We had a BMW 530 Touring for 13yrs before buying a Subaru Outback in Germany with 165 hrprs from its 2.0l Diesel. While it does not have the sublime double glazing, B&W stereo, buffalo leather seats and the straight six scream. It does handle very well, in WHATEVER weather, the Diesel is a happy revving diesel, goes quite well when driven fast. It is robust, reliable and spacious. I’m 6’4”, my dad is 6’2” and I can sit behind him quite comfortable. I was unable to sit behind him in the 5-series, at first we were in the market for a A8 or BMW 7-series. But my mom objected since we have a rather large dog 😂 we randomly stopped by at a Subaru showroom jokingly going to “buy a rally car” but the car sold itself, it has the legroom of a 7-series ffs, the only other large estate to offer this is the Skoda Superb. ALL other cars of similar size did not get to its level. (We tried them all out in the showrooms, Jaguar XF, Audi A6, BMW 5-series, E-class, Mazda 6 etc.) Its great for those 13hr drives to skiing resorts. It goes through 40cm of snow on a decent pair of Micheli tyres. It has a Webasto, to heat it. It has leather seats, seat heating, Cruise control, open roofs and A/C. Plus a fucking manual gearbox. As far as I’m concerned thats all one needs. And a bluetooth connection, also nice. We all enjoy driving and are not keen on all the electronic nannies the competition has. 🤡 I’m gonna take her over in 2y when they’re gonna buy a Electric car at home, I will drive it until it dies. And then I’d like to buy the new model, with the 2,4l Turbo engine, making 270hrsprs. It will be a great sleeper, tearing apart idiots in their Audi A6 or BMW 5-series. It will be great, 1.6tons of Japanese made steel kicking ass in the 3rd lane! Also I take it on scoutscamp, dragging all kinds of shit around through the mud. Its great

Great video.. In Kenya, the Subaru was everything. People lined up the roads to witness the Legacy and Imprezzas of Patrick Njiru and McRae during the Safari Rally. I’ve had two twin turbo Japanese Import Legacy Gt-B wagons!! Loved loved loved them! Great handling, quick enough, loads of room, twin sunroof, way ahead of their contemporaries in terms of electric windows and A/C (96 & 98 models) They were a little bit thirsty!!

View of Uranus exactly! Still got the Subaru rumble and turbo but in a more unassuming body style
@viewofuranus81904 жыл бұрын
@@asianexpectations5579 They never see it coming! The WRX and the Legacy GT, minus a few internals, exhaust and a tune, have the exact same engine! It surprises me that Subi tuning fanatics don't know that. However, the Legacy GT platform has enough weight to stay planted, the body roll hurts it a little but you can stabilize that. I find it interesting that when they started making the Legacys boat sized, the WRX became very similar in size and style to the 4th generation of Legacy, when they moved the base Impreza up in size. I think the potential and possibilities they discovered with the 4th gen Legacy GT was an itch they had to explore!
@Terminator40004 жыл бұрын
View of Uranus yeah engines are the same but are also completely different. As you said different internals exhaust ect but the gt was twin turbo. Makes it years apart from its wrx counterparts. Also parts are not quite interchangeable between the two.

I have a 2010 outback, 1st Subaru ive ever owned, n im beginning to love it. Ive had many vehicles, n for what it is, i love it. It gets decent mpg, like 25 to 28 for the most part, in 2.5L variant. I only paid 5k for it a cpl months ago with 104,000 miles. Not what id expect to pay, but for what was available at that price point near me, its the best car for the money because i need awd for where i live for sure. I still need to show up for work no matter weather or anything. No excuses.

My first car was a 93 Legacy Wagon that my grandparents used to own. Fully loaded. Power windows, power locks, and those sweet automatic seatbelts. Best car I EVER owned. I sold it to my uncle when I bought my 93 Dodge Stealth and it had almost 600,000 miles when he dropped a tree on it and he STILL drove it back to the house. Please do an episode on the Cavalier. You can even do it as a Chevy compact episode. The Citation, Cavalier, Cobalt, and Cruze all in one episode.

I drove a 2.5GT 1999 for almost ten years. Loved it. It was slow as hell but sounded good, always reliable. The 2.5DOHC was much better than the SOHC version, I think people mix up issues with those engines a lot. I miss that car. Nice video.

Mate! I was going to comment exactly that! The fact that USDM only got the EJ25 whereas everywhere else got the JDM EJ20's also wasn't mentioned. I think the 2.0L engines was a regulation on WRC for most of the 90's, right? Personally I owned a (BE) 2001 Legacy B4 RSK in manual and a (BP) 2007 Legacy Wagon Spec-B in auto. For me, the forth gen ones were to most aggressive looking ones and, after that, (fifth gen was the first after Toyota bought Subaru) they all look like Camrys and the doors got pillars! I will definately buy a BL Legacy as a project car soon. Cheers!
