I have made a six shooter that shoots simultaneously, pretty nice. But this one has the advantage that you can also fire bursts. The bolts leave the barrel at about one thirty to two o'clock, really - when I turn as fast as possible. This means about one turn in half a second. So they leave one twelfth of a second after the trigger has been depressed, not so bad. There is a small, but consistent deviation which would also occur if fired at12 o'clock.

Let me elaborate. Imagine you are a thief, sneaking onto his property completely unaware of who lives there. Every wooden object that you pass is full of holes of all sizes. You finally get into the house and begin to move away from the door as a loud booby trap is set off, locking all the doors and metal bars come down over the windows. Somewhere in the deep reaches of the house, you hear that laugh...slowly growing louder. "I've been waiting for you...HaHaHAHAHAAAAaaaa......

@Slingshotchannel11 жыл бұрын
Just over one minute reloading time per barrel isn't very bad for a muscle operated piece of artillery. A team of two, properly practiced, can probably do that in 30 seconds. A conventional slingshot would be my preference in open combat, but for defending the castle, this would certainly be very useful. Plus, it will look great in the movie.

I actually have started to vulcanize my own rubber, from latex milk. It works, but I need to optimize the process in order to get top notch quality rubber. If that part has been completed, I may try dandelions - seems like I have a whole winter ahead of me for such experiments before dandelions grow again.

That is the core element of the movie's story. The rubber has deteriorated and their ranged weapons are getting useless. So the survivors must make their own rubber, from dandelions (it really works, google it!) and some chemicals such as sulfur. They must go and find these chemicals, in long abandoned ghost cities now inhabited by the Dead. Will they master the challenge and live, or will they fail and die?

I don't know if you already did something like this, but if not, then I have a friendly challenge for you Jorg. Make a "Re-loading Zombie Killer" that re-pulls the bands back and loads a bolt to be shot on the next pass. Just a thought, but you could make a set of "magazines" filled with bolts to be fired as well if you want, so you don't have to wait to reload the loading mechanism if there is a huge Zombie surge attack. I love your shows by the way. I just found your channel and should I get access to any decent tools, I want to start making slingshots!!! Keep up the great work!!!
@Therealgigabyte11 жыл бұрын
Very nice! Although for more consistent accuracy, not that it looks like it needs much more, would it be possible to have the lever that triggers the cams/triggers, slightly earlier so by the time the bolts are released they are directly inline with the upper most postion? I noticed in the slow motion playback that all the bolts were leaving the barrel about 20-30deg from the straight up position. By advancing the cam position you make the top rail into a nice aiming line. Still, Great work!

Second garage... As a man living in a first floor flat (read: second floor apartment, UK here) without so much as a garden to paint in - I envy you so much... Great video as always - Did you consider moving the trigger mechanism anticlockwise into the direction of rotation so that you get a discharge when the firing barrel is at its highest point, just for more intuitive aiming point and also aesthetics being that it's a movie prop :) Also, loved the cats. But I guess this is the internet!

Jorg- I think it would be super cool to add a large weight so that you can crank it up to speed and stay there (more or less). Then have an actual trigger to make it fire. Since you only have 5 shots, best to not be cranking while aiming.
@MisdirectedSasha11 жыл бұрын
Perhaps if you could connect the bands to a set of bicycle gears and pedals in order to draw them? You've mentioned the pedals before. If you can find a big enough sprocket then maybe you could generate enough force to continuously draw the bands.
