Quintessential Commander is a Singapore based Magic the Gathering EDH Commander gameplay series where we just want to have fun playing MTG together, joking and laughing around. We aim to produce high-quality, entertaining and fast-paced gameplay videos that will make you LOL.
We're learning to play cEDH (competitive commander) from one of the best! It's Rebell and we've got a pod full of spicy cEDH deck builds. A transformers commander, a Grixis pair, a companion and ANIMAR???

Side note, Rebell should've drawn on the cast of the Vehicle version of Slicer as Living Metal doesn't make it a creature unless it's on the battlefield, it's still a non-creature spell on the stack!

Since lions eye diamond is a mana ability he could have declared the cast of slicers backside and cracked the lions eye diamond during the cast to avoid the command tax at 13:36

13:15 Can't he declare that he is casting slicer from hand, then pay for it using LED, thus not needing to pay commander tax? I think that's how it works since LED is a mana ability.

An specific rule on the transformer cards is that the more than meets the eye is affected by commander tax
