Thanks guys and glad to see other bass newbs besides me. I decided to try some rush on bass. Wow I was humbled big time. But as in the past were I would give up. I am now confident I can master Geddy Lee bass. Merry Christmas and hope you enjoy rocksmith. I know I am. Joe

I’m 19 and I’ve been playing bass for roughly 4 years now, I taught my self and I did well to do that, however I wish I new about rock-smith sooner, even if you know how to play it’s a good game/ tool for teaching you knew songs. It’s by far the best game I’ve brought. You done well with those 2 songs!

I've been playing bass for about 4 years now, I taught myself and it was very difficult to start off, I can't believe you progressed this far in just 3 weeks! It took me MONTHS to get to your level teaching myself, I wish this game was available whilst I was learning! I'll be getting this because I'm sure there is still a lot it can teach me! You rock dude!

I played a couple hours a day for a couple weeks before I felt any confidence to put on video. I hope they keep expanding the library with new and old bands that I love.

Thank you for posting this video. I'm just starting out on bass and know I can't afford lessons every week and have been worried that would affect my ability to learn. Then I discovered Rocksmith advertising and started looking up videos and reviews. Your video sold me on it. Your descriptions of yourself, how you learn and everything, could be me. Thank you for your honesty and walk throughs. My ONLY "complaint" is if people only see your video, you can't see the screen for the glare. I had seen other videos so I had a basic idea how it looked, but was bummed not to see it in this video. Thanks again.

thanks. it seems most reviews are more like "commercials" or it is people giving impressions after a few days vs weeks or months onto learning to play. I am trying to be consistent and adding video of my playing as I progress and get better. cheers!

I've been looking at getting into rocksmith for awhile now kind of going back and forth with it. I started learning on a cheap electric guitar and eventually bought my own 5 string bass. Your video convinced me to buy the game thanks!

Hey man, I used to be in the same boat that you were. Bought a Dean and would pick it up, but learning on my own was rough up until I bought the first Rocksmith 2 years ago. Since then, I've got myself a teacher, and with both, I've been learning so much. Can't imagine just going to a teacher without having played Rocksmith first. My wife got me Rocksmith 2014 earlier today and I'm itching to get home to it. It really is a fantastic tool for learning, and whenever I'm not doing homework or working, I'm jamming with Claudia (my bass lol). Hope you continue to progress smoothly my friend. Cheers from Detroit.

hey vince, thanks for the feedback and i really hope it helps your playing. make no mistake that i could barely string together a few notes before i got this "game". for $79 i figured it was the same as taking a few lessons from a teacher so if i got that much out of it i would break even. but man o man was i blown away with just how much it grabs you and motivates you to keep playing. usually to the point that your fingers can not physically take it any more. i will have a couple more vids i shot this weekend to post up to show my progress just on a couple songs and a few hours learning each one. good luck and let me know how it works for you. very excited and curious. joe

Basically this "game" teaches you a basic playing technique. It does not teach you, how to make music, that's another topic, but a great fact is, that it works for understanding tablatures and for getting familiar with fretboard, what really is great. Nice video! Cheers!

Very helpful review, and the only one I could find for bass. I have the game lying on the table now, but no bass yet to play on.... Was thinking of buying the Ibanez SR300, but seeing the brown burst finish on your 370 is making me think twice :) I don't mind the 28 minutes at all, in fact, I would love to see another long update on your experiences with RS2014 and your progress after 4 months! Thanks for this and keep up the good work.

I’ve just started to play Rocksmith and I’m loving it, I was progressing well by using online tutorials but this elicited me to the next level, great playing I know this video is so old by now but one tip I’d give you is to try and straighten your plucking hand wrist, reduces the risk of injury as your tendons don’t have to go though a steep angle it helped me out loads to feel more comfortable :)

Awesome review sloppyjoe999s. I have been playing guitar and bass for over 25 years. Played more bass in 2 months than in the previous 20+ years. Intuitive, fun and natural while not discouraging. Agree if parents are purchasing a guitar for a gift to purchase this also. Private instructors franchises such as Music & Arts should also consider incorporating this into lesson plans.

