Man Evan you are kicking it. Move 1: Got out of Cali. Move 2: Started a beautiful family. Move 3: Your own Sling assembly plant. You know I’m waiting next for the shop dog. Take care and Happy Holidays.

Hey Evan, looking great! One comment about the spinners, if you want them black, you can order them from Airmaster in a matte finish for painting. The sales/support rep I spoke with recommended this option to avoid having to sand away additional material from the spinner in preparation for paint / powder coat.

Looking to go to Torrance in December to test fly the low wing TSI. Was considering going the quick build route how would that compare with what you are offering
@825novembertango2 жыл бұрын
Evan... My wife and I put a down payment for a Sling Highwing. I love the control on the stick you had in the video compared to a ton of other ones that I've seen come standard with the TSI. What's the name/type of that one? I really like the left hand and right hand version for the pilot and co-pilot.

Tosten military style grip. It even has a missile launcher button for coms 😎

Evan, relatively new(about a year) student pilot here. Been digging the slings for quite a while, and I really enjoy the work and build you do. Curious to know how I can reach out to you to discuss the process of a build and potentially what it would take to get on your list?

Nice looking birds. I've been taking a harder look at the Slings. I have to admit, the whole "experimental" thing is slightly off putting. Having said that, renting really sucks and so as I begin softly search for my own plane, the Sling is definitely interesting. Peace.
@EvanBrunye2 жыл бұрын
Experimental is probably not the right word for these planes, even though I guess that’s their technical category. Kitplane might be a more accurate title for them, as they’re not at all experiments. In fact, take a look at the safety record of them, and kit planes as a whole for that matter, it’s very good.
@pilotavery Жыл бұрын
Uncertified aircraft are always automatically assigned an experimental title. In many cases, some experimental types have more flying than some certified. The RV 12 IS was experimental for a while until they decided to spend the money to certify it and now you can buy it directly from the factory pre-made. It cost a lot more though.
@pilotavery Жыл бұрын
Technically because it's a kid playing, experimental Is the title that's given to it, you can just write in whatever gross weight you want and you are allowed to exceed the gross weight as long as you and anyone in your plane are told that this is a test flight and we are taking off above Max certified weight

I've been wondering... haven't seen either of these planes in a couple months. That yeller is Purdy. Any plans for an RV 10?
@EvanBrunye2 жыл бұрын
No plans for a -10, I chose the tsi over the 10 originally for the same reasons I still do. I’m a huge fan of the vans line of planes they’re phenomenal, but not the right aircraft for me personally!

The master button is a surprising sight! I assume those are all mechanically-latching. Are you concerned about not knowing the status of those switches in the event of a lighting failure? Have you considered incoporating an automatic control system for the vents/heat (like in modern cars)? Since you're already controlling via servos you could easily add a temperature sensor and just set desired temperature. Is it possible to replace the GNC355 with a GTN650 without cramping this layout too much?
@EvanBrunye2 жыл бұрын
Yes they’re mechanically latching, and the instruments will let you know the status of the switches. So everything works out nicely there! I suppose you could create a thermostatically controlled system, but it would require more automation than it might seem at first glance. Even though these planes are very technologically advanced compared to most ga aircraft that were all familiar with, they still require load management as well as engine management that for now is pilot responsibility. For example, in cold temperatures at low power settings, say a descent from high altitude, it’s likely the heater running full force is actually counter productive as it soaks all the heat from the coolant quickly. But a pilot can understand this condition, and turn down the heater fan to soak the heat out more slowly, even though the temperature might be slightly lower than the set point. Yes, the panel layout will accommodate a 650 instead of the 375
