Great videos Vern . I operate graders in southern Ontario have driven graders for 40 plus years Thel last 25 fine grading and still learning the best thing I have learned is to be able to try new ways. And fine grading takes time

my work place has 4 out of 6 graders ,5 Cat m series and a Komatsu with levers . the m series drivers have 3d gps and think it saves a lot using pegs and string lining but near finish level the worn out blades can put out levels out so they all adjust at one part of job and allow for it .

I usually check my slope meter at the shop on concrete floor. It should read level. The way you calibrate yours was a good idea, especially if you do not get back to your shop to often. Thankyou for your information and instruction. We are always looking for better, easier and more efficient ways to do things. I live over the boarder into Maine. We use feet and 10s of a foot. Only involved in one job at the Ship yard that was metric. After that job we were supposed to change over but never did. Still using feet and yards.

Hi Clyde, All the blueprints use metric, and the jobsites are surveyed in metric, it has been that way in Canada since 1975. When I buy a tape measure, I make sure it shows both imperial, and metric. Nice hear from the State of Maine, thank you for the input.

To check it I just put a hand level on the frame and level the machine with the moldboard, but this way is very good too

Hey man, very cool video. I am 48 years old and I’ve been running graders in central Florida for 26 years now started at the age of 22 … are you still operating graders to this day? And if so, what state? Keep up the great work.

You slope gauge is extra large , where did you purchase it from ? I can only find very small ones.

A lot of years have passed since I purchased my slope meter, but I think it was through "Finning", That is the Cat dealer here in Edmonton, Alberta.
