6pm- tired 7pm- tired 8pm- tired 9pm- tired Bedtime- ENERGY
@aurograce29835 жыл бұрын
The Undying Fighter this is me most school days, which is why I start homework at 9 or10 and go to sleep around 11-12. Thankfully I have a car now so I can get away with waking up at 7:40 and barely making it to school on time at 8:15. I’m usually alright after third period but get tired after lunch, during my hard classes, which I didn’t do as well in partially because that’s when I get tired. Then my energy picks up about one or two hours from when I get back from school, I get tired again, and am awake when I’m supposed to be sleeping. We talked about this in school and the teenager sleep problem, but nobody’s done anything about it because it would “inconvenience the elementary parents and they’d have to change the bus routes”. If they picked up the elementary kids first, and then went back later around 8:30 to pick up the middle school and high schoolers to start school at 9, I wouldn’t complain. Plus scores would probably go up a lot considering they place our standardized tests in the morning before lunch when many of us are tired and didn’t have time to get breakfast. I’m just saying. Sorry for the rant.

It's actually more of a chain reaction. Your state issues out useless end of semester exams you have to take, which then pushes back education so you have to learn more useless things, and then that means you don't get as much free time, then it turns into bringing it all home, and then your sleep is affected. It's not always the school's fault. But we do need to hold the state and the district accountable.

If you can't it's because you're not giving the body what it evolved to need for sleep. #1 If you live in a wintery/cloudy climate invest in sunrise alarm clocks that will fill your room with light in the morning. #2 install a program called flux on your computer which will eliminate blue-light from the screen after a certain hour. #3 Drink some water when you wake up. Hydration helps with alertness. #4 no eating anything for at least 2.5 hrs before bedtime. These things will help fix it.

School staff and teachers say this because they REFUSE to submit to change. They see how generations are billions of years ahead of the older generation's intellect (not intelligence, INTELLECT) due to videogames, and try so hard to downgrade the actual education we need by claiming "videogames cause violence" - they don't want newer generations to come to be different, because god forbid you express an opinion associated with videogames. @LG-xg8fw6 жыл бұрын
@@enolp It's because the standards of the industrial era still apply. Working in a office is the same as working in a factory. That's why school trains children to learn to follow commands instead of thinking for themselves. Because most of these people will be employed by someone else, who can do all the decision making for them. Don't try to change school. Use school to become who you want to be. Knowing how school works helps you break the mould.

Enolp exactly, School System: Kids are way too stressed out? Let's add 5 more standards talking about it that the health teachers have to teach in one semester, only 45 minutes classes every other day, then we'll put 10 tests for the 5 new standards because they are unprepared for the real world. I'm sure that even though the teachers can barely teach all the original information in a semester that they will just be able to adjust and speed up the pace of their class.

Surprisingly, I get so much more sleep now in college than I did in high school, and it's definitely because I was able to choose a schedule with later start times. I have the best circadian rhythm now, I usually don't even need an alarm. Now I can pay attention and be engaged in class because I'm not running on three hours of sleep.
@Nicole39006 жыл бұрын
That's how I was too! When I was a freshman in college my classes all started at 10/10:30 am at the earliest and it was PERFECT for me. I'd sleep until 9, go to classes, and be SO much more alert/awake for them. Going to a class at 7 or 8 in the morning was just too early for me! I'd be exhausted during those classes and not be able to learn! Some of us learn better later in the day.
@brookles61776 жыл бұрын
i wasn't quite so lucky as a freshman, because I did have classes where the only section left when I registered or that fit with the rest of my schedule was a 7:30. Those days sucked, but the other days, not so much. After I became a junior it slowly started becoming easier for me to wake up early. Now that I'm a senior, I can easily fall asleep earlier, and wake up earlier. It is pretty easy to feel how your biological clock shifts. My 730 classes are a bit early for my internal clock, but I only wake up about an hour earlier than I naturally do on the weekends, so the adjustment isn't as extreme as getting less than 5 hours of sleep.

