Let's be real, that type of mana base for any constructed deck is unacceptable. You don't need to force new players into shocks and fetches, but at the very least give them untapped lands. Gemstone Mine, Unclaimed Territory, Sliver Hive, battlebond lands, ancient ziggurat, check lands, tango lands, like anything better than the FREAKING ALARA/KHANS TAPPED TRI CYCLE and a practically useless tapped fetch. New players deserve better than that.

​@brendanp6991 because there was excessive demand for the product and then no demand. Kinda like how my LGS sells precons from 2-3 sets back for cheaper. The demand isn't there, so they're trying to get something out of it. If you think people are gouging, look at Walmart, Target, etc prices. They don't know enough about the product to play games like that so it's just cost + mark up. Locally they're all pretty even suggesting this is a high base price product set by WOTC.

This deck has a markup because it has A) new good cards for Sliver tribal and B) new and/or reprinted good cards for tribals in general. The markup is for a reason, but that reason is that Slivers are a very popular tribe that always has a set jump up in popularity. If people didn’t buy out the demand at $120+, it would have stuck to around $80 like it should be. The colorless deck is also stupidly expensive, especially after this deck reveal, while enchantments is incredibly inexpensive in comparison. It’s all supply and demand combined with sellers choosing to extort as much as they can get away with.

The lack of at least a few of the battlebond land cycle here is fairly disappointing. Also, this would have been a perfect place to reprint Sliver Hive, especially for the price this thing is preselling at. That being said, this deck looks really fun, especially once the land base it upgraded. The backup commander has a lot of potential.

It was nice to see 5 typed check lands and 3 typed cycling lands. Which is far better than usual offerings, but beyond that it feels more like trying to make older support lands available than being a functional mana base. I'm very much inclined to try cutting some number of them for access to more basics and fewer ETB Tapped lands.

I view the amass army idea as each time you add from a different creature type, those creatures are added to the army. Not that it becomes a hybrid abomination. Like when you added orc to the zombie army, a few orcs joined the zombies you hard into 1 bigger army. Now I imagine it’s just a couple slivers joining their orc and zombie buddies. But mashing all 3 into one creatures, sure! It’s MTG, that can happen, but it was usually called mutate.

Commander precons are usually printed with a brand new backup commander in their colors, we're lucky we got the hivelord. So by that logic, the eldrazi precon is only going to get one other legendary eldrazi. Imagine how bad that deck is going to be, since the only logical choices would be Kozilek, the Great Distortion or Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger.

Gravemother is good in the 99 I guess and Lazotep Sliver can go infinite within the Sliver engine. A reprint of Hivelord is cool (although he is the Sliver Legend that needed it the least) and Synapse Sliver and Galerider Sliver are cool. I give it a 2.5/10.

I think hatchery sliver is dope af.... itself having replicate is almost pseudo protection. Its not not additive in any meaningful way to have replicate twice on your creatures in your hand.. but not just dying to a removal spell is nifty.

I think a lot of people have been sleeping on hatchery sliver. Any of the buffing slivers get a huge boost from it.. Sinew sliver is nice... how about I just cast 2 more of them for a 3 bodies and a permanent +3/+3. Oh look at that I have extra mana because of my gemhide sliver.. let's give all my creatures ward 3. I'll just Replicate my plated sliver 5 times for so more chump blockers...oh and they now have +5 toughness.

If I were a new player and just wanted a deck to play or was just starting in commander & was a fan of slivers this'll be great. But at such inflated prices it's still pushing it's luck. As someone who picked up a set of the precons because I thought they'd actually have quality reprints in addition to an actually functional deck it's terrible. My dissapointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. Just look at the fucking mana base, this is an 80$ 5 color deck for Garfield's sake.

Yea I was so excited to finally dust off my slivers and add them to this precon. Never canceled a preorder faster. The only legendary sliver being reprinted is one I already own (was praying for the first sliver or sliver hive/queen), so the face general's ignoring legend rule only functions on herself if encored or with trickery/ deck cuts, and the second face general isnt even a sliver? Then the mana base being incredibly sub par for the current asking price, I wouldnt even get this for msrp let alone the inflated prices. I really had hope they would try to save face after so many recent blunders and actually make a masters product worthy of the masters title and price, but alas

I wanted this deck since I first heard about it. I played a Sliver deck back in Tempest and always loved the playstyle. But for $100, this is very, very underwhelming. I don't like the route Wizards is taking in the least. I am aware that Hasbro is pressuring them into generating higher profits but at a certain point their price and quality policy will backfire. I haven't bought Middle Earth and guess this set is a no go too 🙄

WotC put the same mana base in the Jared Carthalion deck and sold it for LITERALLY 1/3 OF THE PRICE. Cool artifacts though, and some unique first-prints? That manabase is an embarasmment. I think it's somehow worse than the painbow deck but for double the price. Theres a couple of cool new cards but really wizards? I can buy a printer for what this deck costs, but the ink I'd use printing cards is worth more than the lands.

The manabase is awful, but even more than that I'm very annoyed by how bad the alternate commander is. She is literally unusable. We could have had an Eminence Sliver, or just ANYTHING that could challenge the Overlord as Commander piece, but nah... And said overlord isn't even in that deck. Hell, imagine if we got an Amass Sliver Commander. Like "Every time a Sliver enter the battlefield Amass Sliver 1, or something like that.