Hi Joe fantastic vid mate and a great interpretation, Rocksmith is a great tool Joe I'm like you mate never played guitar all, I bought myself a Les Paul 4 weeks ago spent three weeks trying to learn from KZbin vids which was ok but in three days of owning Rocksmith I have learnt more in three days than I have trying to learn from KZbin. channels. Now get this guys my neighbor has now bought a guitar my son-in-law has a Les Paul and now my wife has just got a bass, we are all total beginners in playing an electric guitar. Rocksmith 14 is the tool, I'm 55 years from the UK and hoping to tour America soon. Thanks Joe keep up the good work mate...great vid. so thats me done typing I'm off to play a few notes. Merv

People is right at saying what a great tool RS is, and not just to learn but to stay fit in the mechanics of whatever your skill level is or whatever have you learned so far. I been bass player for about 20 years but for so many life circumstances had to put things aside, specially the music, but when RS came out a couple of years ago, I retake my old 4 string friend and had a great time since then and again...

found myself entertained with the video i been playing with rocksmith for a year and a couple of months and its great for beginners i am still one but can recomend to not use it as the center of your music learning routine but as an extra for example: you studi some scales or a tecnique for a week and you want to feel your progress playing songs from this game. then you will apreciate even more the game and your own learning routine.

I can agree 100% here. Rocksmith was an excellent investment. And I have been a bass player for a while. Its a great game, uses real instruments and is a great tool for people to learn with. I also wish there was something around like it when I started. The ONLY thing I found I disliked, is its tuner. What it registers as being in-tune, is not in-tune when you check it on the 5th fret, or on a regular tuner. But thats allright, its not that big of a deal. However, if its affordable for people, especially when they start shopping for a new bass/guitar. Keep that old one around, just for Rocksmith. For a few reasons. Continuously detuning and retuning the guitar wears on the neck, truss rod, body and tuning keys. And its just a pain to continuously do it on a guitar you want to plug in and use with your amp. Ibanez makes decent basses. Might I also suggest Schecter and possibly Dean, particularly Deans E-09 (Edge 09) model. They both have great sound, and nice thin necks. You might have to adjust the action on the dean, as I know stock it is quite high for my liking anyway. But Schecters come set up really well.
@michaele1100
@michaele1100 8 жыл бұрын
+Levi Klein That's what I came on this post to see if anybody had the same problem I have . I have two tuners that I thought were pretty accurate an were not cheap but the tuner in the rocksmith is completely different from them they are so far apart that now I don't know which one to trust.

I’m 6 years late but don’t care. Great video man, thanks. I picked up a bass again after 20 years, and have struggled finding consistent material to learn from that doesn’t cost hundreds of pounds. I’m a gamer, so this ticks all the boxes. Can’t wait to get it for my PS4, although it’s still £40 with the cable, it’s a bargain really. I also have an Ibanez, SR300E. Thanks again, great video.

Dude, I had the same experience with a bass teacher. My first one was so awesome, patient and wanted me to learn but have fun doing so. My second one? i had the same problems with learning drums and guitar, my jazz band instructor knew i had to potential to be an amazing drummer and kept pushing me, not helping me to learn fully what i was being taught, eventually i quit jazz band and moved on, few years later i got a guitar and drum set and sat down and taught myself drums, then rocksmith helped me learn guitar quickly, same problem though, never had an "at your own pace" instructor so i never learned, but now i am actually fairly good, and now im getting ready to learn bass because of rocksmith

First of all, thanks for sharing. I love music, same bands as you like, bought a bass a couple of months ago... and it´s still in its case, I have no idea on how to play and it´s so hard to learn without help or by yourself. Seeing you it´s hard to believe that you had no idea on how to play just 3 weeks ago you made this video... maybe you have a natural talent or... I don´t know. Anyway, I think you recommend Rocksmith to start from 0, I frustrate myself very quickly and I see this method like a real good option. Thanks for your great review man, greetings from Argentina.

