Tip for future videos: rotate the small pictogram with the wheels 90° CW. So its better aligned with the real car (in the big format) and easier to recognize 👍

We did that in the past but it didn't fit with other possible icons like esp or driving modes.

I'm surprised that the Passat handles better with ESP on. I think it did a little better than the Subaru.

Surprised that the VTD system struggles with the single wheel traction tests. How come?

The video has a mistake in the title. The tested model doesn't have VTD (thats a special AWD system with significant differences). It was confused with VDC, which is simply Subarus term for electronic stability control. A real VTD model (only avaiable in 5 speed AT) is more capable. There is a nice video out there where it passes a 1 wheel test even on a slope.

@@b.s.7693 There's no mistake - it has VTD and VDC. VTD was usually combined with 5EAT but there were also versions with 4EAT which we can see here.

@b.s.7693 Yes I am sure. We also tested a Forester 4EAT VTD. Besides you can see it in 0:40 I know the video you linked but that's actually easier test than mine, here's why: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXOWZIZvn8qAeLs I forgot to mention - Legacy in the video you linked has rear LSD.

In fact VTD systems in the '90s came with 4AT and like you said, even a rear LSD (viscous or mechanical). 5AT was implemented since the 2000s when this 4th Gen Legacy was deployed. Unfortunately since the 5th Gen Legacy the VTD lost the rear LSD option (in favor of ABS/TCS/VDC), which is sad......

Witam posiadam skrzynie o nr TZ1B7LCACB Subaru legacy outback 2.5 165km USA , nie mam kontroli trakcji. Więc czy mam vtd czy jakiś inny system?

Witam, niestety nie posiadam wiedzy na ten temat. Wnioskując po braku VDC będzie to napęd ACT-4 (przy skrzyni 4EAT).

Jeden i drugi dobrze wypadł, myślę, że w realu jednym i drugim super się jeździ i dają radę, z czego Passat chyba trochę ładniejszy, ale to już kwestia gustu 🤪

Pewnie tak, aczkolwiek akurat w tym przypadku Subaru ma pewną nadzwyczajną cechę - aktywny centralny dyfer.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Spoko. Ale mnie ciekawi jedno... Jak te 2 auta poradziły by sobie z wjazdem np. na stromą, zaśnieżoną górkę, na takich samych oponach oczywiście 😉 Nie sądzę, żeby Subaru było lepsze. Raz widziałem co Octavia Scout potrafiła to byłem mile zaskoczony.

Różnica w momencie olbrzymia, a radzą sobie podobnie :') Mam wrażenie, że starsze modele radziły sobie o niebo lepiej.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers obu. Tak, wiem że to zależy od haldexa, torsena, od mocy i momentu. I od tego czy Subaru jest ACT-4 czy VTD. Ale ogólnie mam wrażenie, że przy mniejszej ilości elektroniki to jakoś sprawniej to działało.

Only the 3.0l engine model and some turbo charged have 5 speed AT (turbo charged models were not sold here in Europe).

Depends on your definition of off-road. Dirt roads with snow, muddy puddles, etc are perfectly fine for most Subaru’s except for the BRZ. Subaru’s aren’t designed for off-road use on challenging terrain, such as hill climbing, rocky and uneven surfaces, deep mud and sand. These conditions are best for true off road vehicles such as trucks, SUV’s with proper transmissions with low range capability.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers z tego co pamiętam to Tiguan mający ten sam napęd co passat zjechał w każdym ułożeniu. I w zasadzie jestem przekonany, że haldexy od VW na platformie PQ35 powinny zjeżdżać w każdej konfiguracji. Ale wiem też, ze lubią świrować - sam mam teraz TT, które tyłu nie dopina wcale (błąd zbyt wysokiego napięcia) a jakiś czas temu miałem A3 8p, które z kolei nie miało żadnych błędów a dopinało napęd nadgorliwie. Tak, że przy ruszaniu ze skręconymi kołami przeskakiwały opony (zdjęcie nogi z gazu powodowało całkowite rozpięcie napędu). Co ciekawe robiąc testy wykonawcze z VCDSa haldex się spinał i rozpinał jak należy. Oleje i filtr zmieniałem, bez zmian. Oba samochody haldex gen 4.

@@sharqi Nie ma na to żadnej reguły, jedne samochody dają radę, a inne - z tym samym haldexem - nie dają rady. Tu zachodzi kwestia współpracy haldexa z ESP/TC i prawdopodobnie z tego biorą się różnice.

Such OLD cars… Irrelevant! Technology is not much different, but it has evolved and works better overall! Well, except Subaru. Their old Viscous coupler was the best overall but in the name of MPG, now they are just like anybody else…
