No matter how you slice it let’s be real… slipknot is a machine with moving parts. Without the machine going there is no money being made. If the machine stops so dose the money. What happens in this situation? They replace the parts that no longer can help the machine function. At the end of the day it’s all about the money. Shawn made executive decisions to keep the machine going and the cash flowing.

In fairness, they let Joey go because Joey was no longer able to play due to illness. He tried making some comebacks, but at the end of the day, that illness that prevented him from performing at the level required for Slipknot took his life.
@strawberrydreams18143 ай бұрын
@@SixStringDave_90 Its not even really the reason, it's the way they did it. They fired him over email because they didn't even have the balls to say it to his face and some members publicly trashed him full on knowing it was due to an illness, blamed it on him being too drunk to walk, too drunk to play. They went about it in probably the most dickheaded way imaginable. So any criticism they get on it is incredibly valid.

I was at the Dallas show last night. It’s amazing that the bulk of the guys are 50 years old, playing the most demanding setlist they have in 20 years. Yet, they are tight as hell, and give 110% of themselves every night. Corey sounds his best since Iowa. I can’t jump on the bandwagon of hating on them for ousted members, or try to pretend I have a shred of knowledge about what goes on in that band behind closed doors. I just know they’ve been my favorite band since ‘99, and I’ll stick with them until there’s nothing left to stick with. I’m just glad they’re still putting out good tunes, playing solid shows, and FINALLY giving some fan service to the day 1 fans with this tour. Eloy’s playing has elevated and energized the OG members. They have stepped up their game to match his performance, and it was just fuckin’ CHERRY, man. So good. My only complaint was the audience, and how so many took such a special occasion for granted. By that, I mean so many people watched that show through a phone screen. Ipso facto, I had to watch it through their phones screens. It’s so rude, man. I’ll never understand how people can be present at an event such as a live Slipknot show, and now use their own eyes to watch it, and just be in the moment. Long live Slipknot. RIP Joey and Paul.🤘🏻

I'm with you and will always love this band no matter what the line up change to the members of the band becomes. But I will always remember and hold a special place in my heart for those that left (or removed) for unknown reasons. The thing about the phones, sooo true! When I saw the Knot in Camden, NJ this tour luckily not too many people in front of me on their phones, but I just saw Korn in Camden last night. I can't say that I also didn't record some things, but when I record I hold the phone close to my chest so as to not be in my line of view or others line of view. I feel if you are going to record, at least try and be considerate of those around you, and also not record the whole goddamn show, then really what is the point of going in person, just watch it from someone else's phone recording for free on KZbin....

Once you hit the 20+ year mark, bands basically become legacy acts. Even new fans come in on the strength of their older material. What was once a band, becomes a business venture, with bills and employees to take care of besides their own. Young single musicians are now older, possibly married, possibly parents, and the things that drove them then have given way to the comfort of wealth, or the worries of family life. These were the grips I had to come to with all my favorite bands from the 80’s (Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, etc..) These are the grips those generation of fans need to come to as well.

Corey said years ago that they dont really have personal relationships anymore. They are just co workers and have been for a long time. Paul was really the glue that kept them a brotherhood. As long as the music and the shows are good thats all that really should matter to us fans. Which they still are. Also Joey and roadrunner were mostly responsible for why he was fired. Everybody knows he was struggling with his health and it started impacting his ability to drum. So how it went down according to jim root, during his interview with revolver years ago. Was that The record label was pressuring slipknot to release another album because they still had a contract with them. It had been too long since AHIG and they needed another album. Joey begged the label for more time. But roadrunner gave them a deadline and said either make an album or we are dropping slipknot. Because Joey would not tell roadrunner why he could not work on .5. They cracked down on the whole band. Leaving slipknot no choice to replace joey and quickly work on the grey chapter. Its sad how it went down jut whats even sadder is the amount of people delude their perception of the band and spread hate towards them for making a very hard decision. Now as too why they never brought joey back after he started getting better. I am not sure. But I imagine it has something to do with it being unfair to jay. Before you start talking about the fact jay was fired. Jay was fired after a whole decade with the band and they legit wanted to change their sound. Jay played the songs at a faster tempo than what they are on the albums. Slipknot decided they wanted it to sound more similar to the albums and hired eloy. Which is how he has been playing the songs!!! That is the "Creative Decision" they were talking about.

