Oh man you like Dark Cloud too? I grew up with that being my favorite game. The same company made White Knight Chronicles, I believe, which was also a good game but the opening tutorial and events that set everything in motion is very similar to Dark Cloud 2 as well. I had noticed it when I played WKC the first time with the clowns and the circus. I really would love a new Dark Cloud though.
