i can’t help it but I’ve always had a soft spot for Aileen, she went through so much terrible things in her life it was inevitable that she would snap. What she needed was people to care for her and help her but she just kept getting hurt until she lost her mind. Monsters make monsters.

I agree. I can't stand people who abuse children, because this can be the end result. I don't believe Aileen should have been put to death. She was also under the influence of drugs and alcohol most of her life, which also affected her I'm sure.
@midgetwthahacksaw

jenny h I truly don't. I can empathize with serial killers with a terrible past but, I will never feel sorry for them. They still made a choice and Aileen is no different. Because she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, that makes what she did better? No. It makes it even WORSE. Alcohol and drugs alter your state of mind. You aren't completely aware of your actions or in control of your cognitive thoughts when under the influence. That, combined with her unbalanced and rapidly deteriorating mental state, sent her over the edge. She was already having issues and those two things made a bad mix and affected her brain chemistry. There are reasons why people on certain meds or with certain mental issues (like depression, which is one) should NOT take these things because it makes it WORSE. She probably took these things so she could cope but, that's still not an excuse. She took things that further harmed her mental state and she snapped. She killed seven people. I will never feel sorry for a person who chooses to go out and take the lives of others, be they good people or bad. She doesn't have the right to pass judgement because of her past. She doesn't have the right to extract vengeance based on her emotional mindset. I don't believe in the death penalty but, she should be left to rot in prison for the lives she took and destroyed. I might empathize with her but, I will never say "oh, poor Aileen".

ganymedeIV4 Exactly. Something she doesn't deserve. Edit: She deserves to serve out her sentence till the end. I don't feel pity for her, I feel disgust. She deserves to live out her sentence the same as all the rest. She's not better than others because her past is tragic. Lots of serial killers have tragic pasts. It's no excuse.

ganymedelV4 My english isn't very good but i'll try to express the way I feel regarding death penalty; killing serial killers is giving them a favor; it's a quick death, which most of them don't deserve; They need to reflect on their actions, to realize the pain that they caused and if they can't do that (because of mental illness/disorders) they need to be kept alive in order to be studied. By studying criminal psychopaths/sociopaths/pedophiles/whatever, we could understand what exactly caused them to be this way and so, preventing other mentally unstable people from snapping and going on rampages. We could also develop medications for their illnesses and trying different medical techniques on them. What I'm trying to say is that even if they can't (and souldn't) be reestablished into society, they can still be useful to it in their own ways. Also; so many innocent people have been killed because of death penalty.

Aileen Wournos asked my grandfather for a ride once. He was parked at a shopping center on Beeville rd in Daytona. He told her he couldn't because my grandmother was inside the store and she would be coming out any time. He said she seemed very nice and that he felt bad for her because it was raining and she was soaking wet. He told me 3 weeks later he saw her on the news, arrested for murder. He never got over that and used to tell people all the time that he met a serial killer and lived to tell.

Barbara Martinez the nature vs nurture question is age old. Can’t even rehash that as there is no real way to know for sure. Supposedly that was one the experiments with twins that Hitler was working on. Idk if that’s true but I heard that somewhere he wanted to answer that question better. Would be interesting to know more on this but I bet we will never answer this in our lifetimes.

stella rowen it is a real thing however as I said it’s been an age old question of where nature ends and nurture begins and vice versa. It’s still unclear along with many things in the human brain. There have been people went through horrid stuff and come out awesome people and there have been people come from ideal homes and become monsters. It’s just unclear. It’s known environmental factors play a part of who we are but it impacts everyone different is all I am saying. We will never know how she would have been in a better environment.

