This has to be one of the craziest things you've come up with. This is the perfect example of how modular Bitwig can go. Love it :)

LEGOs for music. It's LEGOs for music. Following along, I was surprised that I could type in notes for the EQ bands. But then mine aren't showing the same frequencies as yours. It gave me 80Hz for D#0, 160Hz for D#1m etc... (I figured it out, will leave the original comment in case someone else has trouble. You have to make sure to also remove 'Hz' or it won't pick up the well, Hz of the entered note lol) this is f'ing brilliant though. Ambient producers *hate him* use this one weird trick to modulate the F out of everything.

tried this out yesterday and the only downside is the CPU hit. If you wanted to use this on multiple channels, you’d be using 16 voices every time an instance is made which really punishes the CPU. Also worth noting that the output signal gets multiplied by however many voices you’re using, so you’ll need to attenuate the gain down quite a bit to level match
@PolarityMusic10 ай бұрын
yea its very heavy on the cpu. i think you can use a "voice tog" on the output of the grid, and then just select voice one to remove the doubling of the voices. i hope they optimize this voice stacking a bit more and increase the number 😅

The movement of the bells reminds me of the max4live slink filter somehow - maybe recreatable with this technique?

i iwsh this was how max for live was, this workflow matches my wavelength a bit more as a producer.

yes and i hear max can be quite instable at times.

It's also worth noting that multiple LFOs aren't tied to each other, so if you wanted to use 3 classic LFOs in random mode on an FX Grid set to 8 stacked voices, you will get 24 independent random LFOs. This certainly makes creating mass randomisation significantly easier to set up and contain. Great tip.

Nice Idea! However I think it would have been better to make the EQ +/- dB adjustable with a macro, +- 30 dB is imo just excessive. Maybe I worked too much with analog stuff in the past but it is triggering me when I see a limiter applying -30 dB

yea sure, its just for the video to show the technique :)

if bitplug just could simplifhy the interface and make it more minimal on the eyes, and a bit more smooth. and scale feature with midi editor devices in roll like 11.0 . that would be neat. i would love to piece togethere things this way. personally i want the program to have more features towards modulating things relative to key.

@@williamshaneblyth ITS IN THE UI, IN MY OPINION IT TAKES UP MORE SPACE THAN IT NEEDS TO, ITS ALLOT OF BORDERS AROUND THE UI ON FX. GOT AN OLD MAC TOO, ABLETON RUNS FASTER ON IT EVEN THE NEWEST VERSION. BITWIG TO ME IS LIKE ABLETON, BUT FATTER UI. THE ONLY THING IS THAT BITWIG HAS THE GRID. AND STOCK MODULATORS INTGRATED INTO EVERY DEVICE. PROBABLY DOESNT USE AS MUCH CPU AS LFO IN ABLETON DO.. BUT IT ABLETON WE LITTERALLY GOT MAX FOR LIVE...

I think Bitwig is getting to point where it’s way too gimmicky and just way over the top. Half the shit you don’t need. So what if you modulate the modulated and then modulate again..lol i don’t see it all that practical in making a track, you just waste time in making the beat.
@PolarityMusic10 ай бұрын
It depends on your style, and I'm only showing possibilities here. You don't need to do that, but you can. If all you want is a simple beat and a chord progression, then you don't even need to touch the modulation matrix. It's all dependent on the context.
