You sound like you need a good night's sleep. The plane looks amazing. I am very impressed that you were able to do most of the work yourself. But not surprised...

I got so focused on the elevator issue that I forgot to comment on how fantastic the plane looks! The efforts to detail are really paying off!

Been following your build for a few months now. Really happy it’s coming along and you’re getting close to bringing her to life! Hope you have better luck with registration and the DAR than Mike had.

The plane is looking great, really like the design and color scheme. I am sure you have contacted TAF or even other builders regarding the elevator issue, any thoughts from that front? Can't tell from the video (and I am no engineer nor have I built an aircraft, yet) but is it the skin on the horizontal stab that is warped or are the elevators off alignment (which would be odd for both, I assume) Again, I am sure you have thought of all this. Thank you for sharing and congrats on everything, I remember watching when you started this...really one of the best build vlogs out there. Looking forward to more on this and the other upcoming build...

Thanks man. It’s definitely not an alignment issue, it’s 100% perfectly straight and the gap is perfect on the bottom. Very tight but not touching, so it’s not like the whole thing is shifted up. It’s possible the skins out on the ends there got bent down during shipping or something, or its possible the rear spar channel of the horizontal stabilizer was bent just slightly too far from the factory. There’s really no way to know until It gets put together. I think it’ll be an easy fix though

Put the wingbolts in the freezer for 24 hours. Seemed to help us putting on the wings of our TSi

Too late! I was planning to do that, but no freezer available at the hangar

Congrat on finding a customer for the assist on the 2nd TSi. Will you be posting here about the project? (I know you said that you were working a deal with Sling for them to use video of that project.)
@EvanBrunye4 жыл бұрын
I might post some video updates here for that project overall, but the videos for sling will be published on their KZbin channel. My real next set of videos for this channel will be the kitfox build

Evin for your final video I think this was good but not great. On behalf of everyone here we are all confused but have a lot of information to build our own planes. May you in your plane fly as high as our admiration for your abilities and scenarios. When you finally get up to the big sky don't forget that you put a lot of work into getting yourself up to the sky.

I'm curious. Is the elevator binding issue common on the other Slings that TAF has flying?

Not sure I haven’t asked them yet

Have seen a similar (yet minor) problem on the flaps, on two seperate builds. One was fixed (before painting) with a tiny trim on the underside of the wing skin using a Fresnel, this worked but not as elegant as the second one which just needed the Gap to be sprung (rushed or stretched) open. The second one (gap opened) was done by removing the flap and then fixing a long section of angle to both the top and bottom surfaces (with a layer of thin padding felt between the angle and the painted skin). To this a tell-tale deflection tab (of thin stiff material (plastic or aluminium) was inserted to carefuly mannage and measure the very minor defelction that is required and the a very gentle long lever to attached to the angles. The slight gap tweaking was quick and gentle with the end result unnoticeable.
@EvanBrunye4 жыл бұрын
@@richardseton7014 this is basically the approach I plan to take. I test fit my flaps and ailerons before paint and already corrected the issue with the flaps. I hadn’t seen anyone run into this with the elevator so I didn’t consider test fitting it!