Coco, when I made this video I had just a few weeks under my belt, but many hours. I played this game a lot in the first few weeks. It was fall/winter so I was not out of the house much. Definitely check out some of my later videos of new songs o and progression I've made. If I had to recommend this again, I would 100%

I love this game. If you have ever wanted to learn to play guitar or bass guitar, this is THE "game" for you. I just can't say enough. Its one of the best things in my life. LOVE IT.

Nice video!! Ok now I'm motivated to pick up that bass I purchased over a year ago! (Lakland 4-94). However, I'm still a bit leery about Rocksmith for PC after reading several "Installation" horror stories on Amazon reviews! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Man. I wouldn't know. I'm set up on PS3. Best I could say is give it a try and see what happens. Roll the dice if you will. Perhaps there have been some software updates that would have fixed any known issues? But certainly pick up that bass and try it out. You will be glad you did. I apologize in advance for the bass tones you will hear ringing I your head at all times;)

Well I've gotta tell you, I rarely sit through and watch entire KZbin videos. I sat through all this and now I'm itching to play this. I've always wanted to learn to play bass so this may be a better teacher than my high school guitar class I failed. I have a very bad attention span, so hopefully playing a guitar digitally might be the key to keep me interested. My roommate has a bass, so I might pick this up relatively soon. Thanks for the video.

Its a awesome tool, I played bass during my earlier high school years, I basically learnt how to play correctly and all the different tips and tricks, but I didnt like how I had to learn songs, but from rocksmith it makes it 10x easier because you can ease your way into a song.

Hey man! Hey it’s Dean here, I’m a fellow adult bass learner, I’m not crazy rich, and I’m not a super video gamer, ive bought a PS3 system, and a rocksmith game, I’ve owned the game since October and I’ve not bin able to play a single song, it’s pulling my hair out and I’m loosing hair as it is, their self help line hasn’t helped me out, could you help a brother out? Any tips I’d greatly appreciate!

Nice job bro. My girlfriend wants to learn to play the bass and tinkered a little bit on one of my guitars in Rocksmith #1 and seemed to really enjoy it. I'll pick up a bass for her and Rocksmith 2014 and see how it goes. Rock on!

I was going to grab this game with a six string guitar to try and master it, but watching this made me realize that I've always loved bass most out of anything else in a song, so maybe I'll pick a bass guitar instead.

Why not both? I plan on learning guitar next. This rocksmith has made me realize that time and being totally engaged is all it takes to learn something new. Actually I would love to learn piano.

I feel the same way about Music lessons. The instructors don't want to "crush your spirit" so they don't drill you on important building blocks. At least for drums that's how it was

Great Progress man! I'm in the same shoes as you, got this on New Years day and I've played more in that 1 month than the 9 years I have owned a guitar/bass haha! Unless you count guitar hero, I've sunk in so many hours on that. I think GH actually helped a ton though!
@JoeinPNW
@JoeinPNW 10 жыл бұрын
im sure it helped a ton with hand/eye coordination. which is a lot of what this is about. if the fingers and hands are not doing what the brain tells em to then your not playing. not well at least ;)

I've been playing for 2 years now and i'm thinking about getting this. Would you say it's good for people who are familiar with a bass already? Also how are you finding it nearly a year on?

+P-Kitty Plenty on Amazon and Ebay for around $100. Since the game is converting analog to digital I doubt the quality of the guitar matters a great deal. Did you hit the right note on time? That's what it's looking for. However, part of the motivation is picking up a guitar you love and want to play. Settling for a cheap one might hurt your motivation. For $150 you can get a very nice starter bass. Look them over until you find one you like. That's what I did. I fell in love with the Squire Jaguar SS. $179. Rave reviews on it and my playing in front of the pc is a bit of a confined space. So the smaller bass works for me.
