The thing most people don't get about Slenderman, specifically the Marble Hornets version, is that it isn't supposed to take many direct actions. It sits on the sidelines and watches it's victims go mad, only taking people when they're either dead or in the way of spreading the virus. That's why I love that version of it.

if i would make a slenderman movie. Slender A country town has recently had several disappearances, the sheriff of the town calls for help from a big city police department. They send in an investigator who believe that the kids are being kidnapped. He gets into the town and starts by asking around about anyone acting strange. Seeing he would need to find more evidence he decides to venture into the forest for clues, keeping some white latex glove for if he finds evidence. An hour passes before he comes across a kids back pack that had been torn off, a note book on the ground. Looking into the note book he finds one of the notes with a depiction of slender man with the word 'run'. He searches some more, not finding anything before it starts to get unusually dark. He leaves and goes back to looking at what he had. He asks one of the parents if they could offer anything up, to which he gets access to a phone. He finds that the phone had several images of a figure in the darkness though it just looks mostly like a tree. He finds that the kid was reading about and researching something called the slender man, he looks into it as well but decides that this was a dead end as the kid just liked scary stories... (this would be around the halfway point of the movie now with some filler interviews to build up the tension as he learns that disappearances like this happened a years before) The protagonist goes out a second day to find any clues yet again, this time accompanied by the sheriff. They find some more notes on the trees with the depictions of slender man, after finding a few they are rather frustrated. As they walk they come across an abandoned construction site for a small house in the center of the forest, they start to investigate (first death lol) the sheriff hears the sound of static upstairs and follows it, he comes across a small teddy bear that was owned by one of the youngest missing kids. Before the sheriff can yell out, he is confronted by the slender man. He is brutally ripped apart as the screen becomes filled with static, it then suddenly snaps back to normal with the room now empty. The investigator realizes that the sheriff is gone and begins to look around and call out for him, while searching finds the sheriff's badge covered in blackened blood. The sky was now darkening and the investigator decides to try to make it back. (this is where the real horror begins) On his way back to town he begins to hear static buzzing, and thinks he sees someone in the woods, he goes to see who it was only to find nothing. He begins to freak out thinking some deranged killer was out there with him, pulling out his hand gun as he finds himself somehow back at the construction site. His sanity begins to dwindle as he sees the figure off in the woods every now and then. He takes a few shots at the figure only to see nothing happen. He gets the horrid feeling of being watched and decides to barricade himself in a room upstairs, only to realize that whatever it was that was stalking him was now behind him. He turns and shoots at the slender man emptying his gun. The screen turns to static more and more as the black tendrils envelop him and the screen before everything suddenly snaps and there is nothing there, its starting to become dark outside as the slender man has finished his hunt. The End?

Sounds like an old slenderman game i played on the PC 10 years ago. The character is in the woods and the objective is to find pieces of notebook paper, but randomly your screen will static and that would mean Slenderman is near you. You can look around and you'll see he gets closer to you. Was an interesting game for something that seemed low budget.

Hollywood seems to not understand that when you make a movie that's going to be based off of an already existing character or idea, that you will be expected to stick to the source material as much as possible. Star Wars is a prime example of this. Star Wars became a lot better, a lot more accurate on the timelines and a lot more consistent. I think it was a smart move getting rid of the old canon to begin a new one. Making way of a good and interesting series of events and explaining more of what the force is, how the millennium falcon did the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and having an entirely new trilogy when the director actually knows how humans work! The main horror (in my opinion) of Slenderman is the psychological horror. Personally I think they should've done something along the lines of the movie taking place before Slendy became popular so that then you can do something along the lines of "the more you think of me, the more likely I am to come to you" and then followed up with "once I've found you, I'll torment you in your thoughts and dreams while holding your soul hostage and there're only 2 ways you can get your soul back, commit a heinous act of violence or play a game with me'. The game would of course involve the 8 pages and go like "if you find the 8 pages before the time limit ends, your souls will be returned, if you fail your souls are mine" during which Slendy will turn up his mind games up to 11 and will use things such as illusions, mirages and false memories to mislead and waste the time of the participant(s) with his power increasing for every page the find until they either find the last page and receive their souls back and he leaves them forever (though mentally and emotionally scarred) or time runs out and he claims their souls.

Shadow Thief Slenderman is a virus as often shown in marble hornets. He's contagious if anyone who is affected by him associates with others. Those others will start to be affected as well. There is no set rules with Slenderman. He is a modern brothers Grimm fairytale where with each telling of a story he is slightly different.
