One difference I think between Slovaks and Austrians/Germans is though Slovaks can be harsh and maybe even agressive or strict, they have a very compassionate side. They don't like to see people hurt or feeling bad, while Austrians and Germans don't really care as much if ur hurt or having a hard time. That's just my opinion

I got to recently meet a long lost cousin from ancestry dna who is my Slovak American cousin. Our relative came from Bukova. I get to help teach her about all things slovak. Shes not ready to learn the language and that's ok. I wont speak it but I share everything else now. This is incredible!! We come from a very proud culture.

As a Romanian, I can recognise a lot of the traits that you described here in my culture as well. Family-oriented, attaching a high importance to appearances (especially in the countryside, people would spend tons of money investing in their home, cars, despite having to eat bread with butter for a year...ok, a slight exaggeration, but you get my point), adaptability that leads to creativity (due to the communist past I believe). I've had a bad experience with "mean" customer service in Bratislava haha, but my Slovakian friends are incredibly friendly and intelligent, and you have some really cool cities, so I hold Slovakia dear to my heart. Great video!

wat kastomer srvis ? Ju shud bi gled vi ar bodering with ju ! You should see the doctors and all the medical personnel (most) treat people like objects, till doctor gets his 4k € pay and others 500+ because oligarchs owning the stolen hospital dont bother paying either. They do not care it seems. And their inability to be changed for another person because family gave them work and they basically cant lose it.

In my natal city people pay special attention in your last name because you are "son of ...." Its very traditional, this happens a lot un small cities ir towns. i think many latins (Spain, Italy France, Portugal, Romania, Latin América) we all share similar values , maybe Slovaks are our lost cousins jejeje Great videos , Saludos 👋

As an Anglo-Saxon American who has lived for long periods of time in Latin America as well as spent a lot of time in Eastern Europe, I completely agree with you. Slavs in general enjoy life in a way the same as Latins, which is directly opposite the Anglo-American way, which is also simialar to a few Western European and East Asian nations. You work to live NOT live to work, and that is the key to being happy in life.

You are wrong and it is not the first time when you speak about Slovakia and Slovaks eg. Slovaks value honesty over politeness not vice-versa. Slovaks are very direct when it comes to any subject and criticise anything and anyone a lot. Most of the time they speak their mind regardless of others opinion, attitude.... Actually, they are being perceived as rude by other nations eg. by Britons...They don't mind to be so direct and honest......Stop lying.... Btw. they don't buy PC as they are not so brainwashed yet, like in other countries....

What does buying a PC have to do with someone's values? People can get a PC to improve themselves or to get dumber (like with a TV). Your remark about "not so brainwashed yet" prompts me to ask: Generally speaking, how credulous or submissive have Slovaks been during the "pandemic" farce? I'm aware that the Czech government was the first (or one of the first ones) to desist from mandatory injections. That makes me wonder where Slovaks stand when it comes to oppressive agendas that get implemented world-wide.

That thing directness is very subjective... for example I love when people are honest with me and I am brutally honest whenever I can. It simplifies life a lot and it gives me a chance to improve myself faster. I believe it is also a gender thing. None of my male friends would hesitate to tell me that my outfit today suck, my female friends though...

Let me add even a bit more the Mexicans ,Slovaks ,Italians{The Godfather,film} and we Indians are too attached to our families.I can't think of me out of my family,and a lot of corruption due to this bias towards our families{well said} and we love our parents the most,in our tradition they are to be respected the most,even the lord comes only after parents and teachers

My ancestory DNA says I'm 42% Eastern European and Russian but it says I had ancestors in the last 100 years who lived in Southern Poland and Eastern Slovakia and Northeastern Hungary and Eastern Slovakia. My father insisted that his parents were Russian and were Russian Orthodox yet I know Poland and Slovakia are Catholic did I miss something? I even pointed out to my father that our family surname is Polish. What the hell am I? The only thing is certain is my German which is on my mother's side they were the Germans that taught agriculture to Eastern Europeans on the Don Steppes.

they are not western yuropeans, so that s hardly gonna happen. I really dont understand why would you want fake services when honesty is so much better. What I hate is social status superficiality overhere. Go after some bureaucrat and let him tell you this is impossible, that is perfectly well within their reach. Thats actually abuse. I dont go and do not require services but if I see they are after money nd they fake smile like americans for example, on the inside I get the feeling of get the ... out, I dont want to deal with you. Any business owner who thinks to be a superior human drops to worthless as well.

@cdgncgn
@cdgncgn 3 жыл бұрын
Im Slovak, in the east and you would be wrong. I do not value any of those things, because to me they are worthless. This is why for example I can relate with gypsies who are generally poor for whatever reason. If they are reasonable, I can have a good discussion with them. My local 'landlord' in village owns a porsche, all stuff inherited from commie times, surely built on top of it, but I do not see him as a person with bigger value even though his cousin made it to I believe constitutional court. And from there I would bet it became easier to get access to things. If you do not stick in your bosses backside, youre not gonna find much work here. Your work is 'second' (or worse) rate compared to your status and you playing the absolutely empty status mind games. For me this is such hypocrisy-driven crap that I do not bother with much of the nation unless they prove that all this superficiality is hollow. Family mafia is what it is called around here. If you do not have family in positions to grant you work ,youre at a disadvantage, welcome to leave. Most people work in it so they have no problem. If you do not, you dont fit, so youre welcome outside the country, cause the inside is basically taken over by spineless cowards and hypocrites who fortified their positions for decades. 20 years ago this was a vastly different country, even after 1998 coup that installed Washington-owned politicians that gradually transformed/destroyed the society, cohesion and wealthy/nonwealthy difference, as well as morality. For example I get a disgust from a rich person telling me how they are superior because they compare what I have and what they and determine their 'value'. This is what I see form american corporate propaganda, that a rich person is somehow superior, when he most likely only stole more from the state anyway. Lots of people are superficial here. I do not know the percentage, but I guess there is a big difference between east/west. Media helps them think that they are not ruled from the US, that it is actually them making decisions in their country. This is a wrong assumption that most younger people do not know. I value truth the most, but sometimes I try to not outright destroy them with it so I test the waters a bit to see if they are receptive/thought capable. Many are superficial, great on the surface. But we do have great people on both the surface and tthe inside as well. But generally you do not see them cuse they do not boast :P Then you have societal rejects like pretty much myself. I dont work, do not expect to work anytime soon, what will happen tomorrow I do not care anymore at least :P things did not work out the way I was hoping and options are pretty much limited. I wanted to be good to everybody always, but seeing how most moral-playing people are selfish pricks, I do not feel connected to them. On part it is part of enemy subversive propaganda/agenda, but it only works on weajk-minded or confused people. How people are controlled by media narratives to what extent, how so many people believe the lies, is something that makes me think that I do not bother with them. They do not bother with me, they laugh at me and I, I guess I will be laughing whne their hard time come, which they will.Living in illusions is very dangerous both individually and for society.Antireligous antichristian propaganda made lots of young folks not have much in the values. Protecting a crooked family vs a normal one is where there is difference. Otherwise it regresses to something that is reminisscent of feudal system. As for actual people, great mix of everything, outright German, Slav, Italian faces and what not. But we speak officially one language, that is artificial in itself :P Both western and eastern dialects are much older than the official one.
