I don’t know what Darwino makes in a week but agree, he’s a great second option. Don’t think we’ll recoup the money we spent on him. It’s unfair to him to expect him to be a player he isn’t. Under Jurgen we played noticeably better with him in the side. I’m not sure under Slot but it’s not my decision. Love Darwino and hope he can be part of these next few years but we’ll see. YNWA

Other than Mane, the last time we brought a proper goal scorer was Suarez. And prior to that, Torres. So that’s 3 top goal scorers Liverpool have brought and they have hit goal scoring heights. That is 3 top out and out goal scorers in the past 30-40 years. That should tell us that these are rare species, and Nunez was never brought with expectations of him to break goal scoring records. For me the bigger question is what do we do with Jota in the summer.
@liverpool_fc_tv6 күн бұрын
You have completely left out one of our best forwards ever, Salah. Firmino was also a quality player. Diaz has already scored as many goals as he did last season too. The other thing is, every club has one main goalscorer i.e Haaland for City, Saka for Arsenal, Palmer for Chelsea etc etc etc and then the other players chip in. Our main goalscorer is Salah. Jota's scoring rate is also pretty good over his Liverpool career. We have always had players who score goals every season. The problem is many of our players are scapegoated by some fans.
@Cheqside6 күн бұрын

Indeed but the biggest credit to him will be when Jota is fully fit, that they share the minutes because opposition teams will need to do different things to deal with their qualities and this will create opportunities for Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Salah to pounce. I just want Mbeumo, LB, holding Mid, RW. But for Darwin he doesn’t get enough chances imho overall and some of those he missed we’ve seen other top tier players miss on occasion. I think his confidence is shot and i’m not seeing diff w the new coaches ‘coaching him up’ to try shifting his shot sometimes -ex taking a touch/step to move off the centre line with the goalie. I still have faith in Nunez but like it or not he still needs his teammates to have that faith to send him a better ball or look his way on a breakaway. He needs more reps to work it out, i think.

Darwin is a good player but too erratic and lacks composure. Most Liverpool fans would love to see Nunez succeed but it does not look like it will work out for him and it also does not look like he fits Slot's system. Yes but if you think of him as a Drogba or Diego Costa, how much does his existence on the pitch and the shape of the defensive and lines into his runs, allow Salah to be the match winner and for Slot to execute his pressing and containment strategy. The sum of the parts is resulting in our title charge and whilst his goal return looks awful, there are many underlaying narratives in the game. At the point where we start dropping points because of his misses, then there will be a big question mark over his future.
@liverpool_fc_tv6 күн бұрын
@Si, I reckon our wingers will score more goals than our no 9 due to how important the wide men are in Slot's system so whoever plays down the middle for us, does not need to score alot of goals. Slot will look for a false 9 like Jota to replace Nunez. We need a player who links the midfield and attack and has creativity and needs to have mobility to play up top.
@leolovetoparty5 күн бұрын
I've been thinking about this, and also checking out some basic stats on other players, and I would expect LFC to be seriously evaluating not just Joao Pedro, but Omar Marmoush. There's definitely enough data on both to be able to make a call. I know this is not exactly breaking news, but the more I think about this, the more it makes sense to bring in Marmoush. He's the sort of player who gets fans off their seats. He can dribble, he's fast, he's got great technique, his linkup play is excellent and he's obviously got more than an eye for goal. I think he's on the cusp of becoming a superstar. He would obviously link up well with Mo. My only concern would be what happens when they both go to Afcon in a year's time. As for Pedro, I would be seriously concerned about his injury record. While he has the potential to be another Firmino, we really can't afford another injury prone forward. I'm all in on Marmoush. As for Darwin, I love him as much as any other LFC supporter does, but he's had 2 1/2 years to prove himself. Having said that, I wouldn't be against selling Chiesa to make room for Marmoush (who *can* also play on the right). An injury prone Italian who hardly gets on the pitch for LFC? Who knew, eh? ;-)
@liverpooljapan5 күн бұрын
Issue with Marmoush is he has only 1 good season in his career to date and we don't really have a position for him if Salah fills in the inside forward role on the right, but he looks very good. Pedro is good but Brighton declared they want 100 million for him. Chiesa will be a very good player here but we actually dont need him at this very moment. I would love a January signing though!

