Over the weekend, RaceTV went OFF-ROAD at the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race in Colorado with Lachlan Morton. Leadville is high altitude, no-nonsense racing. Go hard, and try to hold on. This year, Lachlan came in ready after weeks of training in Leadville and a bike set up that had been dialed over weeks, even months, of testing. But Leadville had other plans.

Was up in Leadville climbing almost a month before Leadville and saw Lachlan coming in from a training ride. How long was Lachlan up in Leadville with his family training before the race? That is pure love of the outdoors, sport and a dedication to winning.

I got stationed in CO Springs after 3 years in the Army, so I was in shape and pretty fit. My first day there I tried to run up three flights of stairs to get something out of my room and thought I was going to die. I can't imagine the feeling of that much exertion at 10k+ feet. My lungs and heart hurt thinking about it lol

This is my first ep of race tv. Reminds me of fuel tv from 20 years ago. I like the ef gone racing format way better. Couldn't get through much more than a few minutes of this. It all feels disjointed, like all these random clips were cut up and slapped together. Stop asking about his favorite colors and food and focus on the race, that's what I thought this was about? Idk.

Quick answer to the opening question: no. To my understanding the hardest bike race is the Tour Divide, which is about 2800 miles with about 200,000 feet of climbing.

Lachlan is a star. He and Keegan are inspirations to budding cyclists, by all means give the UCI game your best but it doesn't define you. Keegan could so easily ride world tour, he could be the new Sepp Kuss, a high altitude alpine steam train but I kind of like that he doesn't want to play the world tour team game, successful on his own terms. Lachlan has 100% shown him the way.

Take a look at Cape Epic results. This is where the best endurance mountain bike racers of the world start. He was not even in the top 10 together with Lachlan. He is an incredible racer, but as soon as he goes one level higher there are better ones

Blevins won and he could not keep up with Keegan in any endurance races this year. Watch the event and even the EF videos and you will hear LM admit he held Keegan up all week
