@@TheJessy8888 I did go watch the trailer after seeing it. It was awful. It basically gives away the whole movie. So does the poster for it. I can understand why it didn't do well. All the marketing were story spoilers.

I remember seeing a random trailer for this by sheer chance and it tickled my curiosity …. and I’m so glad I went to the cinema. Great film, excellent cast, clever writing, stylish and brilliantly executed. It’s well paced and it does not disappoint.

This film is, among other things, a treatise on ethics. And this synopsis gets that. Ben Kingsley, toward the end of it, says that he can tell if someone is lying. It's his survival instinct. And indeed these people aren't lying. Every word they say is the truth. Yet Kingsley is deceived.

Did you not watch the clip? Right after the dude leaves the Rabbi asks about when he can expect Morgan Freeman’s character (“our old friend”) in the ground to Willis’s character. And then he asked Willis’s character what he wants with the kid. The implication being that Willis wouldn’t do the hit on Freeman unless the Rabbi brought in the kid. It’s not over $38,000. It’s about killing his main rival. If you’re not going to watch the movie before acting smart then at least watch until the end of the clip you are commenting on.

I love Ben Kingsley but he can't do an American accent to save his life. He tries way too hard, which is bad enough, but then bits of British always slip through, like pronouncing "been" as "bean," which nobody from the NY area would ever pronounce that way. He ends up sounding like a British actor trying way too hard to sound like a 30s gangster.

5:44 the shotgun on the table pointed directly at his groin. It’s like a fire truck in the shot. Lights and sirens. I can’t see anything else. No one who handles firearms outside of Hollywood would allow this. No brilliant gangsters, who don’t trust each other, would allow this in a million years. “ you didn’t search me” but I’m a supposedly paranoid gangster who doesn’t even leave my fortress for fear of death but I have a gun under the table that will save me ..even though obviously it would take me a week to draw this shotgun if the main character stuck a gun in my face. Old gangster bosses don’t get into shootouts with street trash in their offices. That’s how they become old. And on and on. This is not how logical people or even just competent criminals act.