This! This whole talk. I can't tell you how many days I went to high school completely fogged up and miserable because I never got enough sleep. It didn't matter when I planned to go to bed, because my teachers gave us an inane amount of work to do (to be due the next day) and then I was expected to have a job, and we never got done on time, so I got 5 hours sleep tops. Then you're expected to be doing your best in school when really you can barely get food down your throat before running to a bus stop where the bus packs everyone in to a school where kids are "tired and wired" and easily agitated. Then the teachers would yell at you if you weren't paying attention. How could I pay attention when I was constantly sleep deprived? Also, what was the point of repeating the same lesson of American history four years in a row? The policy needs to change. Teenagers develop in a specific way and there needs to stop being an expectation that teens need to be adults immediately. That is an insane person thought.

, the evidence is in that disciplining self to go to bed no later than 9;30-10pm will release up to double the melatonin level which, besides balancing our circadian rythm, is the chemical that cements into our long-term memory those things that we have learned the day before. by then doing that & having the body wake early, it has proven to improve memorization skills since it's been shown that, regardless of the type of person, morning time is superior for the task of committing things to memory while afternoon better for non-memorization skills such as math, etc..

I have a very rare illness called Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS). It means I tend to sleep way to much when I have my attacks ( think 20~22 h out of 24 for about 3 days) It tends to develop during adolescence. It took me and my parents years to understand what was going on, because doctors would chalk it up to me being an adolescent. One even said in front of me, to my mom, that "she's just on her phone all night, that's why she wakes up at 4pm on weekends." These stereotypes also keep people who have very real health problems from getting diagnosed.

Are you struggling or something with grades and friends? If there is a reason be a man (hypothetically) and either fix it or get rid of it from your life , if you can't find a reason maybe it's mindset that needs to be looked at , but I'll tell you one thing letting yourself use it as an excuse is not the right thing to do , no matter how dull you feel make the effort to get up and try live normally while healing yourself at the same time. You gotta realize to that a few months after finishing highschool so many social boundaries and rules from school just go out the window , everyone finds themselves in some way or another , even look at people's Facebook's who are after leaving school last year and how much they change , shy people come out of there box and sometimes shock you with there statuses because you very rarely know people's true selves in school because many haven't found it, hope you can take something positive from my ramble

And this is one of many reasons I jumped at the opportunity when my mom suggested I try home-school after I finished 6th grade. And despite what home-school critics will argue, it worked out phenomenally well for me. I started doing substantially better at my schoolwork because I could do the work at hours of my own choosing, so long as I got it all done within a certain time frame. Did that all the way through high school, and scored in the 90th percentile in three out of the four GED tests. Also, it allowed me more time and energy to spend time with friends, family, and my community at large, so I feel like I'm actually more mentally stable than most people I know who went to public school.
@aiiiia99716 жыл бұрын
Anna Ewing Yeah, I feel you. Me and my mom chose to send me to public school (after a lifetime of homeschool) at my freshman year of high school, and the change was an enormous slap, no, punch in the face. But I must admit, homeschooling had stopped working for me for any reasons, including that I have low self control and terrible time management. If there was no deadline, nothing got done, and my parents weren't with it either because of big responsibilities and stuff in the fam. My education really faltered and we had to do something, and I was lonely and lacked social skills big time too. Now in my Junior year of high school, still a procrastinator, but at least I have the tools I need and expectations to meet, and MUCH NEEDED social interaction and learning of relationship skills. But... at the same time, it's a noisy, stressful environment, and my sleep schedule is (still) a bit of a mess. Can't win 'em all, I guess? Public and Homeschool are so diff, it's hard to compare them, especially because homeschooling varies so much from fam to fam too. But the most obvious thing is that schooling has to be more tailored to the student. Different students thrive in different learning environments, and the fact that the school system treats them all with equal crappiness isn't helping. Fix the system first, dangnammit. There are certain guidelines you should meet for the better of the students in general, more sleep for example. Anyway gotta go to bed. Hah I'm a mess... I think
