I’m from the U.K. and I own a 2018 Compass. I have a lot of land so I needed a vehicle that I could take off road and rely on, and as I have had Jeeps in the past I chose the Compass over the competitors. And I am really impressed by how good this car is off road! My old car was a Suzuki vitara all grip 4x4 and it was constantly getting stuck. The Jeep however makes it look easy! So glad I bought it and I can’t wait to drive it in the snow this winter.

Ninooooo That's interesting. In roller tests both cars get great and very similar results. Did you use the same tires? Can you share some experience concernig usage of All Grip? By the way - here is full test of Compass - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmnagYeGbs9lr5I
@ninooooo21286 жыл бұрын
duszaniespokojna both cars were just using stock tires. The thing the Suzuki struggled with the most was wet grass which the jeep seems to be able to handle a lot better. The all grip was pretty impressive though and I did get chance to drive it in the snow and it did well. What may be helping the jeep is the engine. My jeep has a 2.0 diesel whilst the Suzuki had a 1.4 Petrol.

@@ninooooo2128 Stock tires doesn't mean they behave the same on both cars, so it is hard to make a conclusion about awd systems. I don't think that Suzuki with such an offroad history couldn't make a system which is not able to win with wet grass ;)

Both cars worked well in the best settings for each. Now big question is why do we need so many modes on the Jeep if two basic modes on the Dacia do the same job? Practical difference between snow or mud will be marginal. The modes selector seems to be only marketing gimmick. The same comment applies to other manufacturers e.g. V W.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers6 жыл бұрын
myslecinaczej Hard question because of two reasons. First - this is static test, it says nothing about dynamic behavior (modes change not only operation of traction control, but also ESP, throttle, accelerator, gearbox, power steering, awd system itself etc.) Second - both cars worked well, but wheel spin was different. Interesting thing is that in Renegade/Compass (Active Drive) there are AUTO-SNOW-SAND-MUD modes, but in Cherokee (Active Drive I) there is SAND/MUD together as one mode. In Suzuki (All Grip Select) there is SNOW/MUD together as one mode.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers5 жыл бұрын
@Razvan J Then why in Suzuki (All Grip Select) there is SNOW/MUD as one mode?
@4x4.tests.on.rollers5 жыл бұрын
@Razvan J I think they mean "slush" (SNOW/MUD - "4WD is set in this mode basically and ensures higher stability against slippery road surface improving traction at low µ road"). For mud they recommend LOCK mode.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers5 жыл бұрын
@Razvan J That is written in service manual (for dealers), not in user manual.
@godgirlsguitars5 жыл бұрын
Yes I would leave it in snow mode as you still have stability control, I would only use mud mode if the vehicle is really stuck in snow as it turns the traction control off.

I don't know exactly is it better to have selectors like on jeep or better to have auto mode like on duster... But every one saw that jeep has stopped his wheels (traction control) to transfer all torque to wheel on the ground. I mean it is not bad from the start, but it is catastrophic for slippery road driving on.

+1, bo ciekawy pomysł z tymi rolkami, chociaż Ducia Duster w praktyce zazwyczaj nie zalicza testów off-roadowych, a Jeepy zaliczają bez problemów. Jak Jeep czegoś nie zaliczy to raczej mało który samochód zaliczy. Z tymi rolkami chyba coś nie tak. Może zależy ile dasz gazu, albo średnica koła albo rodzaj opony. Coś jest nie tak w tych testach.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers6 жыл бұрын
@FajnyAleZaNiski6 жыл бұрын
No właśnie widziałem że przy Subaru XV i Suzuki dawałeś więcej gazu. Średnica koła ma znaczenie, bo to punkt styku, podobnie ilość powietrza w oponach i rodzaj gumy i bieżnika bo to daje poślizg. Mimo wszystko ciekawe podejście z tymi rolkami.

@@toaderspanache8571 They don't have the same awd (although very similar). They have awd from the same producer. Software is individual, that is why it behaves different. GKN Driveline makes tens of different systems for many brands. The one from Duster may be found not only in Nissan or Renault, but in Mitsubishi, Mazda, Suzuki and many others.