Firmino was a statistical phenomenon but under utilised until Klopp found a found for him. Salah was the best player in each team he played for except from Chelsea - Basel, Fiorentina, Roma. I definitely agree to this on many levels. Darwin's job appears to be to make space for Salah and Diaz in the pockets and allow them to edge closer to the goal. He only gets on the end of moves when the other 2 are blocked out so rather than the system designed to capitalize on his attributes, his attributes, get him in the position to fashion and opportunity, which unfortunately he has not converted more times than not. At the same time, other "9's" will suffer the same fate. The different approach would be to get a facilitator who can also score their odd chances. Jota fits this perfectly if he wasnt always out injured. But even in this scenario, a Darwin Nunez is an excellent additional option to have.
@Easilytriggered7 күн бұрын
Unfortunately I can't agree with you on Nunez. I think Liverpool always need technical forwards and there have been quite a few over the years that lack that technique and haven't succeeded. Danns links play, coming deep much better and more naturally than Darwin.
@liverpooljapan7 күн бұрын
The role of the forward in Slot and Klopps teams is to create space with intelligent runs and pressing for Salah and Diaz and Gakpo to get space in the pockets. There is a reason why Salah said Nunez is his favourite player to play with after Firmino. Nunez's pace and runs will always mean the defenders have to line up to try to catch him off side of get goal side to block him out, which gives Salah positional priority. Nunez has all the attributes technically, except for composure and ruthlessness in finishing. Zirkzee and Havertz are technical forwards and they would both be detrimental to Salah and Diaz/Gakpo in this line up. Firmino is technical but converts less of his chances that Nunez. Firmino however has the game intelligence to move players out of position to get Salah into priority positions and his hold up and link play is excellent. Nunez is still a very important player in the system, but he just isn't executing at the moment and its an issue.

I can't understand why these groups of alleged supporters go ganging up on our own players. By all means criticise performance fairly. But calling our players shit and worse isn't LFC. Ynwa

@@kimberleyaxxxx934no reason to assume the comments come from real people. There's websites selling fake comments, I found this in 2 minutes searching: "People will watch your video and will leave comment on it, just like real viewers do. 100 comments - 10$ 50 Comments - 7$" Think about it, you're having the best start to a season maybe ever & "fans" are calling for you to sell one of your best players in January? When there's not even a better player available to buy? You think that makes sense?

It's a bit paranoid to go with that angle of analysis.

Darwin was brought in as a striker no matter his other attributes he is failing in this

Nunez always plays woe is me after dropping stinkers. 3 goals in 19 games, it’s season 3 this is the last chance. If he doesn’t show his worth he should be sold and we upgrade him that’s that. Slot called him out for his missing; we’re here to win not make relationships and friendships.

Where is the service to Nunez?
@MegaKasf7 күн бұрын
@marilynbodasing9393 he got two chances yesterday he should be scoring one. You have to make the most of whatever you get; we’re not going to overly provide service to a wasteful striker when we have a clinical guy like Salah. Maybe if Jota was playing we’d provide more service to him

If Slot can find a better striker for his system that can compliment Salah, then Slot will go for it. Until then, Nunez is a key contributor in the success of the team through his ability to shift the defences priorities due to his pace and positioning, which puts Salah closer to goal. Salah said that after Firmino, Nunez is his favourite player to play with and I believe it. The biggest issue is that Nunez is not finishing chances that might be needed later in the season, but up until this point, the rest of the team is doing it for him so the sum of the parts is working.

@@liverpooljapan nunez has had some good games without scoring or assisting but that isn’t the norm, it doesn’t matter what Salah thinks. Nunez has 3 goals in 19 games, he’s a grown man this is season 3 it’s not a fairy tale. For me he’s gonna hold bench once Jota/ Chiesa are back to full fitness and I would love to see him get sold in summer and look forward to it because there’s always a theory or an excuse for this guy, he’s not that good. Hes not delivered even a 15 goal prem season for us, there’s too much emotional attachment to him. We get Joao Pedro/Cunha/Marmoush as a 9 and never talk about Nunez again the same way we don’t talk about Rickie Lambert and dross like that man. Slot openly criticised Nunez, it’s the end of the road for him very soon; Edwards would never sign a guy like Nunez

Lmao you can tell the stinky masculinity podcast gloryhunters from a mile away. ‘We’re here to win’. Who is ‘we’? You do nothing with your life mate - you certainly don’t contribute to LFC winning or not. Football in this context is almost EXCLUSIVELY about relationships. Match day experience (you wouldn’t know anything about that), pub chat, camaraderie, loveable characters in the team, connecting with fans online. You’re an entitled loser, who thinks they’re owed a ‘winning machine’ team so that they can feel some sense of achievement. Go work and make something of your life instead of expecting Darwin bloody Nuñez to give your sad life a sense of accomplishment.

Fairplay for you faith in Darwin I was a huge fan of him however his attitude and behaviour doesn’t justify his fee or position I would take Mbouemi tomorrow if he was available otherwise Marmoush and time for Darwin to try elsewhere
