear of the car when cooking, raining etc...I have one for exactly that reason with my Camper-car.....And secondly, a roof rack with a roof box to store it and a few other bits in. When I added a roof box to mine ... the amount of extra space was amazing! Love this video. 👍🏻

Thank you. As far as the suggestions...couldn't agree more. As far as the first (the gazebo): I am always stealth camping in remote areas so the awning would just have been too obvious, but yes, if I was utilizing campsites...absolutely. And the second...I didn't want to put too much money into the build as it's never going to be a forever car. In fact keep your eyes out for a new video in August!!!
