Its not about who they are, its about what they do and what their music stands for. The barcode on their suits also represents a deep meaning, This number is the barcode number on the "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat" album, their very first album. They purchased the rights to this barcode, and this specific number is used and abused only by Slipknot. Well yeah that’s what always put slipknot ahead in many ways in comparison to the other nu-metal bands Cory arguably had a big rap influence in his vocal style like in “spit it out” I mean take the screaming away and he basically rapping “in time” with the beat as opposed to many metal singers who progress with the guitar and energy of the song. Cory is the energy in the song!

You will probably have to pull up the lyrics if you want to understand them in most metal songs. Even as a lifelong Metalhead I can't understand a lot of what many bands are saying without reading the lyrics. The music and instrumentation is usually the primary focus in most metal bands. With the guitar being the main driving Factor. Unlike in hip-hop where the lyrics are the main focal point. Not saying the lyrics are unimportant. Just not the main focus a lot of times.

I thinkb it depends on the person listening and the vocalist. I've been a metal head for 10 years and I can understand most screamed vocals including suicide silence and jobforacowboy. Some are easier to understand though like Lamb of God for example. Alot of it is just becoming familiar with the style and enunciation of the words

In rap and Rnb the vocals end at the snare/hi-hat, in metal it would be the crash. So Corey isn’t following the drums he’s following the guitar. That’s why he sounds off beat to them. There’s Some rappers who get told they’re off beat because they flow to the melody and not the drums as well such as G herbo and Blueface. So I get what they mean but to us who are used to metal we don’t see it like they do.

Slipknot fan since 1999. They were my first concert. This is my first time seeing this channel and honestly, I didn't think I was going to like this video at all from the intro. My reaction to hearing them in 99 wasn't far off from yours now. I bought the CD and read along with the lyrics to learn them and have did that with any metal band I like. For me it was part of the experience. Like, "this is our music and it's not for everyone" Btw, I don't know if there's any videos out there if it but back in 99 they used to set each other in fire during shows Good video overall. Thanks
