Hello Haley.. how old were you ? I was wondering did you actually know David Bowie or did you at least get the chance to spend any time with him other than the time spent creating this video..also how long did it take to do this.. what you did ? How much and what all do you remember ?

Only realised listening to this song for 1st time in years, the lyrics " here are we at the centre of it all " are used also in Blackstar!..Both songs are very spiritual I feel...he was a genius at expressing himself, his vision and emotion through his music and a genuine one of a kind soul. He is still around us all I am sure..in some energy form.

That continuous dit-dit-do-ahh, dit-dit-doo-ahh....is from another song which I know well but can’t place it right now. I bet it’s from Low, maybe “Always Crashing in the Same Car” I will have to listen to that to see if I guessed correctly. Yes, I’m back to edit...it is reminiscent of that song.
@pierfrontarcade5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. As I hear it, Always Crashing goes _ - _ _ and SB _ _ - _ I'm not a musician though. Pegg mentions vintage sound of Heroes and Teenage Wildlife.
@catherinelevison33105 жыл бұрын
pierfrontarcade hi!! Laugh, I’m not going to debate the sounds because (laugh again) I had a difficult time describing what I was hearing. As long as you know what I’m talking about, and you do, that’s all that matters. Thank you!
@catherinelevison33105 жыл бұрын
pierfrontarcade okay, I really hear the __ __-_ now, you have described it perfectly. I wonder if Bowie meant to have it sound like Crashing?
@pierfrontarcade5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the challenge, it's quite fun to listen to the various instruments and layers. There's nothing unusual about repurposed sounds, but to call it deliberate one would have to identify precisely the relationship between the two motives, how they compare. The fabric of the two songs is very different. Any experts around?

How did footage (at about 2:05) from Commander Chris Hadfields video from several years ago of Space Oddity, performed aboard the International Space Station get into this video from 2002? It's Hadfields guitar floating through the ship. Why is this footage included in a video for Slow Burn?
@pierfrontarcade7 жыл бұрын
Both original videos are shorter than the album version of the song, so I needed something to fill the spaces. I chose that footage to complement the cosmic theme.

can clearly see why it never got released-its just bowie waving his hands around in a silly fashion shame something more interesting couldn't have been made for this song with its thick atmosphere of dread and paranoia.
@pierfrontarcade5 жыл бұрын
I've nothing against Bowie waving his hands around, but yes, it could've been darker. My main issue though is the very fact of Bowie following the common trend at the time and giving up on video promos as such (that's the reason why it wasn't released) when he should've invented youtube!

@@pierfrontarcade well he should have patented the iPad and tablet in 1980 (Ashes to Ashes) did you see his storyboard drawings for that video with the picture of the hand holding the iPad, and the design of the tablet on the chair in the padded room! Not to mention that he conceptualised iTunes in interviews in 1995 and 1997.
@pierfrontarcade4 жыл бұрын
@And all the angels say I know what you mean, but a modern eye is also bound to interpret every picture frame as a tablet (and the one in the hand is definitely based on a Polaroid). It's interesting that he started doubting the video promos just when reasonably fast internet became widely available though. And he went from creating hypertext narratives (Leon) to banking.
