Good day. It came from P/2 and N/60 P/2 is pair of poles. N is speed which is revolutions per min. But since frequency is in terms of cycles per seconds therefore N is divided by 60 to convert per minute into per seconds that's N/60 Combining the two (P/2)(N/60) = PN/120
