I always thought slinging my AR was such a simple process, go to bass pro and grab one, done. Now that I'm actually ready to sling it I'm realizing how different it can be from a traditional hunting rifle. 1point,2point,3point? Quick detach? A lot more to it then I thought. I appreciate you taking the time to explain to uninformed needy individuals like myself.

I've really never had a problem patrolling with a single point. I put it to the side & rest my arm on the stock to keep the rifle from bouncing around. Though this is why I like AK rifles. I can have a 2 point attached to it & tucked away. Allowing me to use my one point. If I need to climb I detach the one point, fold my stock & throw over my shoulder with the two point.

I see a lot of comments about deciding to choose a single point. I think a good summary of what he just said is... If ur operating in a confined patrol area like a camp or ur House/yard, a 1 point is a good option as u can drop and grab ur weapon readily as u need. But if ur humping some distance, trust me, change ur 1-2 point to the 2 point and enjoy your walk.

I had considered a 1 point sling, but at 19 and only recently having an AR to bother with this over, I've had no experience with carrying a rifle on a sling. I got into guns as a deer hunter at the age of 8 and I've always carried a rifle simply with my hands. This video has changed my mind and I very much appreciate your input on the subject.

I like a single point for defensive use. & a two point for hunting. My Remington 700 barrel bangs on the ground & hits bushes while walking with a single point. Great video reid.! Thanks

As an Infantryman I have tried bungee single point (not durable), regular single point, regular two point, and adjustable two point. As I've noticed with most others I work with the two point adjustable sling is what we gravitate towards. Very versatile, will do everything you need. Quick detach options such as two point to one point, etc.. are nice but just another place for the equipment to break or malfunction. And equipment will malfunction at the worst of times.

Good stuff. You should inform others of the benefits of 3 point slings as well. One of my favorite things about a 3 point is it can act identically as a 2 point. Great video Reid, When I was in the Foreign Legion we used a two point sling, but you could tap the riffle fore grip and it would detach and turn into a single point. It's something you need to see really, not easy to explain how exactly it looked. It could easily be reattached to change back into a two point. It's just unfortunate that the sling was attached to a Famas lol.

Might be strange but.. I use that stock AK 2-point sling as a 1-point. Works pretty well and if I need to you can easily loop one end through the buckle as designed and switch it to a 2-point configuration.

Back before they issued or sold the 3 point sling or quick detach stuff, everyone on my unit took 550 and a d-ring (attach d ring to a plate carriers highest hole or shoulder loop) and made our own one points in country. I still do this with all my weapons. Less weight, holds it in your shoulder instead of near your pectorals, and if you need to go weak-side unclip and nothing dangles down. As far as holding the weapon during a patrol, get used to it... if you want to operate it, you gotta carry it. A few months of conditioning will get you in appropriate shape to hold your weapon at the ready for the entire 12 hour patrol, great video

Yes, the single point can get in the way when you let it hang, but it does that for a reason. It allows quicker and easier access to a sidearm that's on your hip.

I've carried my rifle in a single point sling in three different ways: front like you showed, put to the side so it's on my hip, or when it's on my back hanging down like it did in the front but reverse. It's definitely possible to sling it in different ways. But you can't really go wrong with having both in your kit for different situations! I liked your perspective for a two point though, I definitely see the benefits and downsides for both.

As many have said, a convertible sling is the best of both worlds. With the single point, a weapons catch solves the problem of the rifle hanging in front. You can put the rifle in the catch to secure it, to go hands on, climb, etc.

Army Infantry here. 2 deployments for a total of 25 months in Afghanistan from 2007-2010. Everyone in my units who liked 1 point slings in garrison, changed their mind and used 2 point quick adjustable slings while deployed. Great video.

GBRS sling with single point tri glide adapter is amazing. I am also modifying mine and adding a loop so it can be used as the wwII- Vietnam loop sling for accuracy shooting.
