There are rank among demons, but that just indicates how powerful they are. There’s another system to classify them depending on how old they are, and the oldest ones are the ones called “Primordials”. These primordials are few and are referred by their signature color, but those do not count as name, therefore they’re still nameless monsters yet, although they’re already really strong even without a physical body. “This being truly is...” plus the line from episode 23 “you will bring me to the truth of this world” plus his obsession with his mask, which you’ve made a guess about its origin, you can already tell there is a lot going on (and no, this ain’t spoilers, I’m just combining scenes that were played and the guesses he made in the last episodes). When Kuro (that’s how you pronounce Black in Japanese) eventually makes his debut in the future, most people believe he’s already been named “Diablo” because of this episode, which is not true. When he shows up again, he’s still nameless. And again, you should check out the OVAs 3-5, which are about Rimuru’s students and some tests. Another huge character also appears in these episodes, and he doesn’t get to shine much in the anime, so you should give it a try.

Yeah, there's 7 primordial demons and they remain unnamed because barely anyone is capable of summoning a primordial demon and even when they are capable of doing it, they aren't powerful enough to actually name them. If Rimuru had tried to name him before evolving into a demon lord, he would have failed naming Black and after his evolution got almost all his magicule reserve drained doing so. And if I'm not mistaken, Black is also the last of the 7 primordial demons to receive a name. And the others were already weary about his lineage while all of them were already boosted in power by having a name.

15:00 The Silver Wings knew they couldn't take on Orthos, so they summoned Noir to do it for them. --literally paying with their lives for Noir to kill the target, but not specifying that nobody else was to be harmed. 16:20 Shizu gets to live so long as she agrees to tell Noir's lie that she killed him, so he can move about undetected. 17:40 The Progenitor demons have never been given names, because nobody would give them even more power, so they gave themselves callsigns based on their color. Orthos was an Archdemon, but he's still nothing compared to a Progenitor. 20:17 Narration teases you with just enough info to not explain anything. Why would Rimuru give a summon the Black Progenitor, let alone give him an upgrade beyond the level he's already at? 20:25 It tells you what name he's going to give, but in the manga this wasn't revealed until later, so purists get uptight about it. Diablo is just Spanish for Devil, which makes sense considering the goblins got names like Gob A, Gob B, Gob C...

The anime was not sure it was going to get a second season, so they added that scene to drum up hype. I personally feel that scene does a disservice to the anime as a whole. If I had not already read ahead in the light novels after watching the first episode, I would have been quite annoyed at that last episode.

this group of primal Demons are.... really a class of their own. Their existence alone, even if they are in their own Realm, is already a Problem. Outside of their Realm.....well..... As the episode suggest, we will meet atleast one of the primal colors in the future. Its hard to miss their rather unique appearance. I still rewatch the Scene in the city, after this one is summoned. Goosebumps!

I loved that we got some more story on Shizu since her time on screen was so short, we did get a good glimpse at someone very important whom shizu fought. It only gets more epic from here!! Season 2 is even more exciting than this season was!!! Can’t wait for you to get into it!

It's a spoiler because it's telling you he's going to summon and name Diablo. If someone added a note at the end of Prisoner of Azkaban saying that, in three years, Snape would kill Dumbledore to solidify his cover as a double agent against Voldemort, it would be a fuckin' spoiler. Now he already knows what will happen in season 2. It's a spoiler. Hinata being at the tree is not a spoiler, because it does not explain what Hinata will do as a result of being at the tree. That's beyond ridiculous. That's like saying that because the anime established Leon summoned Shizu, it's a spoiler that Rimuru is going to kill Leon. There's a difference between making inferences due to hints given, and straight up being told what will happen.

It was meant to set up that when the event takes place we don't jump to conclusions and not be overly concerned because we already know part of the outcome. That was the intent. It's by design. So by telling him to avoid it, you have gone against the intent of the director, the writers, of the anime were hoping for if they got a 2nd season. And yes, they did use this also as a tease for season 2. I won't pretend this wasn't a marketing ploy for a 2nd season... and it worked.

That said, it may have actually been the final nail that clinched the second season airing. The rushing of the kids arc put the second season in question though not quite in jeopardy. The foreshadowing and OVA episodes helped move things forward.

There are more than four primordial demons. There are 7. They are all at the top of the food chain Demon wise, and they are on the level of the top beings period aside from true dragons. (In general at least) and there are levels to the primordials as well.

This episode is a filler but it isn't non-canon. It the story of how black come to know about rimuru which was in LN( actual sources for anime and manga ) In LN it was just mention that kuro did meet shizue in past and meet rimuru by keeping eye on her but we didn't know why or how exactly it happen. We got see how it happens in this episode. This episode fill that gap to complete that part of series. It is canon.

SPOILER FREE version of HOW IT IS A SPOILER... it is because of administrative reasons, not plot-related (the explanation)... YES in very very few instances the anime can spoil itself... not saying whether you should or shouldn't avoid it... just explaining the reasoning... This like many other shows is based of a series of books... i think this season adapted 5 of those books (there are over 18 i think for this series) When a season of the anime comes out... they do not know if it will get a second season... at least not during the production process. The production process ends way before the anime actually airs on tv... So if there is no 2nd season on sight they SOMETIMES (as in this case) pack up a couple of SPOILERS from books further ahead just to create hype and make people go and buy the books... a huge publicity stunt... When the anime ended they already knew the second season had been green lit but the plans and animation were already in progress for how the episodes would be done... so they didn't change the plans and still gave the spoilers... In the case of this particular show... they didn't only spoil content of multiple books ahed... but they also skipped content that chronologically should have happened here but was too slow to be the end of a season... and the next season became something that happened BEFORE this one... so they messed up the time line a bit... People thinking if the anime said it it is not a spoiler are wrong... people thinking that something is a spoiler because the anime decided to show it are ALSO wrong... it all depends on how the situation is handled... stuff like the start of Shippuden have a plot related reason that will soon be addressed within the same project... that is a writing technique done by the screen writers of the anime... that is not a spoiler... What happened in Slime was a failure to look ahead to the reception of the show and a shot at free publicity (which is valid) that slightly detracts from the enjoyment of a fair share of people who watch the show for economic reasons rather than helping the plot... by skipping just a few seconds it is fixable... so it is a spoiler... Also as an extra... the openings in the anime can also spoil the show...

I love Diablo, Shion and Ranga. They work together (Diablo and Shion are secretaries and Shion and Ranga fight side by side a lot) and are all members of the head pat crew. Ranga gets head pats, Diablo wants head pats and Shion gives head pats to Rimuru with her oppai when he's in Slime form. Plus they think Rimuru is flawless (Zegion falls into that camp too) and pretty much worship him.
