It's also them "killing" their old self, which is why they are wearing their old masks for those parts. This was the first single released off of that album so it was the introduction of the new masks for that album cycle and the "killing off" of the old ones. Clown directs their videos and did a behind the scenes about this one. All of their deaths were based on personal fears, except for Jay and Vman who were barely shown and were the two stabbed by the other band members because they were still pretty new at the time.

To fully understand this music video, you have to know the history of the band. This was one of their 1st songs in 2014 after their bassist, one of the founders, had passed. And also they had replaced their drummer due to internal drama. The stabbing, I think, represented an initiation of the 2 new members. And you also see some of their old masks being destroyed and metaphorically speaking them being reborn into the new album without those 2 members. Kudos to you, one of their best newer songs!

It’s representing them killing off the old versions of themselves, since they change masks (and overall sound) with each new album. The two guys in the wheel chairs being killed are the new members of the band, being “inducted” into the group. The bassist replacing Paul Grey who died, and the drummer replacing Joey who had to leave.

As many will tell you, check out spit it out live. Corey got some bars. These dudes have been headliners since 99, great band even better live, I don’t think any band can out do them when it comes to live shows. Stick with it, these dudes haven’t been rocking this long and still selling out every show for no reason. And if you keep doing metal, you will see all the shock value in the videos. Just how it’s been for a long time now, it shocks people who aren’t used to it but I came from the Marilyn Manson days. This isn’t all that crazy, really awesome you dig the music though. Maybe check out more metal and rock??

It’s not very long but it does give some insight into why each member did what they did in the video. They are not being graphic for the sake of being graphic. Most Slipknot songs have a much deeper meaning.

Had the chance to see them in 2015 and I've been to alot of metal concerts but they were one of the absolute best they've been doing this for over 20 years now the lead singer Corey Taylor is one of the most talented vocalists in metal he can go from the most aggressive growl to beautiful melody Nero Forte off their newest album is very worth checking out

You have t realize that this video is about death of the ego... The director of the video asked each member of the band how they always wanted to die on film... Basically if you were to get movie role and your character dies in that movie, how would you want your character to die??? So the members of the band started coming up with ideas, and the video director made them happen.

My favorite band by far. Their videos are always well produced, and generally graphic. Corey Taylor, the lead singer does most of the song writing, and each song is an incredible story. If you can get past the shock value, and dig deep into the lyrical content you'll be amazed. I think "Snuff" by Corey Taylor is more your speed. If you decide to react to it, do the live acoustic version, I think you'll enjoy it more. Thanks again Sushi, keep these coming, glad you're back! 🍻

With this song, if I remember correctly, there was the passing of one of their band mates and into the song was a positive message with the video as we all have our demons, whatever it may be which in this case was substance abuse. To properly grieve over the loss of their band mate, everybody got a brand new look, killing off their former looks to lay that chapter of slipknot with the one who passed away. Corey Taylor is a lyrical beast and the production is a bit dark but has that hidden positive meaning.

So this was their first video off of a new album at the time. Each album brings new or updated masks. In this video they were killing off their old selves for their new ones (aka masks). You also have a new drummer replacing Joey and a new bass player replacing Paul (RIP). Those are the 2 in the video in wheel chairs. They have to be killed off to be in the band. You notice you don't see them until after they are stabbed up. Also each member chose their biggest fears as a way to die in this.

Not sure anyone said this but the reason they wear the mask is because The band has said the idea of wearing masks stemmed from a clown mask that Crahan took to rehearsals when the band first started. Crahan later became known for his clown masks, adopting the pseudonym "Shawn the Clown".

i really love how youre opent to just listening to and watching music/vids from all genres. :-) its funny how most people that dont really listen to matal etc, always say its all about devil worship or we are satanists but if you really listen to the lyrics its mainly about how hurt we are inside and about the troubles we have been through. and the songs and videos are an expression of that hurt just being let out. so yeah it looks dark but thats what pain inside looks like i guess.
