@@oktc68 Initially when he showed the 3 slingshots I couldn't comprehend the advantage of the design of the H. I even wondered if perhaps it was over engineered. He explained it perfectly though. Now I'm only curious about accuracy & effective range.

My strongest slingshot ever (the "H" achieved 72 Meters per second with 30 Gramm bullets. That is 78 Joules, almost as much as a .22 bullet from a pistol. But you need heavy bullets, the speed of rubber is limited. More than 80 Meters per second is noz possible, even with very light bullets.
@Slingshotchannel14 жыл бұрын
I use Thera Band, you can find it on ebay. Gold, Black and Blue work best. You need a rollcutter and a steel ruler to cut the bands from the Thera Band, it is very wide when you buy it (14 cm).
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
Yes. The H is very powerful due to the flat bands, which are faster than tubes. But the tubes last longer and are powerful enough, the difference is not huge.

Well, the "H" requires welding equipment and skills. So it is not easy for an average person! It is my most powerful slingshot, more than 70 Joules of energy. That is much more than a BB gun does (air guns do 4 to 30 Joules, at the most).

I've made a few OP slings in my day. I have to say, that H model sling is the way to go. With a few minor changes it could be Next-level-GOOD. I have an idea to make this and incorporate the action of a compound bow. I made a few variations in the past, but never thought to do it like this. This puts a whole new dimension on slings and their limits. I love your innovative weapon builds. I only tinker with slings tho
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
I welded the H from steel rods, from scratch. The metal balls are iron, not steel, and have been bought on ebay, for about 2 Euros a piece. They already come threaded, built to your order. Earlier, I used ball bearings, those are cheap, but you can't drill through them and welding is difficult.
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
The tapering greatly enhances the power, because there is less weight at the end of the bands (the pouch side). For the other issues, why don't you register at the slingshotforum? I am a moderator there.
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
Certainly. If a band breaks at the fork, then the rubber hits you like a whipm on steroids, right in your face. An eye is a vulnerable body part that I, for one, don't want to loose.
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
If you aren't as strong as I am, then you would have to use weaker bands. Still, the power would be remarkable, you'd be surprised. My slingshots don't have a huge draw force, about 50 lbs is maximum. Most people can pull 50 lbs easily, bows often have 70 lbs or more. But you need a powerful grip, as you pull the pouch with just the thumb and index finger.
@thomascorbett66276 жыл бұрын
U R Right AGAIN!!
@Slingshotchannel15 жыл бұрын
Stu, flat bands are faster and therefore more powerful than tubes. I think they have less inner friction than tubes, that's why. But they are harder to make and also they break earlier than tubes. No such thing as the perfect solution!

The "V" uses tubular rubber. It lasts longer, but is slower. Even the "H" can not really achieve much more than 300 fps, but that is no problem because you just use heavy bullets. Those have lots of energy even at a "slow" speed. My heaviest bullets are .91" lead balls.

@Joerg Have you contemplated using off center cams with heavy springs to make a conceptual compound action slingshot? I think the outcome would be interesting, as I wonder if it would hyper-accelerate over a short period of time the contrasction of the rubber tubing. Concept: Bands going over roller bearings down the handle connecting to off center cam on bearings. spring from each cam to handle. Should work like a compound bow in principle. Just a thought.

Hello Jörg! I've been watching some of your older videos and just stumbled over this Gem! With this H configuration do you estimate this to be so effective that extending the H in length even further for example by 10 or 20 cm might add power?
@duncanlanceoliver1944 жыл бұрын
doing so would increase the inaccuracy and the strength required to compensate the upper and lower flex which would require the addition of a waist mount which doing so would in my mind make the act akin to basically the creation of turn your attempt of making a slingshot in a crossbow their is a honestly recommended limit of total size for a slingshot to 18 inch height and weight of 5 inch and depth of from 2 inch to a max of 4 inch once to go pass those guides your no longer making a slingshot your instead creating a crossbow or even a catapult
@d777j777l77714 жыл бұрын
Excellent. I'd like to see the effect on corrugated iron. My home made slingshot penetrates this. I'm sure there would too - especially with the sophisticated design.
@VertigaDesignMEDIA14 жыл бұрын
You have some very interesting exploration on draw length and band distribution. personally i think the 'T' design will yeild more accuracy. the ball slingshot was also very interesting in that is distributes the power to where it is needed most. the 'H' is definitely a standout model, since it allows a longer draw distance. the grip for the 'H' seems to stem from the base of the hand. perhaps you may look at a 'U' slingshot where the draw distance extends below the arm from the elbow.
@mudbob113 жыл бұрын
Very nice, looks like fun. On the H design, what do you think about extending the anchor point to the back, nearer the top? Then you could add another roller on the bottom and get even more draw length from essentially the same design. Or do you think that would create too much friction?
