My calculations say this slingshot is 110,850 joules, the energy is about the same as a cannon and the kinetic energy of Joerg's truck at 34 km/h (he stated the weight of it in another video). Very powerful. EDIT: sorry made a miscalculation don't what it was but this cannon is actually around 6,000 joules EDIT 2: 5,883 joules EDIT 3: So more power than a .300 win mag cartridge
@Smithy00139 жыл бұрын
***** How'd you get that number?
@hey73289 жыл бұрын
Smithy0013 Look in the description, 200 kg force on 80 mm steel ball accelerating for 10 metres is how I got the velocity, and the weight of the ball is easily calculated using the density of steel
@Hack3r919 жыл бұрын
***** I think there is something out of place though. Perhaps I am not using the data correctly but here's what I get. If 200 Kg (2000 N) of force is the AVERAGE force acting on the ball, then the energy delivered amounts to F·ds = 2000 N * 3 m = 6000 J, no matter what the projectile is. Now for the velocity. As you said, you can find the mass using the radius of the ball and the density of steel. The density of steel is something between 7.75 to 8.05 g/cm3 according to Teh Googlez, I shall average it to 7.9 for the calculations. The ball has a 4cm radius, the mass turns out to be about 2.1 kg. The starting velocity is then given by √(2E/m) which is about 74m/s or 268km/h (holy flying monkey shit). This sounds like a bit of an overshoot to me, to be honest.
@Hack3r919 жыл бұрын
***** If however we take the MAXIMUM force to be 200 kg (2000 N), and suppose that Hooke's law applies, we have exactly half the energy calculated before: 3000 J This still translates to a fairly fast 53 m/s = 192 km/h of starting speed for the 80mm ball.

@reconnaisancesapper10 жыл бұрын
I was not surprised that the steel balls didn't knock holes into the car. The balls may have been heavy but due to the lack of velocity, there was not enough kinetic energy to achieve this. Mind you, if that had hit a person, the person wouldn't be alive to tell the story of how painful it was. The result may not have been a hole but would have wreaked havoc on say, the chest area.

You know that vid where the girl tries to slingshot a melon that ends up in her face? I was hoping that wouldn't happen with your canon.

Germans . . . .
@chrisross6810 жыл бұрын
germans are awesome. no one else could have lasted as long as they did against the whole world... and in such style too. their uniforms, weapons, aircraft, tanks... just beautiful. as a race they are physically attractive, intelligent and have a badass sounding language. they could have won... not should have, could have. and would have too if not for the sheer will of, well, everyone else.

Chris Ross Your comment will attract stupid hitler debates..but i totally agree..took half the world to stop a country the size of texas..and post war it just took a few years to rebuild

Chris Ross I am not sure about Germans being attractive there mate. Their women look like men and their men look like women.

The local Police was on annual leave, so the boys could get away with their destructive behaviour ? Who cleaned up after the damaged car ? Glass splinters everywhere ! The council should force you to do it by ✋ hand, so as to pick all the rubbish out of the grass ! Not a good example, it's environmental hooliganism, right ?
