I just bought 2 Charlin shotguns in France. A 12 and 16 gauge. Your video has more information on these guns than the rest of the Internet. Thank you.

@@CzechMyGunsis a placer ! I’m from chile and my grand father was de chile distributor in between 1976-1990 . I have his darne v19 cal 20 witch I use to hunt till date . Then I bought v19 12 G and then a R13 cal 12 . I’’m passion about darne as instarted hunting when I was 10 year old with a darne (now I’m 37). your video is great because I haven’t seen much information about Charlin so it was very helpful I am interested on having the images that you use for comparing both. It is possible that you send us the link where you get them. ?

Love the video. You’re maybe the second gun channel outside the USA I’ve watched. Refreshing to see some old school stuff instead of 40 reviews about the newest polymer frame pistol that looks about the same as the other 39. Keep up the good work!

Holly cow man! How come I just find this video now about my favorite shotguns??!! I must be more open sighted not to miss content like this! :) If you have some Verney-Carron Stopvis - single shot sliding breech shotgun from Saint Etienne too - I would be soo happy to see a summary video of it. :)
@Cuccos194 жыл бұрын
Okay, first I wrote it before I was watching, than now I watched it. I have to tell you that you made the most complete video of these guns of the whole KZbin, history and working included! Now I rather clear with big key - small key way of working. :) Actually I haven't seen any video about Charlin so maybe you made the first one. About Darne there are several videos but neither in English nor this detailed one. Big gratulation and thank you for this, instant subscribe! Cheers, Gábor from Hungary ;)
@CzechMyGuns4 жыл бұрын
Hey Gábor! Thanks a lot for your comment. You made my day! Unfortunately I don’t have that Verney-Carron Stopvis to make video about it. And yes I was surprised there are not many videos about these guns. It was also quite hard to find some info. Most people are focused on military guns, but there are so many more interesting firearms!

@@CzechMyGuns You should check out the www.naturabuy.fr/ site, but maybe you already familiar with it. It is a "very French" site, it's only in French language but not hard to find things if you now a thing or two about firearms. You can find Stopvis here, they are maybe the most simple and fantastic single shot shotguns ever made: www.naturabuy.fr/Fusils-Mono-canon-1-coup-chargeur-Verney-Carron-Stopvis-critere-14545555.html As the Czech Republic has more friendly firearm laws than Hungary you maybe can more easier to buy firearms from that site than we can.

Hi, i also have a Charlin with two rabbits on the reeds and one on the action, is it possible to establish the exact year of production?
@CzechMyGuns2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you can get the year from these markings. Look up the proofing marks and there might be mark of the year.

Nice presentation, thank you! As a new owner of a Darne mod.R11 I have a critical question: When (and only then) you take off the barrels, the extractor from the face of the barrels may come out by itself? It has that little thin hook pinned, which seems to let the extractor free if you push it in.I am asking because my extractor just felt down accidentally when taking the barrels off ! Thank you in advance!

Very cool. Been wanting to pick up a Darne for some time now and didn't know of this other company.

From what I understand, Charlin used a roller or bearing in their guns to make them super smooth.
@johanpire958 күн бұрын
Thanks for the video, I knew Darne, but I had never heard of Charlin. I think the visible difference between Darne and Charlin is that the stock of the Darne is two piece, look under the trigger of the Darne.

To avoid being seen by the ducks, the hunters shot while lying in the boat. That's why a rifle with the Darne system was ideal for this kind of hunting on the water. You didn't have to get to the side or kneel to reload the rifle.

Oh, I almost forget. I'm rather a "revolver guy", please if you could make a good video about your unfortunately not very known revolver (I mean outside of Czech Republic and Slovakia), the CZ ZKR 590 Grand. That is a fantastic and really great quality revolver. It looks like a Colt from the 20s or 30s but it's made in Czechoslovakia in the 60s and 70s. It is also quite well known among shooters in Hungary (they are dirt cheap "thanks" for the "great Hungarian gunlaws").
@CzechMyGuns4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that should be no problem, but "video list" of guns is pretty long so it will take some time. ;-) But sure one day it will be here.

It is not very easy to get information about old French shotguns (unfortunatelly I cannot speak French) but here is a site, down below I put the link. About half way scroll down and you will find what proof markings and pressure limits were in use those days in France. These French sliding breech shotguns were extremely tough ones by that time (900+ kg/cm2 pressure tested from the begining). The Verney Carron Stopvis (which is my all time favorite shotgun) even was tested for 1500kg/cm2 in 1928. That tells a lot about the strength of these guns. If I'm correct usual Soviet era built Russian shotguns (Tula Arms Plant TOZ series, Izhevsk Mechanical Plant IZH series) were about 650-900 kg/cm2 pressure tested and they known for their solid built. Just to have something to compare. I rather know them because they were/are very popular here in Hungary. I think the bigger problem is to find affordable 65mm (2 and 1/2 inch) long cartridges as 70mm (2 and 3/4 inch) long ones are the basic ones these days. For example the 16/65 is very expensive and have very low variety to choose from here in Hungary. A 16/65 cartridge can cost two to four times more than a 12/70 for example, and that is a horrible cost if you want to shoot regulary. You may better to reload your cartridges (you can get full brass cases as well just have to trim them down for the proper chamber length). www.littlegun.info/arme%20francaise/artisans%20c%20d/a%20darne%20gb.htm

Charlin was a lot smoother than the Darne with the bearing. Darne extraction sucks and they are way harder to takedown than a beretta or browning over and under.