The life she endured, starting as a young child, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Her life was a life of simply surviving and keeping hope that one day she’d find someone to love her. Aileen had a hellish life since she was a little girl. Everybody betrayed her since she was born. How could this poor woman not to snap finally? She did not deserve to be killed by the government. I feel empathy for her, her life was a nightmare, abused, victimized during all her life. I do not condone the killings she committed, but I can understand her rage, her sadness, she was tired of being a victim and then she went to the other extreme: being a predator. May she rest in peace. This documentary is a real gem. What a shame that KZbin had demonetize this video, there is no appreciation of art, mastery in making videos like this ones. @dontswin
@dontswin 5 жыл бұрын
I suppose it all comes down to if you believe her words. She still got the death penalty. I never said she should be vindicated because they were rapists. Dead men tell no tales. What makes you think she was telling the truth? Consider the fact that she might be considered a psychopath by killing multiple men. No matter how you look at it, she may have played the self defense card but the fact is the law levied the ultimate punishment. I guess the question really is 'does a rape or attempted rape of a prostitute justify killing them on the spot? I can't answer that one. None of the murders played out the same exact way, no one can verify that.@@niccolom4556
@niccolom4556
@niccolom4556 5 жыл бұрын
dontswin Well, nothing in her behavior suggests she killed random people, and she was actually charged for killing her rapist. The guy that DID rape her. She flat out said she was raped by him but not the others (they were just going to rape, as in ,beginning to force/get violent). You are aware of her childhood, so you should know what triggers her. She didn't meet those men to kill them from the start. She was trying to make money. She's well aware of which guys are scumbags, and she didn't kill every guy that crossed her path like some psycho serial killer. Its amazing how rapists can literally rape a child and be out of prison in 5-7 years. I'd bet my money none of those sleezebags were upstanding men. Good riddance. There was no justice for her and what happened to her, her whole life.

The film Monster and anything dealing with Alieen fascinates me. I feel that a lot of female sex workers have had a similar past as hers. The question in my mind isn’t “How could she do what she did, was it really in self defense?” but after knowing the repeated sexual, physical and verbal abuse these women have to deal with-the real question is “Why doesn’t this happen more often?”

Nightmare Theater Because it takes a hell of a lot mentally for a person to kill another. Yes, she snapped but others might not. Some take the bad things that happen to them and grow from it. Others let it destroy them. It's about being strong on the inside. I think most people chose not to take out their terrible past out on others because not only is it wrong, but they want to be good people. When a person "snaps", they only care about their own gratification and nothing else. The general population isn't going to do these type of things. It takes not just the past, but also a special kind of event in the present to send someone over the edge.

We know that claiming abuse is a common defense tactic when trying to justify the crime after you cannot argue it away. It has been proven to be a false claim so many times that we have to be skeptical. Even a repentant and already imprisoned person will parrot that narrative for themselves and others until their death. No matter what the truth is, she made dozens of terrible life choices and shouldn't be celebrated for that. Her legacy is that of a murderer. Nothing more.

You do understand that those men were all cheating on their wives or s.o's, they were abusive to her, and were seeking prostitutes, right? Not to mention the notion of what kind of men they were at home. So what exactly are you thanking god for, again?

I saw one, twice. Ghost, spectre, poltergeist, not sure which it was, but it took on the form of my teenage daughter. She is on the autism spectrum, and likes to walk around the house with a blanket wrapped around her head and body, it comforts her. Well one night I woke up and saw her standing beside my bed, close enough to touch. (She usually would crawl into bed with me each night.) It was dark so I could just see her silouhette, with the blanket around her. I said, "Hey Cheyenne, what are you doing?" No answer. I just laid there. I told myself "I'm awake, this is really happening" Eventually I just rolled over and drifted back off. A week or so later I saw the same shape, walking across the bedroom. I figured it was my daughter coming into bed with me. So I reached behind me and pulled back the covers. I didn't feel her get into bed, so I got up, went downstairs, and there she was, sound asleep on the couch. So yeah, it was definitely something.

Aileen Wuornos was always my favourite serial killer. She didn't kill people for no reason, or so she claimed. Every man she killed, she said either attempted to rape her or did rape her during her time as a sex worker. I'm so happy and somewhat emotional to see this video directed and filmed so respectfully. Instead of labelling her something she wasn't, you told her story. I hope that she rests well now, away from the torment of her life. I almost admire her for her strength to fight for what she thought was right, although she undoubtedly was clinically insane. She was a regular person exposed to irregular circumstance. I'm also incredibly pissed off that KZbin has demonetized this video. What the fuck is in this video that deserves demonetization?? It's a DOCUMENTARY, and it's not graphic. Wtf.

Oh cut the crap. Just because you've been wronged, gives you no reason to hurt others. There are plenty of people out there who have suffered equally, if not more horrific lives, who haven't killed others. Cut the bullshit already.

Absolutely, I completely agree. It's so fucked up. Sex workers are human beings, and it seems like the majority of their clients and the world look upon them in a degrading, dehumanizing manner. It really saddens me. You must be an incredibly strong person to have made it through that. Most people don't even talk about this issue, and that saddens me too. My heart goes out to you and all who may have suffered/suffer through traumatic experiences like that. Love and peace.

Obviously killing is wrong, which is why I literally said she's clinically insane. Second of all, her race has nothing to do with anything, stop being a willful bigot.
