Great ideas! It would be great to see them glazed.
@annruel19828 ай бұрын
Hey Lisa. I thought about glazing them but I am going through my clay so fast, I thought it would be better to recycle for future videos as I would have just used clear glaze over the top which would look very similar to what they are now except shinier. But thank you so much for the feedback. It was a toss up for sure. Cheers.

I like using a handheld immersion blender to mix slip w/water. Then sieve thru 80 mesh screen (or a Talisman sieve).

Hi Beth. I like to use the blender too when I am mixing a big batch of slip, but as I was only mixing a half a cup, I just did it by hand. Great tip though, thanks so much!!

Hey, wonderful video. I have a few questions, hopefully you or someone else can answer them. They are: 1- can you use any sort of pencil? Or does it have to be a special pottery type pencil? 2- How long do you wait for your pieces to dry before carving and slip decorating? A day or two? Or longer? 3- Do you bisque fire before glazing? Or do you have success in greenware stage and glazing? Thanks so much!!

Hi Ms. Montes. I agree. That is one of my favorite colors to use on porcelain for any decorations on clay where I want the glaze to break. It is Mayco Turquoise SW 201.

@@annruel1982 Thank you for the reply. I'll have to try see how it does at cone 5, I have not had much luck with these glazes at 5... I think they definitely need a cone 6 firing. Have a wonderful day, and thank you for video 🙏😊
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
@@ms.montes2080 Actually, I fire to cone 5 and then add a little bit of a hold at the end so the glaze can get a nice melt. About 4 minutes seems to work well without getting any drips.

Do you dip or spray to keep the sewing wheel markings? Love this video!
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
Hi JoAnn. Are you asking how to keep the glaze from covering over the markings? Just make sure that you use a transparent glaze that breaks well over the texture. I like to use Amaco Celedon glazes. Thanks for the kind words and watching the video!!

What glaze did you use on the second mug?? Can it be fired at cone 6?
@morganthomas6205 Жыл бұрын
Hello!! I love your pieces and videos!! I’ve never done slip decorating but have gotten some requests to do so from friends! Can you do slip decor on any clay body? Would the process be: add slip decor (or carvings!) to your green ware (pre bone dry), fire it at bisque fire, glaze the piece, and then fire it at glaze fire? Any can this be done at low medium and high fires? Thank you so much!!!
@LittleStreetPottery Жыл бұрын
Yes - you can slip most bodies but best to test before. I do it at greenware stage then bisque then high fire. I can still tweak it at the bisque stage (Cone 04) if needed. Typically cone 5 for high fire. Good lucK!
@marmorceramics9 ай бұрын
Hello ! Do you know how to avoid cracks in the texture added with slip ? I was wondering if I should deflocculate the slip, but I don't know to what proportions or if it's even a good idea.
@LittleStreetPottery8 ай бұрын
So many variables...could be cracks from the variance in dryness (putting something wet on something too dry)...depends on what kind of clay you are using for slip too...the porcelain tends to be smooth and does not crack. You can try deflocculating but it may thin it out too much...
@zenaidemed Жыл бұрын
