The only thing that winter mode does is that transmission skips two first gears. Because you decided to make these tests, don't make idiotic things such as testing something without having any clue what you're testing. The car's computer is set up to, as standard, send most power to the front wheels (it's visible in the video) as this is the most efficient. As the computer detects it has no grip at the front, it's trying other wheels until eventually it comes to the one which does have the grip. Due to advancement in computing, you can see that it takes longer on the older car vs the newer model to find the "right" wheel. Also, most modern 4x4/AWD cars have a limit of how much power they can send to the back. This is because front-wheel drive is preferred due to (as mentioned) being more efficient and safer, since the car will have a higher tendency to under steer rather than over steer.
