Nik Nocturnal That was the first Slipknot song that I came across from Corey Taylor and Slipknot in general. But also Alex Hefner reacted to it as his first taste in heavy metal music.as well. This is his favorite metal band for him. As for me I had a friend who would talk about Slipknot a lot when he and I were in high school. I thought he was crazy. But literally after all this time he wasn’t crazy at all. In fact Slipknot is such a highly popular metal band of our generation for the past 20 years. And I even bought their recent album We Are Not Your Kind a few months back. So it’s good to hear you do a Slipknot classic for once. Also I discovered this song on ATV Off-road Fury 3 for the PS2 when I was only around ten or eleven years old. Can’t say for sure because I cannot recall the first time I heard of them. But either way still awesome though. Keep on rocking.

It's literally just a bunch of octaves. It's neither a chord progression nor is it the best part guitar was it's incredibly simple

Get some fresh air.

@@Photus27 LoL....He s not doing a natural harmonic...He s using pich harmonics...u do it with your finger on the picking hand. Check the technique online. After you pich the string you rest part of the thumb on the string creating this effect. Practice...it s easy. With distortion makes it easier to do.

Thought I'd mention I think the part starting at 1:33 is incorrect! It should be four notes on fret 12, two notes on fret 7. I was finding it tricky after the open notes on the 6th string to get back to the 5th string to repeat the riff, but now an upstroke escape/down slant works for the whole riff. Listen to the song on half speed and you can hear it.

The verse part is incorrect. There is a video where Jim Root is showing how to play it on youtube. It's 12 12 12 12 7 7 not 12 12 12 7 7 7 I know it doesn't really matter but I was a bit confused and thought that have been playing this wrong all this time. So maybe it'll be helpful for smbd.

Small correction on the riff leading into the verse: The 0-1-0-3 and the 0-1-0 into the pinch bends are notated as single notes, but they are infact muted powerchords.

few things i should point out, at the beginning of the song before the 3rd fret is hit, it follows as “0, 1, 2” then builds up to the 3. my second point is that you played micks verse along with jims (and micks verse was played slightly incorrect) third point, the prechorus is “3, 4” not “3, 5” and finally in the last chorus, jim does this thing where he plays 2 B’s an octave above the low E string. you can listen to the guitar track to find out what i mean in all my points. nonetheless the cover was great 🎸🔥
