It’s the Floyd Mayweather tactic of using the early exchanges to get reads on your opponent and audit their attack lines. Then go on the offensive later on. It hadn’t occurred to me Slot might be doing this but it’s a nice thought

You have to consider this is Slot's first season with Liverpool. He's also learning what his team can and can't do. Knowing Slot a little bit, he chose Liverpool because he knows he can make them better. Tottenham wanted him last year but he declined. In Liverpool he sees great potential, even if Salah leaves. That's the reason he became manager of Liverpool. He did not go for the money, but for the possibilaty to win.

To be honest just before half-time I was thinking maybe Darwin to replace Diaz lol I will just stick to my day job. We always have plenty of bodies back in defence with only a rare opponent running in on goal, while that was more often last few seasons, cause we attacked so much.

One of Hincapie (only 22 and would cost about 40 mill) or Tah (who will be available on a free) would be a good signing next summer to beef up our defence. We can't assume that Virgo and Konate won't get injured, and even with Gomez and Quansah as backup, if we want to fight full-on for 4 trophies every year I think we need 5 and not just those 4 central defenders.

Under Klopp the football was super exciting and at times, brilliant, but it was always "tongue hanging out the mouth" by the end of the season while City had more energy in the run in. Things have changed now as we are conserving a lot more energy and aren’t having those nerve wrangling super exhausting games we had a lot last season. Agreed that by March, barring injuries, we will be looking much more like title strong contenders if we can keep in the top 2.

7:39 Konate's the more physically powerful player. Have you seen VVD recently? He's REALLY skinny, alot skinnier than he was a pre-injury. Konate is 95kg, VVD is 92kg.

Lucho's first (Curtis movement) Do you reckon that this might have been a planned play? Maybe practised previously in training, but then Slot might have suggested it as one to try to Jones and Diaz at half time. Was there a similar set up (or maybe even a couple) during the second half where Curtis didn't move into that position, but instead stayed between their lines, then at this moment he moved, turned and played that amazing through ball.

Very possible. Slot definitely had some things to suggest to the lads facing that 4-4-2 defending. Slot put his hands on his head after the finish, he was astonished by the finish as we all were. There is much more to come from this team. Jota, Elliott and Chiesa all to come back in soon.

I know, he was our coach for 3 years, we where never tactically outplay’d or loosing with a big margin, they always showed up and if we had a bad 1st half we always had way better 2nd half and the same is happening at Liverpool. Another typical Arne trait is making players better and at Feyenoord it ment getting 2nd devision players nobody had heard off but he saw something, play’s him where he thinks he should play and as with Brightons Mats Wiefer he was playing for the Dutch national team a year later. It just started, so much more to come from Slot and it will get a lot better on the pitch. Liverpools theoretically much better players as Feyenoord are not playing Slot ball (total football 4.0) as it should be yet, the play from the back will get a lot lot better.

Master Tactician would get the 1st half right attacking wise and not lose control at times. It shouldn't matter if the opponent uses different tactics/formation unless they are parking the bus. I think Liverpool should try to rely more on patterns in the 1st half to get going. What happens if the opponent finishes the 1st half with 1 goal lead and then change formation/build-up/attack patterns for the 2nd half? Aren't you preparing the team during half-time for outdated tactics then?