Strangely enough, outside of the 6 new slivers, I think the biggest value of that deck may be the new art that replace the awful M14 humanoid slivers, I can see these cards get value just because of that.

Running Rukarumel Biologist as your commander and naming slivers seems to be the way to go. Slivers are honestly the best lords in the game, and turning a vanilla creature like Yargle and Multani into a sliver seems a little busted. Never mind the ablity to give off color buffs to creatures that are already busted.

Interesting. Hatchery Sliver is S tier. Lazotep Sliver is SS tier (for some reason he got two bonuses when just one would have been good enough). Taunting Sliver is neat I like it. Regal Sliver is disappointing. Had he put +1/+1 counter on slivers he would have been great, but has he is right now he just a very poorman Door of Destiny. Not awful, but not mindblowing either. Capricious Sliver is outclassed on every front by Kindred Discovery. Titan of Littjara is a good draw engine, but he lacks Changeling which cuts him from a lot of tribal shenanigan. I guess is statline will carry him over the line. Descendant's Fury is cool, but not a a card you'd really want in a sliver deck tbh. For the ancestors is okay but Kindred Summoning is a thing. The big disappointment is Rukarumel. She is just trash and a wast of space, she couldn't even justify her existence by being sliver or being a lesser Queen who can pump out sliver tokens for 3 without tapping. A bit (a lot) disappointed by the fact that the non sliver cards in there don't have some sliver theme illustration, but then again there is a lot of cool new sliver illustrations in there for some slivers (I'm especially happy by the fact that they have redone all the silly M15/14 humanoid slivers illustrations to make them look like, yaknow, slivers). I'm also a bit sad we haven't seen tricolor slivers yet. As for the deck itself, the manabase, support spells and legendary slivers are very, VERY light to justify that pricepoint ngl. This deck could have used one more legendary slvier (overlord, first or Legion), a kindred card (like that cool sliverthemed Kindred Dominance) and some better lands (doesn't even have Sliver Hive!)

@@Kristjan0209 Have you ever played a tribal deck? Half the tech in thos decks is to be able to go fetch in your deck or graveyard tribal cards, or play tribal cards from your hand. This guy doesn't have changeling which means he can't be used for any of that.

I mainly play on untapped with friends. (Also play on Arena of course) but we always pick pre-cons to play during releases (or around there) and I'm pretty dang excited to play Slivers. Been playing since tempest so Slivers as always close to my heart!

So just did a price check. For the 17 main Gates (the Guild Gates and 7 of the 8 Baldur's Gate lands) you'd pay about $13. An Amulet of Vigor is $25. So......

I'm not sure if this preview is part of a sponsorship or a kind of paid collab, but it would be Nice with some honesty about the powerlevel, mana base and price, given that one of you was a pro player for years. It's great that you're doing a happy and peppy deck reveal, but it feels like a veil.

not really, the deck is really trash, the mana base alone is unacceptable, no sliver legion, no first sliver, the most expensive card is like brood sliver. this is 35 eur worth of cards. And it's borderline unplayable as is.

@@denaxil9012 I understand that, if comparing to the price these are going for. I too expected way more for the price, especially in the mana base. But if you already have some decks - maybe even a 5c one - just use Proxies or, if that is not allowed in your group, switch the mana bases before playing. Again, do not want to justify the price - but still think the new cards are very cool.

The tri-color taplands are an understandable choice for budget mana fixing, but there are clearly better fixes without putting the beloved shock lands, pain fetches, or triomes. The ten Pathways would've been an acceptable option, especially since they were in From Cute to Brute. But I'm not particularly interested in the mana base since I've been acquiring cards heavily since All Will Be One. I can make this deck work, but I agree with the complaints. This deck should be competitive with the other three, out the box. Especially since Sliver players get targeted early, often & are actively prevented from building a presence the board. There should be better untapped options or this deck should've had an 11th unique card to untap those lands as they enter (not Tiller Engine though it would work).

@@LordDrieg I am not sure if Pathways are a good choice in a 5c deck as you cannot fetch them (e.g. with natures lore, three visits, farseek or slow / normal fetches). If I want to stay in budget, I would probably add more basics (so that the slow/check-lands come in untapped most of the time) and a bit more of green land ramp. First relativly cheap upgrade would probably the world tree (which even has a crazy combo with the secondary commander in this deck) and chromatic lantern.

Dude you could use descendants fury with the tokens from lathliss the dragon queen because it is so easy to get a bunch of those once your set up and you can get your dragons with tribal effects

Now, I'm having a hard time justifying even the precon I'm going to build. Ain't no way Anikthea is gonna be packing a much needed Argothian Enchantress reprint. It too probably won't be worth the value sadly.

Really enjoyed your presentation of the deck. Getting stuck in and geeking over new cards. Not impressed by the mana base or the lack of legendary slivers, which seemed to be promised by the face commander, and doesn't feel premium, but it looks a strong deck for the 1 in 5 times you manage to hit the right lands. I think the value will be watered down by the recent reprints of tribal staples in other precons. Hopefully this is the bottom end value-wise of the masters precons