The thing about slipknot that makes their situation even more unique and probably more difficult to navigate through is these are things that a lot of bands go through but in most bands, you have anywhere from 3 to 5 people. It’s a lot more personable. I think slipknot is like any other band or group of people that you have in your life in early adulthood. You think this is a group of people you will always call your brother when you first meet you just met. You’re not around each other all the time yet. Fast-forward a few more years when you’ve been around each other every day and you’re on the road with each other and there’s no breakfast luncheon dinner, plus you’re partying together now your band also has a social Circle with the stage crew, girlfriends, longtime friends, etc. Now, if you add on top of that you get famous and there’s money involved and it can get very stressful very quickly and now these people that you call your brothers who do you really do love can sometimes really get on your nerves. I think that’s about where they were when they fired Joey. And I think firing him for whatever was going on in the band at the time and then having him pass away I did affect them, but I don’t feel like he’s being totally honest Here. It’s not like Joey died and that’s how he left the band. But yeah, half the band aren’t original members anymore and you have that many people in a band it’s going to be really hard to get close again . Look at Metallica for example if there were four or five more members in that band, they wouldn’t have made it through the early 2000 s. Because they’re only four person. It’s a lot easier to sit down and get personal with each other to work out issues. You’re going to grow apart naturally as human beings anyway. Think about groups of friends. All of us has had that we swore we were going to be friends forever and then you get to your 40s and realize maybe one or two of those people are someone you check in with every now and then. it’s basically the same thing except their business partner so they grow they never get that chance to miss each other. They just get annoyed with each other because it’s a business and they have to work with each other.

Because offer that we would follow them the Rave in Milwaukee for the years the came, with Mudvanye and Dope!! The most epic experience we could have ever had!! Then throw … going around back and waiting for the band after the show!! Not knowing what was coming!.. first, Cid came out … funny thing was, my bruda mistook him for another fan trying to cut in front of us and got pissed!! It’s Hilarious now !! But the most memorable things was to have Paul, then Corey, Jim and Jordy come out and hang out with the crowd of us!!! Because one of the most memorable things that happened during that night after the show!!… My bruda had the nerve to ask Paul for his beer … which I believe was a model or Dos Equis beer that he had!!! After he took a slip!! Till this day, I’ve always looked at him an artist that would give the beer out his hand or shirt off his back!! And with that I knew that this band was more then what we had the opportunity to listen too!! They were living the Slipknot Family and were there to make sure we knew!!! It breaks my heart to hear that things are in a state of flux!! Because the knot has meant as much to them as it has been for us!! ❤❤❤ much love to everything Slipknot and everyone that has been there from the beginning to now has been to us!! Just wanted to say what it’s been to me and the other Maggot’s that’s been there since OzzyFeast !! ❤❤❤

@@michaelpalmer5351well, no, in the very beginning they cycled a lot thru different members. Its why on the first album cover multiple people like craig and sid are edited in. When I saw them in Baltimore in August, it certainly didn't feel the same as I watched them as I was growing up when I was in school. The OG members from everyone's part completed that band. Seeing these new members perform just felt... empty. Don't get me wrong, they are talented, but nothing will be the same without Paul, Joey, Chris and Craig. It does feel like Slipknot is becoming more of a "job" for them rather than doing shows with passion and pure performance from their hearts.
@unholycrucifilth3 ай бұрын
In other news water is wet, of course you guys aren't. Iowa is what brought you guys the closest and then you had Paul dying, Joey being removed from the band Chris leaving, then firing Craig and then weinberg. Shawn and Corey caused it. They were family but now they are just band mates
@malcomcysec43983 ай бұрын
I think Clown is confused about his feelings. They got old, things have changed completely. Slipknot was a bunch of young guys pursuing the hall of fame. They reached the peak of the fame… now things are not the same. It’s time to change and pursue new things
@nathantragni11033 ай бұрын
And I think people got realize as a person that wants to be in a band myself it’s a mixture of passion and a living. They’re not just doing it because we want to make a lot of people happy. They’re also trying to make money. So when people are like oh it was originally brotherhood now it’s just business business is always been a part of it. That’s literally why band tour is to make money. But I do agree in the fact of their older stuff is definitely superior and I hope personally then in a few years they do an anniversary tour for Iowa that would be awesome.

I met Shawn around 2010/2011. He was one of the judges in a contest our band was in. We were showered with praise from him and another roadie, but they never followed-up with us, which is fine; they’re busy people and there are thousands of bands clawing for relevance. He was socially awkward, but friendly. I don’t think he wanted to be there. He looked like most rockers on the road - tired and missing home. It’s a rough life. I’m glad our band didn’t reach road status; I think it would’ve been a lonely life. Chad Gray told me he’s exhausted all the time when I met him; he looked similar as far as tired and missing home.

Like most people on here, I feel a certain way about how Slipknot has done things especially in the last 10 years or so..but I also understand that these aren't just 9 random guys from Iowa anymore, this isn't the 90's anymore. Slipknot has become far greater than anyone could have possibly predicted, the band included. Eventually you get so big that a passion project turns into a brand and goes commercial. Not saying this is a bad thing, I feel like Metallica is the perfect example of humble beginnings to global phenomenon but still staying true to themselves. With all the moving parts in Slipknot, it was only a matter of time before the band had to start making some executive decisions. I wish they would have gone about things differently but at the end of the day it's their name, their brand, and their business.

Didn't know much about them before. Didn't even realize the relationship between slipknot and vended until after the show. Ive been listening to both bands after seeing them there. All 3 bands did a good job and I had a blast. Thst was probably the most metal concert I think I've ever been too, and I've seen a few in my life. That crowd was wild! Also learned slipknot apparently are banned from Portland oregon so that's why they chose ridgefield. From what I could dig up it looks like they lit either their hotel room on fire or a room backstage at a show in Portland and got kicked out from the entire city 😂
