Don't know whether anyone has correctly guessed the hanging crops, but they look a bit like the hop fields, that used to be about a mile from my home in Worcestershire, but the building vandals have ripped them all down and now new warehouses are there. What are we doing to our lovely countryside. Great series of vids Andy.

Another great video mate. Thoroughly enjoyed our alpine ride last July and August. Lost count of the Passes we did. Something special about riding at altitude..you can see for miles. Captured some great video myself. We rode over Stelvio 4 times, once at 6am and were the only bikes on the road. Just stunning Looking forward to more videos. 👍

The name of Dravograd is combined from two words: Drava (name of the river) and grad (castle in Slovenian). There used to be a castle Dravograd there, but now only some ruins remain.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't grad mean City or town? And kula means castle? So Dravograd would translate to Dravotown.

@@kemer1977 In Serbo-Croatian grad means town and velegrad is a city. Kula is a Turkish word for a fortress (or castle). In Slovenian mesto is a town and velemesto is a city, grad means castle. Slovenian is it's own language and it's different from Serbo-Croatian.

@@valentintapata2268 thanks for the clarification. I left Zagreb in 1986 when I was 9 years old. I knew that the different areas have different dialects, just wasn't too sure on the finer points. Even as a kid we didn't have much exposure to Slovenia. Grandparents lived in Kumanovo in Makedonia. Same thing down there. The language is similar enough to be understood, but different enough to be it's own.

@@kemer1977 I was born in 86. When I visited Macedonia knowledge of Serbo-Croatian usually didn't helped me very much (for more complicated things), English went better. Off-course northern dialects of Croatia are closer to me, for Macedonians would be southern Serbian dialects. And for both Serbo-Croatian is a similar, but a foreign language. I was a bit surprised, I assumed that they would speak Serbo-Croatian better, then again I was mostly at southeastern border of Macedonia. Edit: Serbo-Croatian word for a castle is kaštel (from Italian castello), but Serbians and Macedonians often use kule or kale which comes from Turkish.

Loving this series of touring vids as with all the others I've watched. Already contacted Joy for dates this year for Slovenia, looks epic. Warning about Austria and Dashcams/Helmetcams, along with Switzerland they are banned due to their privacy laws, very hefty fines just for having one, and a no-no to use...anybody ever come a cropper with this? I’m enjoying this series a lot. As you say, a lot different to riding in UK because of the (reasonably) dependable weather, open roads and low density of population. The only place similar in UK is Scotland and that’s definitely weather & midge dependant. For me, 3 hours each side of an early lunch is plenty. The distance you achieve depends on the type of roads you’re travelling on. I like Noraly’s style of touring, mixing in lots of interesting places and not trying to be too dependent on distances. The journey starts with the first step, as a Chinese geezer once said! Did I mention about the screen being too dark? 😂😂😉

I love the Alps. I only rode there by car but that was great fun. After a week I drove as fast through the mountains as the inhabitants. Also very nice to do walks through the mountains. Only walks where you didn’t need climbing gear I did. You can filter in the Netherlands but only between the left two lanes and at low speed and only if traffic is halted or at very low speed. But that’s enough. You can also filter in Belgium but not in Germany 🙄. 😜the brits and their knowledge of foreign languages. Where would you be without google translate😋. Most Dutch know at least two languages, a lot know three or more as I do. I would love to be there and ride my bike. ...grad, ...rath (Germany and Dutch dialect), ...rade or ray (Dutch); I tried to find what it means and it has to do with a place the forest where trees are being felt ( rodeplatz; roden is German for felling trees) to make room for (temporary) houses and agriculture and livestock.

A proper Greek Salad has no lettuce. It's only tomatoes, unpeeled cucumber, feta cheese and kalamata olives. Dust a little oregano on top and dress it with red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. I ate one everyday when I was in Rodos and to this day, still make them the same.

Nice video. Beautiful country! But I prefer your solo tour vids eg NC500 & Arctic Circle*. When you’re left to your own devices, rather than following another, your chat (about route plotting, accommodation, ferries etc) is far more engaging - at least I find it so. *yeah I know Arctic Circle was technically guided but other riders were often out of sight. Ps, 28C is 82F. Can you possibly imagine how I can remember that? 😉

My Son's mate got caught speeding last year on his bike in Austria. £4k fine, had to pay on the spot. Zero tolerance. Then his mates had to do a shuttle to get his bike to Germany as he was banned!

Yes - I plugged into the wrong connector so I took the video down to stop anyone copying me - you must use the white connector per the instructions, on my bike it was hiding out of view....

I'm living near this area in austria - often riding my bike around there - great place! unfortunately, many bikers die every year on "route 69" (street near the lake, from carinthia to styria) because they're way too fast and ride like idiots :(
