Got a 2014 SLK55 late last year and learned about your channel. Your car looks very much like mine. I love the black/charcoal interior. It was so hard to find one without red interior, too loud for me. Anyway, other than production year, this car isn't old! It still looks fresh in 2023 and just as stylish as the current Mercedes-Benz models. How is it flawed and outdated, maybe I didn't catch it in the video. Please post more on the SLK55!!

Good taste 😎 Not a fan of the red leather either tbh. Oh, I think it still looks mega. At my age much prefer the descrete look. However, underneath it is an old car now, no doubt. More modern rivals i've driven (and owned) do ride a bit better, turn a bit sharper, react a bit quicker, provide abit more feel, etc. That's just progress I guess. However you can keep them because IMO a) they just don't provide the drama b) aren't as well built and c) the prices these days are just crazy. Think this is the longest i've ever kept a car now, and no plans to change any time soon. Many thanks for watching 👍

Owned an SLK55 for a while, its awesome. The only think is manual changes on the gearbox are slow.

Watching your videos, I get the sense you're not comfortable with the car's drivability in anything other than dry conditions? Doesn't the traction control give you any confidence

Great content. From what I see, believe an SLK55 will scratch my mlc itch just fine. Back in the UK in August and will be on the lookout for a nicely spec'd example.

You must at least try one. Obviously I’m biased but bang per buck is off the scale and it’s nice to have something a bit different too. Oh, and the noise, have I ever mentioned the noise 😀

It was good news, was preparing for the worst with the aircon tbh. A £55 re-gas felt like dodging a bullet, phew!! She does go well to be fair, even at her age 😂😂

Worth the visit to the M-B museum loads of interesting vehicles. Also worth taking a trip to Affalterbach to visit the AMG facility You will need to book it in advance and give them your AMG engine number. 😀

Hey great Video and now i looking forward to put my one out of the winter storage again. I will service it as well at end of march on a specialized shop. About your question to come to the mercedes museum i was there four times and i will say its definitely worth a visit all time. Good thing on your planing trip will be as well that you can go on the Autobahn and use or explore legally the power and acceleration in higher speed levels of this phantastic and for the moment absolutely underrated car. Its unbelievible how quick this car runs into his speed limiter 250 or 280 Km/h. Many other nice road trips you can do along germany as well and if you need more information so feel free to let me know. I will now went to garage and kiss my one..!🥰 Have a good day gentlemen

Great information, many thanks 👍 A few people have said the museum is worth the trip so hoping to book it for some time in April. The roads in Germany are great, we lived on Ramstein Air Base for 3 years (so i'm a 1. FCK fan) and I love the place. Haven't been back for a number of years so really looking forward to it. Is the 55 overlooked in Germany too then? I know its getting old now but overhere it really is just Porsche's (and M2s) everywhere nowadays. All the best from us here in sunny Scotland 😎

Hi Brazil 👋 Now that’s a place I’d love to visit. I’ve just done standard maintenance to be honest and all has been well. Do always let it fully warm up before giving it full power and tend to stick to decent 99 octane fuel. Enjoy your car and all the best from us here in sunny Scotland 👍

Looking at this. Still got a 370Z 3rd one. My service was about £550 inc coolant and sparks....no diff or auto gearbox. Those are £500 on their own.

B services are usually about £200-£250 more, so still not too bad. It's spark plugs every 4 years, they're a bit pricey. Mrs Mid Life Motors loves the 370. A friend has the Nismo edition and it does look mega. Apparently not cheap servicing at Nissan though, but where is these days!!

Absolutely, the only car I think that could tempt me out of this. Got quite a lot of sentimental value now my slk (I know, its only a car!!) plus i've owned it since new, otherwise its an obvious update IMO. GTC in blue with tan for me please 😎

Tbh not really something I notice unless I jump straight into the Mazda from the MR2. The visibility out of a full convertible is better but I wouldn't really mark the MX5 down, more the Toyota scores more. If that makes sense 🤞

Did you spec the amg drivers pack with lsd and stiffer springs? I think those can be done after market especially LSD

There were only stock cars left when I bought this, no factory orders, production had switched to the SLC. This is the 6th last RHD SLK55 registered and all the rest were black, which I didn't really fancy. Not sure i'd want any stiffer springs tbh, the ride is quite firm anyway, even in comfort. A diff would be nice, quaffe do a well priced LSD, but not really essential on this car. It has a pointy front end and a rear that isn't snappy, so its basically set up to be safe. Suits the car's character tbh.

Not as many videos on the R172 as the R171. Short production. SLC just not the same or the new SLK 😂. Maybe ill get it as a summer car then move the Z on in summer. Im considering this instead of 981 Cayman S which would cost more to maintain and buy

@@blademanx Mine replaced a Boxster 981S, which I just didn't get on with tbh. If you want a serious driving tool to go chasing apexes, then the Porsche is the answer. If you enjoy a bit of ooomph (the merc is noticably faster) and a car that doesnt take itself seriously, then the Porsche isnt the answer.
