I also played a fair amount of slicer, and the one ring was like the bane of my existence because a full turn of free blocks is really annoying Edit: didn’t realize you were talking about the fact that it has indestructible when animated lol, but yes that’s also a thing that I’m glad I never ran into when playing slicer

Not spoiling the outcome of the game but I think this game is a textbook "how not to deal with slicer." You dont hold up the pridemage effect for whole game playing chicken with the table. If you just fire off your removal early and often slicer does nothing

What was Tyler's reasoning for not blowing up Slicer? We've seen a previous game on this channel how insanely quickly Slicer can kill everyone, and even if he didn't want to destroy Slicer immediately, he definitely should have when Chookiemon went to equip the Goldvein Pick.

New Dragon from WoE, Realm Scorcher Hellkite, seems like a viable Skarggan Replacement, comes with haste and a cheaper ping ability for the grindy games, still kills with infinite, and you can feed it a treasure to make it net cheaper with the bargain EtB if you end up hardcasting it from hand for whatever reason

That Assassin's Trophy should have been saved for the combat step, @Dylan. Also Tyler had priority first, so it was up to him to handle the Slicer. Fun game to watch, though. 👌🏻

For a while I was wondering whether or not the City of Traitors would've been blown up by the land from AssTrophy, but I made sure to look it up on Gatherer before posting an awful comment and making a fool out of myself. Wow! I was in solid disbelief about the Clown Car being relevant, but I see now how protecting the Karn made everything work out. Great stuff, y'all, always love to see new videos. Although I think y'all should've bullied Dylan into playing a deck that had *any* red pips in it instead of *none* :P

Tyler did you consider playing Animar turn 2 rather than Outland Liberator? Slicer might have gone elsewhere in that case. Animar had a chance to be bigger than Brotherhood's End as well when that came around.

Why not use Plaza of heroes protection effect with all those treasures up, in order to protect Slicer from Assassin's Trophy, when all other blockers just died? AND you are about to get turn again? I didn't get it.

My thinking was that if I used plaza then Tyler blows up slicer with Ulvenwald Tracker. I would be down a plaza in that scenario. I think allowing to Trophy to resolve I was able to just recast Slicer AND hold up Plaza for subsequent turns

2:25 i'd like a rules clarification on that, because Goldvein pick doesn't say "you" in it's text. The treasure token (i'm not a judge) i'm very sure goes to the player who controls the creature that dealt the combat damage. Shiny Impetus however, would give the owner of the card the treasure tokens. 2:52 AND until a rules clarification this game is now "just for fun." Tyler CONTROLS Slicer (and the equipped Goldvein Pick), Tyler gets the treasure token upon dealing combat damage. Again, i am not a judge, though i know how this works. i play Slicer. 109.5. The words “you” and “your” on an object refer to the object’s controller, its would-be controller (if a player is attempting to play, cast, or activate it), or its owner (if it has no controller). For a static ability, this is the current controller of the object it’s on. For an activated ability, this is the player who activated the ability. For a triggered ability, this is the controller of the object when the ability triggered, unless it’s a delayed triggered ability. To determine the controller of a delayed triggered ability, see rules 603.7d-f.

Goldvein gives you the treasures since you still control all the things equip on the slicer. Any effects that say "When creature does [x]" you still get since you still control the equipment, its only "creature gains [x]" that you give to opponents

I'm seriously looking to understand this and not just seemingly debating what may seem like a "mute point" but i'm still not sure if the "MTG Rules reference" is even the correct MTG rules to reference for this debate, what ever happened to "Owner of card" because by that logic i can equip Assault Suit and Sword of the Animist onto a creature, and pass it to each opponent as it has to attack and each time it does i as the OWNER of the equipment cards gain the benefits when Sword of the Animist makes no reference to me as the owner of the permanent. The "Controller" of a permanent is the player under control of the permanent for example; if i pass my Assault Suit and Sword of the Animist equipped goblin to you, YOU now "Control" all three of those permanents. And the only permanent that refers to me as the "OWNER" is the Assault Suit. Yeah Tyler messed this up pretty bad. If Slicer would've dealt with early the assassin's trophy would've destroyed it again making the commander tax a much more relevant thing to worry about as the slicer player. Great game but would've ended very differently.

When ChookieMon attacked Tyler for elimination, why not attack Cam bringing him to 18 commander, keeping Tyler alive to give Slicer, and then Tyler attacking and eliminating Cam so ChookieMon could attack and eliminate Tyler?

That might have been a better play. I guess I was thinking at the time it might be easier to deal with the mono red player than the blue based creature deck so I was more scared of Tyler at the moment, but perhaps that line might have been smarter to take
