You're totally right my man, the gear is so accessible now there are no excuses for not just getting out and making shit. I've got a £400 BMPCC OG, a £300 Meike prime Cine lens, a £60 vintage hellos lens and a £250 Gimbal. And the quality I can achieve is beyond the wildest dreams of filmmakers who came up in the 80s, 90's and noughties. And now Apple are giving us insanely powerful M chip computers to edit with too! And Davinci Resolve is Free!! We should be THE filmmaking generation, it's all there and accessible as hell.

Great example with the tip of the gun rack focus. We had to recreate the Pulp Fiction overdose scene when I was at university in cinema. There's this rack focus zoom from hand to tip of the needle, we juste could not do it. With 3 people and a miniDV camera. Now I think I could pull it off alone, as you said. We're gonna need to come up with constraints to spark our creativity!

Great video! I myself picked up a Tokina Angie 28-70 2.8 for peanuts which is definitely on what we call ‘softer side of cinema’ when it comes to overall sharpness, but it’s amazing and 90% par-focal

patrick at it again with the truth bombs. yeah, there is no excuse today (or even the last little while) for someone who wants to get started with filmmaking or photography, aside from skill issues. like, even action cameras a fantastic for what they are. cellphones as well! what a wonderful world we find ourselves in.

@@sloppysteaks I have to confirm it but in his interview for Filmmaker magazine, he says: "We shot this on the newest iteration of the Sony DSLR, which is, as you know, a digital single-lens reflex camera. Its primary mode is as a still camera, but it also shoots really good video. It’s small, and this new version has a sensor that was never used in a DSLR before." Funny how he calls it a DSLR. He deasn't even need to know that "it's actually a mirrorless." 🤓

hey bro i have a quick question do i set my ISO for my IPHONE 15 1250 (filming a retro gaming event) some other youtube guy said you and another dude said shooting at 1250 is ideal or should i just leave it at a low iso for no noise?

Sony 20-70mm f4 makes most sense with A7cii as with electronic first curtain there is no benefit from big aperture lenses as the bokeh is distorted due to the separation of shutter and sensor plane in EFC. Also 20-70mm is little more versatile and in future AI hardware accelerated tools will enhance the bokeh in existing images by blending in some artificial bokeh, Davinci Resolve already have it as depth map since last year.
