Glad I found this video. I am a big fan of his songs. It’s a shame I haven’t had enough time to visit Slim Dusty’s museum during my visit to Sydney a couple of weeks ago. However, I will definitely be back and will spend a day or two in Kempsey. Thanks for sharing this video. True legend.

My family and I lived in the Alice for a couple of years in the 70s. At first it was a real culture shock. Slim's music helped me to understand and deepened my love for Australia. I still have an play his music for others in the US as he truly is/was Fair Dinkum. Thank you for posting this video.

When I was younger, I went out traveling with my uncle, who was a bush truck driver. We'd go out to all these remote cattle stations and towns to deliver supplies. So one day we were driving down this random dirt road in the middle of nowhere, and we see a dust cloud coming up behind us. I glanced in the mirror and it was a shitty looking purple sedan that had no business being this far out in the middle of nowhere. I actually had to do a double take because I recognised it. It was the tour car of the famous Australian country singer, Slim Dusty, the man who basically represented everything that Australia is. He tossed us a wave as he passed us. I'll treasure that memory.

I cant stand country music, but this bloke did more for this country than anyone else has... By his songs, the lyrics, and his singing, and by just being himself. I will always admire and respect this man and what he achieved.Couldn't this country really do with a few Slim Dusty's these days.

First herd of Slim when as a teenager, had chance going to Australia with Neighbor Youths, but couldn't afford, so 1 brought back an Album of his called "Aussie Sing Song". After hearing it, esp the Pub With No Beer", became a huge fan. Sadly We are losing All the best Artists that paved the way in Country Music, not just in Australia, but US as well.

My dad lived in Australia for about 5 years before I was born, and had 1 of Slim's LPs. I heard it when I was probably about 5 & Slim's music stuck with me ever since. Sadly, I heard about Slim's passing in September '03, less than 2 months before I visited Australia. But Slim's memory lives on through his recordings.

Gee time goes quickly, it is hard to believe that it is 12-1/2 years since Slim's passing. What an entertainer he was and a huge ambassador for Australia, there will never be another like him. I will never forget the time period of his death. It was Friday Sept 12 2003 when my number one of all time Johnny Cash passed away and I was telling people that it left me just one music hero, that being Slim. I was totally crushed when it was just the following Friday that Slim passed away as well. It was about a year before II played any music whatsoever. For me you could say that was the day that music died. The deaths of my two musical giants was just more than I could bare. I slowly got back into the music that had given me so much pleasure and so many happy memories. I believe life to be so dreary without music in it and each to their own music genre, but I love Country. John and Slim are both gone but they will always be in my heart and of course we can still listen to them any time at will. John and Slim R.I.P.
